So I just killed him, saw the loot pop up on screen saying i got a seal and tomes, but how do i turn in the quest to get the 20 seals?
The location is not random. Just saw it for the second time by boulder downs at (15,28) in the same exact spot. I was waiting there and it spawned right in front of me. Finally got credit for it.
Also I tried to be nice and hold it so more people could come but what happened was a crowd started building up and once someone started attacking there were so many people waiting that it was over in 5 seconds and most didnt even get credit for the kill. It sounds nice to wait and let people get there but theres really no point once about 10 people are there.
I got the normal weekly bonus + an extra 10 allied seals, 30 myth, and 10 soldier.
Guess I got the mid reward. It died so fast I could only cast 3 times as a BLM.
Seen it once right where chimera clicky is
seen it 2 locations:
-where chimera pops (32,6)
-near Griffin Crossing (29,29)
and i heard/read about:
-infront of aurum vale
-natalan
-DzHold
-Behemoth Dominion
Everyone seems to be concerned with the extra 20 allied marks for naul but it seems to me with all the work needed to get him and alex costing 200 this isnt a very time efficient way of getting alex. Has anyone tried going after the S rank mobs? anyone get a confirmed kill and can state how much AM they got for it? As it stands it seems to me myth farming is still by far more efficient.
sadly it doesnt matter where it pops, the first 4 ppl to reach it have it dead in 30 seconds and the other 100 people on the way are screwed. i dont blame those who kill it!!! but i certainly do blame a very poorly implemented 2k hp nm that the entire server is after on se and a very bad idea/plan. it needs adjusting today...right now se plz or allow us to pop it with the bill ourselves.
At the Hunt board it only shows Naul as the elite hunt. How do you see the other elites hunts from A & S rank? I don't think I saw another bill for it. Do you have kill Naul to see the next ranked elite hunt?
From what I gather, there are 3 monsters that spawn in an area, find a Hunterscholar in said area, they will tell you the names of the marks along with their rank and a small description.
I haven't managed to down Naul yet due to crowds, so don't know what the bonus is for taking out the mark that you have the bill for, but have downed a couple of others in different areas and got 20 seals for both, plus myth and soldier tomes on one of them - I mainly healed non party members on one so maybe my participation wasn't sufficient for tomes.
Sat around for hours for Naul yesterday for it to spawn and be killed before half of us could even get there... =.= The elite marks should have more HP and take a bit longer to be killed.
Downed the Garlok an hour ago. 200 myth, 20 seals. Someone in the group got a bloody book.
Wandering around the Sepulchre in Southern Thanalan yesterday, we stumbled across a mark named A(something, I forgot, sorry) the Ashen. Worth 5 seals, 30 myth, 10 sol. Zombie music played while fighting him. XD There were two of us and a bird and he was an easy take down.
So is there really a point to dungeon roulettes now if you can get 200 myth for killing one mob?
If that was the issue and it was houndreds of players hitting it.... Problem is that 5 players can kill it in 20-25 seconds... So something is not ok
The other difference being most of us don't care about Odin and the like any more. These mobs drop marks to get some of the most demanded items in the game (sands of time much?). Also the Elite Bill adds marks to what you already get irrc. It won't die down any time soon. People are filling linkshells in less than a day just for hunting. SE really needs to at least treat this like FATEs where it'll gain HP based on how many fought it last.
Naul is practically impossible to kill with people being greedy and pulling early, it's low HP and terrible spawn time. I've never come across Safat in the highlands either, the conditions you meet don't make him spawn.
Holy crap, they only have 2k HP? I already knew this was gonna be horrible without some sort of claim system but didn't think it would be this bad. Seriously, just make it forced pop and claimed to the party that poped it if they didn't want to set up a claim system. Freaking horrible feature I swear.
Edit:
Nevermind, I just found out that there are apparently MUCH harder marks than Naul. However, since Naul keeps dropping seal and Sand/Oil books even if you already hunted him for the week, everyone rather camp him all FREAKING week instead of going for the harder marks.
This means it is sort of like a claim system, the first few people to spot it will kill it before anyone else get to it. Actually, after thinking about it like that, I like this system. People who work harder will be rewarded for it and people have to keep track of its spawn timer now.
That was pretty much my luck until 2am last night. Came across Naul just outside of Behemoth's Dominion, with a few people already standing there waiting. One person said they weren't going to advertise...I had been trying since the patch to find this thing only to miss him by a matter of seconds/minutes each time, so I went along with it. More people showed, someone pulled, and he was dead in about 10 seconds. Thankfully I got full credit. Seeing this first hand I can see why people won't wait for others to cross the zone for a kill. He just dies way too fast to risk not getting credit, as do other rares around every zone.
