Let's not act like it is at all difficult to gear to i90. The final boss needs to have gear but I see no problem with crafting gear in chests. When it was just ak/wp, all that gear just went to waste. Sure some of it is worthless, but I like some rarity. Better then having a bunch of gear everyone has and nobody cares about.

This was on page two but according to the Lodestone database you can get it from Hullbreaker Isle or Tam-tara. The database is actually pretty nice as far as dungeon drop listings are concerned.

More crafting mats = more money for my pockets and I just keep getting richer :)
Not complaining about anything lol. There are loads of crafters out there who either don't want to take the time to get the crafting materials or are simply to lazy to go and get the mats. So I go into every dungeon with craft mat drops as my healer or DPS class and just rack up. Sell on market and shout/trade in mordhona plus combined with the ridiculous amount of money that the hunts give, I'm rolling in the gil lol. Its like taking candy from a baby, simple supply and demand job. SE has given me a reason to become filthy richer than before :) I've even noticed that coke has become really popular and the peacock ore and potash are really popular as well. Though I have GSM maxed out and not a serious crafter, people always seem to want these items for crafting. Keep em coming SE :)

i dont mind the crafting mats, just wish the 4 boss coffers were gear only

At the very least, the final boss chest should always drop a piece of gear.

Two solutions:

Boss chests always drop gear. Mats are worthwhile, and putting them in side chests would actually give people a reason to go and open them.

Many of the mats are obtainable from GC Seals, etc. Give us an optional way to obtain some of the i70/i80 gear. We want it for various reasons, even if there's better stuff available easily with myth. We're swimming in myth tomes now, so how about those?

As someone with all jobs at 50, I can honestly say I still see more craft mats drop than gear that I can use. Maybe my RNG is just horrible, but I have yet to complete any of the sets from 2.2, and it seems like it's not any better in 2.3.

Solution : stop complaining.

I don't think they should be taken out entirely but the loot tables need to be adjusted to favor gear, and the mats should NEVER drop from boss chests.

Why a boss chest SHOULD BE a worthless piece of gear ? Just because WOW did it that way ? Just because you are used to ? Come on.

I don't see a problem with the crafting drops. They keep supply up for the crafters which keeps the prices reasonable (crafters need a ton of these materials.) A lot of people lot the gear to turn into GC points to buy more crafting mats.

From the perspective of gearing up a new character, these drops are more of a bonus. The system is designed to push you into i90 faster so you can start doing current end-game instead of trudging through dated content to catch everyone else. You run a dungeon and if the gear doesn't drop, you get myth and soldiery tomes to get gear that you need even more than the dungeon drops. If that doesn't float your boat then do your daily hunt bills and within 3 days you can buy an i90 item. In no time you'll be geared enough for Labyrinth of the Ancients which drops nothing but gear that is equivalent to the best dungeon drops in the new dungeons. This leads into coil, leads into Syrcus Tower and let's not forget about all that soldiery you're getting to boost your ilvl more. If an armor drops that you need, congratulations you get an immediate bonus to your ilvl. Yet another alternative in this system is if you're getting mat drops, you sell them and can soon buy ilvl 70 gear, it doesn't even have to be HQ anymore cause your only goal is to bump your ilvl up to be able to enter more content.

From a vanity perspective, it's "working as intended" because the vanity grind is what keeps old content turning. You keep trying to get vanity gear which has a smaller chance to drop which keeps you running the dungeon. It's no different from the other vanity gear such as the sailor outfit which, if one didn't want to pay the outrageous price for, would have to pop a large number of treasure coffers to get the required materials for. All the time you're grinding out your vanity, you're getting crafting mats which can then be sold to crafters to help them along in their game.

If you need that tingling feeling you get when gear drops out of the final chest, it's nice but let's not kid ourselves that a vast majority of people are there for myth and soldiery tomes for the gear they need. I would argue that most don't care what comes out of the final chest unless they want the crafting mat or to lot a piece of gear that they can turn into GC seals to buy a crafting mat for use or profit.

