Is it bad I laughed at the quest when I thought it was just the writers being meta about DPS blaming the healer for a wipe? 'cause now I feel bad.

She kinda fell down a chasm while on fire...
Although JRPGs do like to resurrect people, so w/e I guess.
I think that's probably some of the intent too actually, just taken to 11.
She also made pacts with several voidsent that she was able to summon at will, and performed various resurrection ceremonies to bring Avere back to life. I've no doubt she has a fail-safe for if she died before she could bring Avere back.
I prefer not to have a happy ever after ending. Makes it more realistic.
What I would like is bring more stories featuring characters from our past.
As I said in the Lore forum, I'm going to be exceptionally disappointed if this just ends up being a "Herp. Voidsent made her do it. Kill the mastermind!" sort of thing.
If she's actively 'in control' (to the extent a crazy-person can be) and managed to grow as a result of either desperation or a natural aptitude for necromancy, that is far more compelling than a story where she's really just a tool to try and push more voidsent overlord bollocks.
I wanted Edda to have a traditional happy ending at first as well, but now I'd prefer something more... non-traditional.
If she can overcome her grief, she can become happy with her new lot in life. Creepy, twisted, and macabre, but... happy.
And then she can be our Necromancer job trainer. :-)
Is that really what you got out of it? Because I didn't. Honestly, she seemed to be stronger after he died than before, mostly stemming from that fact that she decided to do everything in her power to get the person she loved back. That's not "Worth nothing as a person without the male", that's "Will do anything to be with the one I love."
Esuna casts fast enough we may not even need swiftcast.
Edda Returns: Final Fantasy XIV.
If there's no body, who's to say they died? :p
Her ending does not have to be a happy one.. though I would love to see her get her wedding. :) Even if it was a... creepy wedding? o.O;
But first of course Avere must apologize for being a bit mean towards her! :mad:
Who is Edda?
I'm sorry that's all you got out of that, but I'll argue that also offensive is reducing the entirity of events and their character down to singular tropes. It's hard enough to get people to take characters who aren't strictly White And Male taken seriously or viewed as full characters.
It wasn't even much of a fixation on her boyfriend - it was a fixation on the entire adventuring life. It was specifically stated that while the other three viewed adventuring as a means to an end, adventuring WAS the end for Edda, the goal point. She wanted the happy fantasy of dear companions and endless adventure and heroism. Avere was only a part of that - but if he was the only thing that mattered to her, she wouldn't have bothered reanimating Liavinne's corpse or trying to get whatshisname the Lalafell to join them either.
She didn't exactly have her dreams shattered lightly. She had them shattered right in front of her, arguably because of her actions (or inactions), and then had those dreams stomped on by the other people who were supposed to be part of it. All she had to show for it at the end, after that traumatic event, was Avere's head - one reminder of what could have been. And which evolved, in time, to her to be a chance that it can still happen.
Either way, I am not down for Edda being redeemed. If we do get a happy ending for her I want it to be at a point where we actually do have to straight up kill her to stop her, no ifs ands or buts, and we get a brief glimpse in the end of Avere greeting her in the afterlife and them both finally getting to pass on. That's about the only 'happy' ending to the tale I'd accept at this point.
As much as I love Edda and her story, I just want to see them put this kind of amazing storytelling into more characters in general XD
If they were to continue her story, however, I want to see it go darker...>.>...
I don't think she can be saved. She looked like she crossed that threshold between "saveable" and "yes, this character is going to die by your hand somewhere down the road". They could go the "comically creepy" route, but if they did they may as well let me kill her because I would absolutely hate to see her become that type of character.
I want to save her from the Darkness, but that doesn’t mean i have to succeed. (^_~ ) There are multiple ways to follow up on the story. Like others have said in this thread, making Edda a new villain in the game is a very interesting idea. The story doesn’t have to have a heppy ending.
(Even though i feel sorry for her...)
All in all, we all want to see more of her, since the story revolving around Edda in The Tam-Tara Deepcroft was a success indeed. (^_^ )-b
I just want to do my utmost best to save her.
Random thought of the thread:
The implications of Edda being present if there's a somewhat involved quest line to get Eternal Bonding unlocked when it's released. {Hmmm.}

nopenopenopenope glad it's not my server nopenopenope
Our Free Company has an Edda Pureheart and Avere Bravearm.
The best part was when someone made Edda our free company was nuts enough to invite her. And half the free company was like "THIS IS THE GREATEST THING" and the other half was just "NOPE" [x has logged out]
The Sorceress Eddamecia...
:::shiver::
Heh.
I specifically hope we don't go there. It's too played out, the whole "you killed the person that went bad, now here's their redeemed Yoda ghost scene where their spirit is finally at rest" scenario. I want to see this deal go completely batshit insane. I'm hoping for Edda becoming some twisted voidsent thing that's lost entirely to malice, and if you don't destroy her new physical form and banish her to the void she's going to lay mindflayer eggs in everyone's nose. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, KILL IT WITH FIRE. XD
Based on her pilgrims outfit she clearly went to amdapoor township, probably after the we cleared the area.
I wonder if she'll be in a tam tara extreme? Or perhaps amdapoor township or keep HM?
As a noob conjurer back then her quest taught me to always stick close to the tank. They all certainly made an impact on me then.
A shame she didn't return as a courier quest. With her body "dead" and her skill in necromancy and dealings with void sent I take it she'll be similar to lady haukke
