I don't know if you've seen the news, but apparently Nintendo is releasing an adapter to use Gamecube controllers on the Wii U. IMO the only issue I had with the GC controler was the C stick. Anyway, thought that was interesting news so I'm wondering if we will start to see them sell these again...
Haters gon hate. Gamecube controller was dope. Clearly you didn't play enough super smash bros.
I read this yesterday on Kotaku. Still not enough to get me to go in on a Wii U. If they released a new, nintendo developed metroid, then possibly. New Super Smash Bros. and the ability to use a GC controller is close, but the days of inviting a gang of friends over and having a smash bros tourny are behind me, sadly.
The current gold pay wall for MMO's on Microsoft's platform doesn't make the most sense to me, namely because Playstation doesn't require it.With MS moving Netflix, Hulu, and other apps to not require Live Gold was a good move and I had hoped this would apply to MMOs, but sadly it doesn't appear that it will. While most people (I'd assume) who have an XBOX has live, just knowing that you don't have to pay for both services is comforting. I still plan to keep Live, I enjoy it, but not having to have PSN is a solid argument when looking for an MMO to play on a console. So when it comes to friends who ask, should I play ESO on X1 or PS4, I'd say PS4 since PSN isn't required. That's just my opinion, and I Hope to see Microsoft continue to make changes to their policies.
There is something to be said about getting outsold, and with that we've seen a lot of changes at Microsoft, hopefully we'll see them continue. :)
I'm super excited for DX11, and could support this idea. I think the X1 can do direct X 11, as they are the same company, but I could be wrong there. After which porting it to the X1 might be a good move.
However, I'd support FFXIV being ported to as many systems as possible. Mac, and Wii U come to mind, even though the chances for the Wii U are so crazy low that it wouldn't make any business sense.
Giving players more options is a good thing in my opinion, as long as the business element can be justified. You don't want to spend thousands of hours to port the game to a system and then only sell 20 copies for example.
I wouldn't recommend it, the gamepad is great, and I just played games off the gamepad, but I can't support Wii U right now. I'm hoping that Nintendo gets the message loud and clear that we (fans of Nintendo) want something more then what they are giving us. I've bought a lot of Nintendo products over the years and over the last 10 years been sold off of nostalgia more then what they were doing. They are a great software games company, but haven't impressed me in recent years.
Sony and Microsoft have spoken to me and what I'm looking for in a platform, I really hope Nintendo can get themselves together, but we as consumers vote with our dollars, and so I'd say, until the price drops to a very low level, I'll vote by not sending them any money. (for now)
Just the fact that over the last 3 years Nintendo has lost over 1 billion dollars... I don't care who you are, but that's just mind boggling that their leadership still have jobs after that kind of loss. IMO.
The PS4 controller is so much better then the PS3, I've really enjoyed the changes they have made.
I went and played some Halo 4 last month with my brother after having played with the X1 controller and was surprised by how uncomfortable the 360 controller felt in my hands. But that's just my personal opinion. :)
I personally play on PS4 but for this thread I'm going to go down the PC master race road cause what ever the xbox one can do (play game and skype that whole entertainment system) the PC could do already.
Microsoft released drivers today that will allow XBone controllers to work on PC. Just FYI.
Lol...console gaming is no different than PC gaming. A console now a days is just an un-upgradable pc. That being said I buy most games on the PC, but I have consoles as well. It's about the games for me not the device I play them on. Although I will not buy a XB1 because of the anti-piracy bs. And for those that say, "Oh they turned all that off!" Well, all that can be reactivated with a flip of a switch. That and well the whole cross platform stuff ala the OP petition to get it on the XB. Look at Titan Fall. 3 different platforms, 360, XB1, and PC, but yet no cross play at all. To me there is just no excuse now a days for that. To me MS is blocking the advancement of online gaming with the isolationist ideals. That is just my humble opinion.
A relatively small portion of the FFXIV player base would even be in a position to play this game on the X1, and even the total number of players currently actively playing would be relatively small compared the the number of people using Xbox Live. Microsoft won't take notice of the petition because if they thought FFXIV was going to lose them significant sales, they would already have taken a look at their policies when FFXIV was first announced.
Its simply not going to happen. Argue among yourselves all you want, and perhaps even call me defeatist. Do what you will, but the reality is Microsoft won't do anything more to address this purely on a whim to please FFXIV players.
Microsoft can suck it anyway
There's not point to an MMO if you cannot play with everyone else. If you only have an Xbox1 and you want to play with your friends on PS4 then you're screwed unless Microsoft wises up and lets FFXIV play on SE servers instead of Microsoft servers. I prefer the SE way to the Xbox only club.
Yep! This.