I think there may be some truth to this. I saw 2 spawns of Naul today and they both happened right around the time the Svara FATE popped. Unsure exactly if Naul spawned before, during, or after Svara, but it was about the same time in both instances. Also, if you talk to the Hunter Scholar NPC, his clue mentions both Naul and Svara.
IF it does turn out that the Svara FATE is in fact a spawn condition for Naul, then the only way to speed up Naul spawns is to get Svara FATE to pop, which means clearing other FATES to get them to cycle faster...oh boy...
Incidentally, I was too late to the first Naul spawn to get credit but was lucky enough to be nearby for the second Naul spawn so I was one of the first ones there. Couple people (strangers) there with me were nice enough to invite me to their party, shout the <pos> and hold their attack for others to show up. But once about a dozen people gathered, one person apparently got nervous and pulled = Naul was down in literally 15-20 seconds.
Some latecomers started berating us in /shout for not waiting longer, but what people don't get is that it gets harder to earn kill credit the more people that are there. Think of mob HP as a pie. You need to take off a set % off that pie to get kill credit. The more people, the less mob HP pie there is to go around. So waiting for latecomers doesn't help anybody, because more players wailing on a mob = less contribution % for everybody = lower chance for each player to earn enough to get kill credit.
Basically, if I hadn't been at the second Naul spawn right from the start, there's no way I would have gotten kill credit. I know because I experienced not getting kill credit when I showed up late to the first Naul spawn and only got a few hits in.
Elite hunts need to change, either by increasing spawn frequency, increasing mob HP, only awarding seals to those who have the elite mark bill, and/or greater variety of mobs so everybody and their mom isn't hunting the same mob.
TL;DR
Don't hate the players, hate the game. Occupy Coerthas. The mockingjay lives.
Killed him twice, in an 8 man group, only got 1 seal and didn't count for my weekly reward.
Yeah somethings wrong there!
5 from my FC (plus birds) killed the Middle La Noscea rank A mark Vogaal Ja yesterday. No problem to kill him; kind of like the easiest peisteskin map with the basilisk. We each got 20 allied seals and lots of tomes. This is one thing that makes me happy I play opposite server prime time...
Has anyone found/killed any rank S marks? The info from the Hunter Scholars really seems like clues to making them show up. With Croque-Mitaine, the rank S goobue from Middle LN, there's all this about him liking worms and gardens and something about a river meeting the fields (I'd guess the Agelyss River outside Summerford). I don't know if the "clues" actually do anything (which would be cool) or if they're just decorative. :/
@sadana on,y seen and killed two S rank, one was a giant tree in sylph lands! killed so many people! reward was 50 seals and 200 myth, not sure for sold as I was capped but said I couldn't obtain.
Also killed a huge demon in camp overlook by the coeurl area, same rewards, same amount of deaths, honestly they seemed stronger than Odin and behemoth
Popped yesterday and asked those that announced it several times omw please hold well maybe was 40 seconds away and they had it killed.
Elite hunts = not worth the hassle
The Oil and Sands of time you can get, or even the Alexandrite, makes it very much worth it...
It can be a pain sometimes though, I'm not denying that, but today for example, someone called out a S ranked Elite Mark (hunting Linkshell), I got there as soon as I could, and it hadn't started yet. The S ranked ones require lots of people to take it down (quickly at least), so you have a better chance of people waiting, or that it just takes them long enough to kill it, for you to get there in time.
Teleporting there and killing it took like 5-6 mins, and I got 200 Myth, 50 Sol(?) and 50 Mark Seals.... That to me sounds like the biggest reward per minute in the game.
So... Worth it, but could need some changes to make it more enjoyable.
Every time I see people shouting for Naul I think of Super Kami Guru.
"Naul. Naul."

I was in Central Thanalan yesterday doing the main story quest. On my was to a destination I seen this giant Mammet I was like oh snap a mark. I went to check what it was from the nearest Scholar and the name was Vovolga(Rank B) or something like that. I was super excited for my first kill and went back to the Scholars.
I talked to the Scholars again in the area and the Rank A mark is a Cactur Ballerina and the Scholars said that it blooms two times a year and attracts saboturers withe their smell that drives them crazy. There are no Saboturers in Central Thanalan only Cacturs. My guess it would spawn near the Cacturs when it rained in Central thanalan.
The Rank S in that area is a big Cyclops. It escaped and loves the smell of food. i thought to my self where are people cooking. I found this NPC that was cooking and said the aroma of what you're cooking smells wonderful. I thought to my self aha it must spawn near hear. I waited like an hour and nothing. I wonder what conditions will spawn it or is it on a set timer. Regardless that hint sucked lol. All of them do