Whether they did this to keep us re-running the content, or not, it honestly feels wrong to get mats after a boss fight. Those items could be scattered about the dungeon like x-pots are. I personally will keep hitting dungeons for tomes regardless of the loot, so that argument honestly feels invalid.

I actually just posed this question in the Letter from the producer thread, please like the post, because we really need an answer for this one! :p

It is a harsh disappointment to not get a gear drop, but something you can easily buy on the market.

After go almost 50x in new dungeon, I caught complete Divine Harvest set. But only for glamour. It is lower than gear bought with Myth.

The gear is pretty good for Frontlines and i80 PvP.

Yeah, it is incredibly frustrating as well as demotivating. Being the kind of no-life-weekender I am, I decided to spam the Expert roulette. Ten times. In all my runs, 17 chests dropped crafting materials. Some were worth gil, most were Cooking Sherry, Minium, Filtered Water and that whetstone. The gear that dropped were not worth glamouring (accessories and belts).

What's funny is that during 2.2, everyone I partied with ALWAYS Greeded on the ilvl70 gear they could Need on (even during the first week). Now? Because of how frequent the crafting materials drop, people are noticeably frustrated and are abandoning their etiquette to Need on the gear.

The point that so many people are missing. If you want crafting mats, there are other places besides the dungeons to get them. You can get them with seals or on the MB. When the dungeons drop crafting mats, they usually only drop one at a time anyway, and you can't do most crafts with just one so it's not actually saving crafters a lot of time/money to have a chest drop one potash for example. And seals aren't hard to come by, you can get them from leves and Fates. And by trading in armor, but if no armor drops then you can't. On the flipside, the armor that drops cannot be bought or traded or crafted, so whatever your reason for wanting it, the dungeon is your only option. Obviously even with no craft mats you'd still have to deal with rng, but at least your chances would be better.

Make everyone happy and just put the materials into the side chests rather than the main chests; it would equal out to about the same amount of materials per dungeon (or more) and make it so actual gear drops from the main chests.

Or have the bosses drop the materials rather than them coming from the chest, or have them be uncommon/rare drops from trash mobs.

Yes it is saving gil/money. Having it drop from mobs something everyone does makes the amount on the MB go way up. Your right you can not do much with 1, still how many none crafting people sell theirs on the market board? driving the price down.

it sucks and I kinda do not care seeing as the i70 stuff is worthless nowadays. They should make it a rare item used in the i90 syths now at least. I do agree that rate to gear/systh items suck >.<

I have to say this's one of my biggest pet peeves. Especially as a DPS to sit in queue for a half hour only to get filtered water. Seems to me most people aren't even doing the dungeons, they're out doing hunts for their myth and soldiery and to get easy sands, so the queue times are horrible, even when I queue healing. They really need to fix this shit. ASAP.

it is annoying. My last TT HM run it was almost all mats. I get it's to help the crafters, but honestly why give us seals to spend while we farm atma, animus, or what ever else to buy these things and slap these in our face on the loot rolls. I don't care if voidsent blood drops occasionally or what ever, but gear should appear more often than not. People go to these instances to get experience and to get gear. It seems at least the Darklight stuff dropped more often than not in the last 3 "expert roulette" but now it's all crafting stuff thats the exact same as the last. I also like what someone else said here about making the crafting materials in the extra chests along side the potions, exlixers, and ethers. This will help encourage full clears when crafters are in the party.

I've ran about 40 or so of all of the new dungeons (all together) and received five pieces of equipment, everything else has been materials. I've yet to even see a Robe of Divine Death, which is what I'm hunting for. It's incredibly demoralizing and as a result I'm already losing interest in the new update after only a few days.

Ran enough Hullbreaker Isle until my i90 gears get 100% spiritbonded.

Still yet to see Curaiss of the Divine War :(

Okay? Not entirely sure why you're telling me something that is completely unrelated to the point I was making.

