YES, PLEASE!!!
FFXI's search system for god's sake!! IMO it was perfect!
And yea, that SHOULD be a priority, since our leves got nerfed.
/bump thread for truth.
Great thread! I agree 100% please add "looking for party flag" and a search function just like FFXI. The search function from FFXI was very user friendly and functional, and that is what we need for FFXIV. This should be top priority. Acctually, I have not been playing FFXIV for the very reason that the current search engine sucks bad. I would play all the time if you impliment the FFXI search.
I've had full 50 dowdom classes for like 3 or 4 months now. I still agree w/ OP. Hoping dev has responded/responds shortly.
This is needed so badly. I can't imagine a time where i could for any reason think that finding a party should require more than two steps. The current system takes what, 15?
Agree! C'8
Totally agree! :D
I hadn't been posting on these forums, but I guess I'll start on the chance SE listens. Would hate for my voice, and that of many other non-forum people, to be drowned by a vocal minority.Quote:

It looks like we're getting a party focus (which I love), but that really needs a decent lfg to go with it. Even hardcore players enjoy playing out of their ls sometimes.... or at the very least do it when ls is empty and they need a sixth (or eighth, as the case may be).
Ohhh My GOD, I totally agree!!!!!!!! I party with my LS for the most part but sometimes i log in at hours that my LS is either already engage (doing leves, grind, etc) and the party is full or there is just no people to play. If i'm in the mood to solo that is no problem at all, but if i want to party it becomes utterly frustrating to get a party formed; and getting invited to a party is a waste of time. Really, they need to simplify things.
Devs don't want to get rid of the current system?? They probably have their hands full with other in-game problems, but please a little improvement to the current system at the very least is most needed.
The /sea all command; is not that much to ask, is it????
The current system is just moronic. I'm hoping the guy who designed it got fired when the staff got changed around. The search function in 14 is just stupid. It makes SE look really really bad. Probably why so many people jumped ship in the first week.
I come back every patch to see whats changed... sadly they fix the tiny little things but keep the MAJOR problems and tell everyone "its working as intended".
It doesn't matter if its working as intended or if its how it was designed to be. Its not something that we want. That's something that the dev team doesn't seem to get into their heads. Its not about what THEY want. Its about what WE want.
But I bet that most of the time the dev team now are just looking over code saying "lol who wrote this?" for the most part.
Stop adding new content and start fixing existing content. Make that the top priority.
A response to this topic would be appreciated.
Agree, and I would like to add to that with the restriction on removing/disbanding/teleporting in a party while one or more people are engaged in battle. This is horribly annoying and I don't see the purpose to it. The other night a friend of mine was in my party and at Horizon while I was at Tranquil. He could not teleport or leave the party because I was fighting.
Also I would like the ability to invite someone mid-battle if I am having difficulty in a fight, especially now since there is penalty with return.
And I'm sure this has been covered by someone but I want to mention it, a full size option for the chat log like XI has. Also maybe more options for creating customized tabs (like for linkshell or party) and not another chat window that clutters up the screen.
Totally agree!
Would be awesome additionally to the (LFG-)flag and /sea command structure from FFXI to have a menu based search function, where you can filter the various search criteria (class, level range, flag type, etc.) that gives the result list. This list should be the same that pops up when using the /sea text command.
I would like something similar to the ffxi system, with the colored dots to display what type of group you are looking for and the /sea all function and search comment.
But, i would like a couple improvements to it:
1) allow the person searching for group to select what class they want to be displayed while searching. This way they can do other things like craft and gather while looking for a group on lancer. If they are not looking for group, when someone /sea name they would get the persons current class.
2) allow party leader to right click on the player that is looking for a group so that the leader can see what other classes they have. This would be nice so that you can see if the DD/tank/Mage has access to preferred abilities for the task at hand. This would also help if a conjurer/dd/tank isn't openly searching for a group, but someone who is lfp might have access to the role. This will also be good when evaluating if you want to invite someone to the LS.
I think the ffxi system with those improvements would be just about perfect.
This feature needs to be implemented, now.
