Whatever SE uses to verify/accept credit or debit cards is reason why we were forced to use UGC in first place. I just want to give them my money but they don't make it easy with the constant error codes.

I believe it PlaySpan the system they use which is also the company that controls UGC

I've still no idea why debit cards in the US seem to have so many problems when it comes to SE.

In the UK I've been using them since I started playing FFXI back in 2006...

I'm trying to figure out if any retailers sell SE's game time cards physically. Gamestop does online, but I'm not sure how to use this AE gift card I got online.

I'm another person who uses UGC...I wish SE's payment system wasn't so dang convoluted.

SE has 2 options:
1: Release official crysta/time cards in US/Canada (Does Canada have time cards?)
2: Allow players with the PS version to pay through the PSN wallet, sure, it'd be a pain, but at least PS players and PC people with both versions could still play.

I was actually surprised PS players weren't offered a way to pay through PSN. It'd sure make things a lot easier on our end.

I use a credit card, but i use it on steam, so i don't have that recurring subscription problem.

Playspan's service is great if your CC keeps getting rejected, just email them and they tell you why it's rejected, or outright go "oops" and fix it.

It really shouldn't be this way though. Us Legacy players are going to be paying 50% more than we need to if we use the game time cards and you yourself shouldn't have to overpay when the simple solution is to convert the cards to 30 dollars worth of crysta as it equates to 60 days for a standard sub AND would still be fair to the other sub types.

I too, exclusively use UGC to pay for both my XI/XIV subs. This is very worrisome for me.

I've seen the time cards in southern Alberta, in the local Wal-mart. So they do exist, they just seem to be hard to find here.

Our debit card systems are pretty diffrent (less diffrent now with the uprise in Visa Debit, which is basicly the same as yours, as best as I can tell.), like hell, we just really started using tap where I live! Interac is a thing. It works great -- but only really if you get to physicly use your card, lol

My only option is to go buy $50 worth of UG cards and wait it out after the shutdown.
I don't have a CC as i'm too young lol and even if i did i would never use it for online games.
If there's no other option in the near future then i'll have to get forcefully unsubbed.

I guess there is always the option of getting a prepaid card like a $xx prepaid Mastercard or whatever and still buy Crysta that way, but it isn't gonna be quite as cheap. :/

SE wouldnt be getting any flack if their payment systems worked for everyone like they should. but they don't which is why a lot of us turned to UGC in the first place.
SE has had ample time to make sure their payment systems worked. replacing the ones that don't.
getting rid of click n buy was one smart move they made.
however they still have lots of reports that payments aren't going through and have yet to fix the issues or get new payment systems.

those time cards are a good idea in theory but in practice they don't work because there is more than FFXIV time that some of us need/want
you cant use those time cards to pay for extra retainers or to pay for FFXI and those of us that are legacy get screwed because they only add 60 days.

anyway I didn't put this post up to argue. I put it up to make sure players saw it to give them ample time(if they can find the cards)
and in hopes the community team might have an answer as to whether Ultimate Pay is going to start making SE Crysta cards for them(this I am hoping for lots)

Granted managing an payment system for an international product is NOT easy, but they haven't gotten their game time cards released worldwide and they are GAME TIME not crysta which is a big mistake because it forced them to not allow the game cards for Entry accounts and they cause Legacies to overpay. This is certainly on Ultimatepay because they've had a history of doing crap with very little notice to consumers. Hell SE probably found out about this at the same time we all did and are crapping themselves.

Ultimate Pay did say they plan to use their mechant's currency directly so maybe their plan is SE Crysta cards(if SE wants them that is). but they were very vague

For me, it's two reasons:

1.) SE's CC acceptance system seems very fickle. I don't want to risk multicharges/account suspension/etc.
2.) I prefer time cards/UGC because I don't have a steady income. So, I don't want something coming out of my account monthly because I never know if something will come up. I prefer to buy in bulk and without worrying about it coming out of my bank account. I pay for my sub with cash from the odd side jobs I take.

The biggest problem I have with the current system is that my family is stationed in another country. When we are in the US my credit card works fine and is accepted for use on SE's system. But overseas, my credit card receives errors when attempting to attach it to my account for payments. Therefore since being overseas I had turned to ultimate pay via paypal to pay for the game. If they remove Ultimate Pay I will no longer be able to play once my sub runs out. SE should partner with more widely accepted means of online payments such as paypal and the like.

This is effing awful, UGCs were the only way I've been paying for XIV since December, and it worked for XI as well since it would just use Crysta. CCs are unreliable with what everyone else has told stories about, and way too risky as well. Good thing I'm getting a steady income now, gonna buy like 7 or 8 20$ cards by July so I have something to fall back on for awhile.

Square Enix should just make the FFXIV Game Time cards available everywhere else except Australia and Japan. Don't understand why they haven't.

well guys what would you do if the game time cards in your local retailer stores were sold out due to notice of them cancelling it?

which will still not be a good solution for everyone. people who sub FFXI, Legacy and those that use the retainer service will not be happy with these.

please be SE Crysta cards, I know several people that would be all over these

I just buy crysta, with visa gift cards simple enough, as a legacy player, game time cards over charge. It would be nice if SE made a game time card for legacy status players.

Think it would get affected too, since Ultimate Points which governs the other voucher base payment system, are also closing down soon.

Just recently I tried to add crysta and saw several vendors under Ultimate Pay already gone from the list.

UltimatePay is supposed to remain without Ultimate Points. what you will be able to use to buy crysta with UltimatePay remains to be seen. I'm still hoping for Crysta Cards but since nothing was said about that directly it may not happen at all

Ultimate Points which is main currency of UtimatePay is going away.
UltimatePay is owned by Playspan which is owned by Vista.
pretty sure its not going anywhere since their site says they plan to directly support their merchant's currency.
although with this blow SE may decide to find an alternative to them and drop them since they probably didn't give much warning to any of their merchants.

so long as I can find an alternative that works like UGC I'm good.
I'll probably hunt for a visa or mastercard giftcard that doesn't charge you to buy or use

Me and some friends been using UGC/Crysta since the big CC snafu in XI years ago. Liked how easy it was to deactivate/activate the accounts with it, among other things. With Visa killing the Ultimate Points side, it will require a revamp of the system because of how it taps it. SE really needs to be looking into a remedy for this anyway because of that.

Sure would be nice to hear that they are looking into it, even if they don't have it planned out just yet.
