As a player of a damage-dealing class, I'm not surprised at long wait times. Not just in this game, by the by. There is a shortage of players taking the healer and (especially) the tank roles. Some don't want the responsibility that comes with it. Some don't want the blame when something goes wrong (especially when it isn't their fault). I know that I would certainly try tanking and healing for those that are in my Free Company and Linkshells. Maybe on my friendlist if I feel really comfortable with them. I haven't filled a healing role since I regularly a played a Monk/ Mesmer in the original Guild Wars.
I am not desperate enough to check all the other languages. Now if I were at least passably fluent in basic communication in Japanese and Deutsch. I can sort-of do it in French as I took two years of it in High School, but it's not what's called "conversational French" meaning "the language that average native speaks daily; it's more laughably formal". But, if they don't mind me taking the time for me to mentally translate and recall what I learned some 15 years ago, I can get the gist of what they're saying. I once translated a postcard sent to my mother that was written in French. There was only one word that I didn't know, but based on how it was used in the sentence, I got the gist of what they said.
However, it's probably best that I spare the French/Japanese/German-speakers from my not being fluent in their mother-tongues and not join their parties. Why give them, and myself, the headaches?