I have been saying this since day 1 that we need a seek/search system similar to FFXI.
i like how i posted on this yesterday and now its 1 of the main topics on forums... the most simple and greatest thing they could do is make it so you can actually create a good party easily. a /sea all feature(which can be /sea all con or gld etc with lvl range 1-50 not just a /sea all) like the one in 11 would be great. I think the biggest problem with the system now is nobody uses it, its confusing and its really clunky.
when i check it, its always a person making a party but never any info. if i created a party even with info im relying on ppl to check it and send me a tell which is a pain, i could look for ppl seeking now but thats rare. id be lucky to get 2-3 ppl my lvl to actually pt with this way.
PLEASE FIX THE PARTY CREATION/SEEKING SYSTEM!!!
Heres a vote: A: would you want to keep the ff14 system and have them try and fix it? could be done with announcement and all so ppl know and a easy guide to use it.
OR
B: have them completely get rid of current system for a completely new and usable one possibly copying most if not all of 11s system?
id like to see A but would be fine with B.
Yes now I realize actually that it cannot JUST be a flag up, because I want to be able to be doing leathercraft while LFP, and not show up a Tanner on the search.
So we need a LFP flag + Option to choose which class to show (or even multiple classes) + Box for typing in a message.
That would be SOLID! Not a very complicated thing at all.
Others that i would find super useful!
/random for raid l00t drops for less confusion with multi classes for one gear piece
/ls1 /ls2 * For quick LS Swop text.
And as always /kick ls member <name>
cheers
Hmm. Yes. I concur.
I've been complaining to my friends since beta, about not being able to put up a LFG flag or /see all. I want to be able to search every player with in a lvl range so i can /t them individually for pt. I find so many good grindin spots in the game, but I can't get people for parties thru shouting or thru my LS. Anywho, I'm sure they are working on this. I just hope they add it soon. It'd make my partying life much easier. I think the current system is overly complicated and clunky so people don't even both anymore.
Yes please, bring us back FFXI party invit system !
Yesterday a friend who wanted to seek for a party asked me to look if i could find him with the search thing.
He could see himself, I couldn't see a damn thing except the "result: none" no matter what i did. Great.
This and a real linkshell menu are two things that should really be done by now. Why ? Simply because a copy/paste from ffxi would have been just perfect.
I agree what is going on? where is the old FFXI search feature it was perfect!
I don't know what /sea will accomplish for you.
PLEASE give me the FFXI system to invite people, as the one for FFXIV don't work!
Certainly the party system could use a fix. My linkshell died while I was on hiatus from this game, and it's been just about impossible to use the current system to get a party together for the dungeons, or anything else for that matter.
FFXI's system wasn't perfect, but it worked. At least using it as a base for a new and improved system would really help the party creation dynamic (and thus, the game as a whole).
I am a player since beta and have not yet found a practical way of using the search feature. Please give me a /sea all " " command.
While we are on it, why can I not see what zone my party or even linkshell members are in? And also to add, why do I need to see who is NOT signed online in my Linkshell?
Bump! I refuse to let this die..
even with a perfect party search tool there will always be shouting, the search party really shines when your in a town shouting for a healer or tank and there is one available doing leves 10000 yalms away, where hes just killing time waiting for someone to invite.
Agreed. This party search/recruit function I've been using since launch and its pretty awful to be honest.
1) Search lasts 60 mins tops until it expires, its a pain starting a new one, then you wait another 60 mins for no one to join.
2) No one uses it therefore no one joins your party recruits, unless you shout in town for people to join and even then people don't use it
3) FF XI's works better, just go with that, solve a lot of issues for people and make things somewhat faster than it is for people who just want to group up, level and get $#!% done.
Not only should we have a search system for players, but the information should be incorporated into other things in the game as well, like friend lists and the linkshell menu.
I think it's ridiculous that in order to tell what classes my friends are and what ranks they're currently at I have to either ask them all or pull up their Lodestone profile out of the game. If the Lodestone can update every so often with all that information outside of the game I don't see how it could be so hard to periodically poll the server for some of it inside the game (like FFXI does) for a search function.
I agree whole heartedly.. It does not make sense that an outside application can be more functional than the program itself. FList and LSlist should display the Aetheryte Area a person is in what class they are and of course the basic functions of sending tells and invites and what not. The stupid Green light if they are online highlighted name if they are in the zone thing is pathetic.
But let's keep this on topic so SE actually does something to fix this severe issue..
Give us an Easy to use search function with a party flag and criteria to whittle down the results. Don't FORCE us to search for one person at a time..
Second to last in the popular thread list.. I fear all hope is lost.