Remove crafting mats from boss chests, people will Greed rather than Need (even for glamour purposes) because they know they'll have a chance at getting the gear another time, as well as give people who actually Need the gear for upgrading purposes a guarantee in getting the gear.

Normally, I would Greed on gear I don't Need (even if I wanted it for Glamour). But because crafting materials seem to have an obnoxiously high drop rate compared to equipment, I Needed the second I saw the Robe of Divine Death drop (it was made for my characters colour. Red hair, red robe. Orange streaks in hair, orange scarf). I would have Greeded if Filtered Water, Minium or Cooking Sherry didn't drop ten times back to back from the final boss of Tam-Tara and Hullbreaker.

I think the issue is that mat drops from dungeons have a very small window of uses. They're there to craft with or sell; that's it.

On the other hand, gear drops have several more uses:
-Turned into seals to put toward any GC item including Philo mats
-Desynth fodder
-Money making
-Used to gear up lowbie alts/new players quicker than only buying Myth/Soldiery
-Used for Glamour

What's more, now these dungeons even have accessories diluting the loot tables in addition to the philo mats. The odds now of getting a specific piece is far worse than it was with the last wave of dungeons. I've capped Myth several times trying to pick up these sets, and I still don't even have a complete set of any of the new i80. I could have geared an entire job with Myth, or even have made a few i90 crafted with all the myth I got. I'd be halfway through another Animus if I were working on one. What's more, you could take DPS queues into account. 15 minutes for a single attempt is too much when what you want has next to no chance of dropping.

Philo mats and/or i80 accessories should really be relegated to minor or bonus chests. As it is now, the system just wears at everyone's patience. There's plenty of things for us to grind and beat our heads against, dungeons really don't have to be one of them, SE

Unbelievable no. Silly yes. Especially even more so that you are complaining about the drops and you could run into the same issue just waiting for that one piece of gear. I still have yet to see the Darklight bracelets of healing. A piece I could actually use on my healer. Or battlemage robes. I don't know how many brayflox runs I have done and never seen this drop. Let's not forget all the loot from DD. I finally bought the templar boots to complete the set. This doesn't even include the other sets that are supposed to drop from there.

I get that you've had a negative experience with DD and Brayflox NM, but fact is, the 2.3 dungeons have the most diluted drop tables in the entire game. That is the issue of the topic. And above, you're asking why someone would use the i80 when i90 Myth is available, yet you turn around and complain about a Darklight drop? I don't understand what you're trying to say.

Been farming these dungeons for over two days, for a total of 12 hours. Only got the first tank body peice. Sure I tossed need when I got the chance on other gear. But comon, I'm able to get more darklight drops on the old dungeons than this crap!

I could of gone hunting, coil raiding, or actually helping new players out in dungeons.

You know, the stuff that ACTUALLY/SHOULD take alot of time to invest. Not this! Time for change SE, time for change.

Just put the craft crap in the side chests, there is around 4 extra chests in the dungeon maps you can put them in. And have 4 boss chests, its a fair change.

This thread is still going strong, and probably ignored by SE. The bright side is, Destiny is right around the corner.

Obviously. But pulling 4 items from the pool increases your chances by a great deal. No one is asking for instant gratification; we're saying that farming these for specific items takes an inordinate amount of time compared to virtually everything else in the game. Crafters would still be able to get crafting materials in either case, as they can turn in gear for Seals and people who farm for Glamour would simply Need on their desired piece. It'd be marginally slower for the crafters, sure, but they have dozens of avenues for money making already. On the other hand, Glamour bait is only available via dungeon drop

Even if it's gear I can't use, just seeing it drop is better than being rewarded with Cooking Sherry, Filtered Water, Minium and {something} Whetstone. Actually did a dungeon today where only those dropped. Everyone Passed. If it were gear, everyone would Greed (for glamour or GC seal purposes)