I created another thread for support to bring XIV to X1 without having to have MS only FFXIV servers, thus allowing us to all continue to play together. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-possible.-%29
There is a considerable amount of input lag when doing this.... I dont even know WHY you are doing this if you already have the console to play it on just fine.....
false, new sales dont have an option to not have the Kinect
I can say that this is not true, at least as I have said before, not true for me. I can not tell any input lag, and even if there was a slight about, it doesn't impact game play in the least. This could be based off my setup, but that's why they need to bring the game to the X1 so users who can't do this, could play on the X1 if they wished.
And Microsoft made absolutely no money on it, and that's why they dug their feet in the sand when it came to this game. You know what else? They were mostly right - mostly. At the beginning it would have been a disaster for them since even the playstation version was delayed so many times. Now? It might gain more in popularity but we're still talking about a western console with a still very asian grindy game. It's just not Microsoft's target audience with their console, and what players DO want to use it can easily do so on a Microsoft Windows PC.
So, I don't see this ever happening tbh, not unless Yoshi pulls another miracle out and somehow surpasses WoW subscribers. Then M$ might give it another look.
Ish. They did a study once regarding FPS and the disparity between PC players and console players. The PC players slaughtered the console players every single time, and for good reason. KB+Mouse is superior in every way. There is no argument for that. You can PREFER a controller over a keyboard and mouse and that's your PREFERENCE, but you will still always be stomped in FPS or PvP by someone using a KB+Mouse. This is a fact that their study confirmed.
So this is their reasoning behind that little tidbit, anyway. I'm not saying its particularly relevant to 90% of the content in XIV - but there is still a distinct line between the console crowd and the controller crowd and I can pick out a controller user within a few seconds of watching them move around.
For me, I'd *like* to see it come to xbox, but I'm not going to hold my breath. It's on *a* console and that's probably good enough for the JP playerbase and the percentage of NA playerbase that actually wants to play on a console. The rest can get the same experience from a PC and an xbox 360 controller for Windows. That's what I do when I feel like lying on the couch.
So the options are:
Play the game on PC
Play the game on PS4
Play the game on Xbox One with your PS4 running through it
I don't see the point :/
As much as I'd love for more people to be brought into the game's community, I think it would be best to not support the Xbone. The Xbone really has nothing going for it. I honestly can't see anything good coming from partnering with Microsoft either.
Still would be nice to play across all 3 platforms and have Skype as well on Xbone with DX12 on the way it could interest me to link my account across all 3 just because I can. M$ would have to change a few policies to allow this to happen and lets face it they've already 180 everything else just to keep in the console wars so why not here as well.
Why support a company that was so willing to betray their customers/fans in the first place? I can't wrap my mind around how people are crawling back to Microsoft right after they were so willing to go as far as to spy on you, not to mention taking away your rights to the games and other content that you purchased. Why? Why would you support Microsoft after this? Why would you support the Xbone?
Because, at the end of the day, it does not matter. People will play the consoles they play, and theres nothing you can do about it. I own a PC PS4 and an XBox One, and i have no issues with any of them. They each do things better ine one way or another from the others, and im cool with that. I'm not gonna denounce a product just because of some hiccups, every system has had hiccups and flaws and Shady dealings.
But everyone is spying on you now hell Facebook Google NSA Windows platforms and the list goes on and as for digital rights sadly that is still coming there is no stopping it. It's most unfortunate that M$ jumped the fence too early and now look at the state of gaming. Most people are happy to part with their money to buy digital content. So while PS4 and Xbox sneak Steam like services right under your nose to get you to open your wallet your left wondering who is the good guy. Nobody is the good guy they're just after your money.
The main issue with the X1 was the marketing, they didn't have their message together and show what users would get with their vision. I personally loved the original idea behind the X1, but many others didn't, so Microsoft changed the system approach. While you are entitled to your opinion about how you think they operate, at the end of the day all companies are in business to make money, and that's good thing. That's why they exist in the first place.
I remember people telling me about GPS and cameras in cell phones as it was the end of the world, and that we would get speeding tickets because they could track our speed of the cell phones. As with most people, they don't like change, unless they know there is something great at the end of the road, and that's where Microsoft made their mistake.
The idea of using a pass threw as running on my Xbox. Get your head out of your butt and using another input on your TV. Then it isn't effected at all.
I don't have a current gen Console, but for games out there and up and coming it's a toss up for WiiU and PS4. The only reason I would think about the xone is ... oo wait there isn't paying 499 now 399 for 1 game doesn't cut it.
oo WiiU fun family play with friend at a party games is what I'm looking for here.
PS4, better built system out of the box with games coming out in next few months that I'm looking at getting.
