Honestly don't know why Frontlines doesn't begin with all the players who pressed accept.
24v24v23 is barely noticable. Surely one extra player can just drop in?

What's REALLY weird is...
Think of all the MMOs you have played with a similar system (you hit queue.. wait for queue to pop...)
How many do people just sit there declining the queue they sat in?!
I mean really FFXIV is the 1st time I've ever seen this be an issue.
It likely fills each party then pairs full parties to form the alliances. It probably only reduces to 48 or 24 total if one or more GCs doesn't have enough full parties.
Seriously? Patch has been up less than 8 hours, meaning, a lot of people are queuing for Frontlines while taking on new quests.
Quest Cut Scene + Duty Pop = Can't Accept Duty Pop
I managed to get 4 runs in and it was a lot of fun. I'd let things settle before calling foul.
I would get that all of the time while in the queue for the dungeon/trial/guildhest roulettes. If it happens enough times I'll get another error message along the lines of "Something happened to the server, blah, blah, blah. Please try again later."
It makes me want to flip tables like Titan sometimes.
There are a number of reasons this happens so much in FFXIV, but it mostly stems from how the game will tell you that a dungeon is in progress. WoW actually had this very same problem back when the Dungeon Finder was released in WotLK. When a dungeon popped, it would tell you if it was in-progress and which bosses were still alive. As a result, you frequently had tanks queueing and withdrawing, fishing for an in-progress run. Blizzard quickly realized that this was a bad idea, and so they removed the indicator that told you if a dungeon was in progress after a few patches.
The second biggest reason is that FFXIV requires a completely full party before commencing *any* duty. All of the most recent MMOs I've played (WoW, Wildstar, and TERA) don't require a full group for anything other than 5-man dungeons. For PvP, they all stick you in the instance as soon as you click "Accept". Anyone who withdraws or doesn't accept is simply replaced with the next person in the queue during the 2 minute pre-match preparation time.
Yeah it's happening to me too. 71/72 some person withdraws >.>.
1st point for dungeons is very true.
2nd point I thought about that but even then it was the exception when a BG commenced with odd numbers of people. Usually by the time the gates opened (Rift, WoW, etc) both teams were full up. So what about 1 minute after the queue initially poped?
Actually I guess that works. In this case were just seeing the people cycle out as long as the frontlines actually commences within a minute it's about the same as the other games. Just those you don't SEE an indication of people joining/dropping like we do in FFXIV.
Really they should prolly change it to not drop every time 1 person declines but instead leave the window up for the 60 seconds you have to respond. And as long as a full instance responds yes by the end it start. Would make it less frustrating for the rest.
SE would have to change their stance on allowing players to specifically ask for in-progress runs, though. Personally I would be ok with this. It baffles me how they thought this was a better idea than just filtering people into the duty finder as they queue. If you want a full run, queue the specific instance or form a full party to queue randoms (which I understand is impossible in this game as well, way to go SE! that's some rock solid design there!)
Yep, this is precisely how it works everywhere else - I don't know why SE insists on copying partial systems from other games then going through the exact same growing pains that were already solved ten years ago.
They should have just made it automatically bring you into Carteneau Flats and sit behind a gate waiting for the instance to fill up. You wouldn't have to hit join in progress because the battle wouldn't start until 72 people joined.
I didn't have much of a problem with it happned once before got into a match.
This is so piss annoying. Like, how many times do I have to see 71/72 people are queued, before the last person freaking decides to withdraw. Ugh. Frustration.
Thank God they fixed this with CT back when the game officially released last year. Oh wait...
they also should of took our suggestions from CT if they didnt that far back too. the same thing is happening like CT....not only that, you're relying on 71 god dang ppl
to accept que...next thing you know
68/72
49/72
51/72.
eventually this thing probably wont even be played anymore in the future because you have to rely on too many ppl. give them a penalty
when they dont accept que or purposely trolling it. -_- i had stopped CT for a long time because because i waited nearly 2 hours coz ppl kept
trolling que...good luck to you all. -.-
To be honest though, a lot of people are busy getting story stuff and quest lines done. So maybe they end up in a cutscene trying to unlock something. I think it'll get better over time. FL, however, is fun as hell. Never doing PvE for tomes again probably.
does say groups of 8 can go instead of 24
Frontlines are a lot of fun, but there's not a chance I'm going to touch it again until they fix the queue. Right now I'm at more than 120 "A party member has withdrawn..." messages and I don't have the patience to see how much higher they get (just for kicks and giggles).
Edit: I stopped counting after 120, but shortly thereafter I finally got a full group. Yay!
My frontlines experience so far:
2 mins of actuall queue
50 mins of trolling by people who withdraw
1 duty finder error forcing me to requeue
Penalties are REQUIRED now more than ever.
really frustrating, such an amazing add on of frontline, really good system. just bad entry method. just do it GW2 style and have 30min rounds
I've genuinely enjoyed the Frontline system ever so much. One of the best features in this patch to give the old bloodlust a kick. ;P
I can accept first day issues without any problems; but I don't think the Duty Finder system is applicable for something like this.
Then again; CT. xD
SE please fix this! Could you please add a penalty for members withdrawing too many times? ><;
We all anticipated the issues because friends are on opposing sides and they're trying to queue up with friends...
Why does this have to be a instance? Couldn't they have you know...used the existing non populated open world map for something like this? Run the matches every so often, get people to sign up at the NPC and don't make people wait in a damn que if there isn't perfect numbers.
Oh well...gotta have dat cross server play.
80 damn minutes of withdrawing and people not accepting que, I gave up with wasting more time waiting for this dumbass system . Guess I'll do the other new content before then.
It's trully absurd like 8 times it's gotten to 71/72 then bam withdraw. Plz fix this!
On the plus side, I've heard nothing but good news so far about the content (once you get in). :)
This is me as a tank with pretty much everything. 4-man stuff? I'll probably have to requeue six times at least just to finally get in because healers/dps always go AFK and forget that they're in a queue, and it almost always gets worse the higher up it goes on the required player count.
Sure doesn't seem like they had enough QA to test the servers then, 'lmao'.
This is an issue they've had a year to address now, starting with CT and now moving to CT2 and Frontlines. This issue won't get much better than it did with the old CT. Wait for queue to pop. Wait for people to stop withdrawing. Eventually get in.
If anything, right now it's probably even easier because a massive number of people want to experience it for the first time!
this game .. shouldnt be focused in pvp .. its FFXIV worst side
so i wish if SE stop spending time in doing pvp and
put more time in what is FFXIV about .. which is the PVE side of the game
which is the main side and the part that they good at.
This withdraw abuse has practically been here since release. It's clearly not going to get fixed. People are now starting to do it on trials roulette, I guess hoping to get in progress for newcomer bonus and/or echo.
I immediately got sold for FFXIV before the release because of frontlines, then it got pushed back. Now dont get me wrong, the system within front line is amazing as it is, and the fact they will add seige weapon and gates etc with ninja stealthiness will add even more flavor. But I can not help but to feel disappointing on the duty finder issue, so please yoshida for the love of Eorzea do short term hotfix followed by different zoning system in 2.35 PUHLEEASE
And in english: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...g-Improvements
I love you SE, that was a nice and fast fix
Thank you very much SE, very enjoyable content, good to see it's going to be fixed.
Greetings everyone,
I've seen a few people post the news, but I'll quote it here to make it more visible as well. We're definitely aware of the frustration that this is causing everyone and this is one of the dev. team's highest priority items to address.
Here are the dev. team's current plans to address the Frontline matchmaking issue that players have been experiencing:
that was fast :O , so when is the fix going live? :S
