Buy it anyway. What are they going to do, kick you? Oh wait lol
The annoying thing is that they KNOW the way the rooms work now are problematic, but they decided to give us an unfinished "product" instead (seem they didn't learn from the mistake they made last time).
Can FC's not limit room buying to certain ranks?
To be honest, if my FC told me I couldn't have a room, I'd have left them. It's a bit too dodgy as they're obviously not sure if they want to keep you in the FC.
lol, this is just stupid, im with OP. Why in bloody balls is this tied to the FC housing? /shrug ... maybe I got a little spoiled with the Wildstar housing.
As the Boss of OP's FC, I can assure all of you that it is NOT because we want to kick him out. I have said time and time again since last night that we are buying a LARGE HOUSE, an upgrade from our medium one. I locked EVERYONE out so that nobody wastes 300k gil if they miss a macro spam during the day, or fail to read our Greeting when they log in.
It's not everyday you log in the forums looking for something else and find a post about yourself. O.o
SE just doesn't seem to think about how systems like this can be abused. Kind of like how when "ready check" was first added, you could spam ready check during combat, causing that window to harass all 24 players in CT. No one knew who was initiating it, and you couldn't attack until you minimized the window.
There will be drama. Imagine a small FC of about 12 raiders, where one guy is on hostile terms with 4 or 5 members, but stays because he is personal friends with one or two officers. People roll on gear, have arguments, get a little fight in them, say some mean things. The majority of the FC members talk privately with the leader about getting rid of the guy, and they come to the agreement that he needs to leave. Oh, but wait, he doesn't WANT to leave. And now he has a private room, so they can't kick him. Then you've got a stand off where one guy with a private room tells the other 11 members of the FC to leave.
So now you call SE with an harassment report, right? But you never would have reported this guy originally. You wouldn't have brought it to SE's attention, because the FC can handle it's own drama with the right tools. Now how long will it be before SE responds? What will their "official" policy be? Do they return loot stolen by company chest ninjas? Not that I recall. So how are they going to handle this situation?
Now after a patch or two, FC leaders can kick anyone. But maybe the FC leader gets upset, and kicks a bunch of players he disagrees with. Maybe it's a 200+ member FC, and the owner decides to remove inactive players. How many players will log in, suddenly down 300k with no private room, and file harassment reports against the leader? They would normally have just found a new FC, but since they lost something, they grab SE's attention. What will SE's response be? To punish the FC leader? Or to punish the individual players for "abusing" the report system?
Honestly, it's pretty simple: The Private Room should just go with you. If you leave a FC or get kicked from one, your room is still there, just inaccessible until you join a new FC with a company house. Perhaps you have to pay like a 30k 'relocation' fee or something (because SE seems to be bound and determined to make everything cost money), but otherwise the room is just how you left it.
SE's lead developers and designers seem absolutely determined to make things as pointlessly complicated and difficult as they possibly can. Look at Glamour, as a perfect example: Pointlessly complicated and difficult, with very little overall functionality (If I want to have multiple functional outfits, I have to have multiple sets of the same gear glamoured to different things? OH WAIT, you mean the best gear in the game is unique and I can only have one set?).
Yeah, I kinda jumped the gun and assumed the worst instantly. Our FC IS planning to buy a bigger house, and members would likely lose money from the change if they buy a room before that happens. BUT my argument still stands, if it were tied to an inn room or implemented better, things like this wouldn't be a problem. SE still has a major problem they need to fix.
yeah but look here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...94#post2247794
Gil spent on a private chamber will not be returned to a player when they are kicked from a free company; however, furniture that can be removed from the room will be stored with the “Resident Caretaker” NPC for a certain amount of time, and only the player will be able to retrieve them.
youre out 300k....and if you dont the stuff you bought thats gone too?
yeah i am good here. this whole thing has too many cons than pros.
we could get a fc leader that goes googoo gaga and kicks players and youre out . i suggest people patiently wait for personal housing. im tired of relying on some guy or fc to act right and you never know... what is taking sooo long for p. housing??
If your FC is really gonna kick you out for buying a personal room, leave that FC
Find a better FC? This is their doing, not SE's.
Private chambers should just be a one time purchase and mark it on the account so if they move to another FC (Or get kicked) they aren't out 300k. But hey what do us people with common sense know?
We've been saving up money for awhile, and we're almost ready to get a new house! We tried to restrict people from buying the rooms so they don't waste their own cash, but a few people didn't listen. Now we cannot even buy our new house unless we convince them to give up their room. We're perfectly willing to pay 300k to them, but Square Enix really screwed this one up and created a stressful situation for FC's in our position, or FC"s who ever want to upgrade to a new house.
They really should have put it under rank permissions, they've managed to put the chocobo training under there, yet left out the room purchase?. The only way to circumvent this when you have recruits, is to make that rank have no ability to even go in the house....which looks really great for their new FC heh.
By all respect, but you should really look for another Free Company then. Best one with a leader who has a clue.
Well, it is not their call. Never has been, never will be.
And, in case you did not notice it yet: YOU chose the FC, not vice versa.
Yeah, sure.
Cheers,
Sol
Leave. The. FC.
Sure, but it's not the question of the OP if the FC leader is right or wrong. And the OP also did not ask to be lectured about the FC leader's motives. Well, in fact, the OP only wanted to rant, no advice of any kind was requested.
So the only really useful advice for this person: If you don't like this place, then pack your stuff and go to another estate whose inhabitants comply to your expectations.
Seems like this could of been avoided if instead of overreacting OP you spoke to your FC leader, you know like most people would of done.
Wow, you can tell who actually reads the entirety of threads here. ><
(And how many members actually read the log in info and FC chat... :( )
Readers' Digest version:
OP - omg I can't buy a room in my FC house!!! <___>
FC leader - As I've been telling you guys repeatedly in game, we will be upgrading to a large house from our medium and I don't want you wasting your gil (or blocking us from buying a new house).
OP - oh my bad
People who don't read - OMG LEAVE TEH FC!!1 <_____>
Turning a feature people wanted into a feature people can use to shaft eachother.
SE borked all of this content - the personal housing that is in no way actually personal, chocobo raising that is out of reach for all but the rich fc's that are already producing lots of glazenuts and broombush, all of it.
SE, instead of this race to churn out content, can you just sit down and THINK about what you are adding before you add it? I just can't understand how not ONE guy on that dev team said "Hey, what if a FC member is a problem or what if a FC wants to upgrade to a bigger house?"
I also think it would be better to seperate the personal housing from the FC. I was so happy to hear about personal housing... but now I am really unhappy that my room has to be in the FC house (our house is really small) and that i can't have my own Little garden :(
You are right I also think this might be a huge Problem :/
I really would like to get my own chamber but atm i don't know how long my FC will stay alive.... we are about 10 members and only 3 ones are active :/ So who knows how long i will stay... and if I don't know it would be a mess to spend 300k
For the record, the said Free company in question only halted the buying of private housing because they were getting a bigger house, which they did. Just had to make sure the funds were available. Because not getting a refund for 300K would've sucked.
