I'm sorry but this argument is as dumb as the one white mages whined about when Paladin got Raise at Rank 50. It doesn't break the game, it doesn't make the game easier, it doesn't invalidate what a conjurer does in a fight.
So please stop whining.

It's not like clicking return with barely any penalty was 'hard'. I don't see how this is necessarily 'easier'. Come on, let's wait until we see the game adjustments, then start saying what does and does not work. :0
Lol this fucking thread makes no fucking sense Rez is to low omg it should be lvl 25 like FFXI! dont matter if it was 14 or 20 or 30 cause people will get the spell eventually and the first one isn't even that good 5 min cool down and 101 mp.
The fucking Rukkirii is hot thread held more water than this dumb shit lol I swear some people on these forums just get lower and lower everyday.....
nah it doesn't make the game easier. Yea it's a good level for raise. Also I don't see how it will make people care less about K.Oing seeing as how no one cared about dieing since release where we had no real death penalty anyway. :)
I do not know why my character don;t show up. But I rerolled before quiting. I've played the game though. I rereolled most of my time here though trying to find a server I can play on that was friendlt to my brothers laptop AND to find people to talk to. I know a good deal about this game. The fact your basing credit on a silly thing as appearce just proved my poit on how dumb you are acting. Dude you need proffessional help. Seriously. Stop with the macho act its pointless. It doesn't take everyone 1 hr to get 14. People who enjoy other parts may take longer. You obviousely play ffxiv for the WRONG reasons. I suggest you take a break.
Well, I guess since this thread is about five minutes from getting locked, I might as well say good morning to the unfortunate GM who stumbles upon it.
HELLO, SIR OR MADAM! I HOPE YOUR DAY IS GOING WELL!
In before massive edit/locking.
Yeah...
Hey GM!!! Don't let Yoshi P forget about map revisions! O_o
Dear GM's, We need more veldspar ore.
Please consider building a new mining node.
Our base is under attack.
It's pretty damn insulting to go from ffxi, which was epic difficulty and forced you to socialize, to this game, where you don't have to try hard at all. I didn't say I was so "Cool" and all that. You said that. I don't think I'm better than everybody else. I'm pretty average skill and achievement wise, and if you knew me in the game, I'm probably one of the more helpful person you'll know. I just want a challenge dammit. I want that feeling of desperation. A quadriplegic can get rank 14.
What a gnashing of teeth over nothing. Considering at any level you can just return and run back to where you died, with the same exact effects, having someone raise you at 14 doesn't make anything easier. All it does is add convenience of not having to run. That's it.
As an aside, judging people's experience in game, based on the info on the side is a bit of logic fail. Many people have multiple characters; Cairdeas has a character they've been with since the start (Midgarg Zolom IIRC), but has used Cairdeas for posting on the official forums. Hardly a secret.
Time=/=Difficulty. A huge majority of the stuff in FFXI was not Difficult, it was time consuming.
Hell, I soloed Rank 3, 4, and 5 because I could. They were easy. The only difficulty I had with any of them was bumrushing Castle O past a bunch of true-sights to trigger a cutscene. But even that was easy with Whm/Nin, Stone Skin, and Utsusemi.
Events that require more then one person are even easier, the only thing difficult is getting the people together, and when I played XI I was in some of the larger social LS's which made doing so really easy. Hell Sunday nights was Delkafutts night for us, anyone who needed it I'd run them up to the 10th floor to get their key and get their cut scene in the basement.
There is no penalty to death. It shouldn't matter if it's Lv1 or Lv100.
Oh...oh my...I believe I have given myself a concussion from all the facepalming...
Gramma? Is that you? Why are you covered in grape jelly?
I do not like getting my hand held and babied all thru out. I feel that the developers do not think that we are smart enough to handle a tougher game.
How is this hand holding? Why not explain why you feel it is making the game easier than hitting Return? The only benefit to Raise, is not having to run back. Period. That isn't hand holding. So what exactly is it about Raise that you feel is so game breaking.
This really has no impact on difficulty. Difficulty has nothing to do with Dieing.
Difficulty is having a fight where you THINK your going to die, but because your using the right tactics you pull through by the seat of your pants, your adrenaline pumping, and a smile on your face as the loot list populates. Dieing means it was either TOO difficult, or you were an idiot in the first place.
I love love love this post so much. Thank you. Certain FFXI players are just so confused about what makes something difficult. Having to stand around doing nothing for hours waiting for something to pop is not 'difficult', it's just time consuming. Getting raise at 25 instead of 14 is not more 'difficult' it's just unnecessarily stressful. Sure, it might feel more 'rewarding' and more of an 'accomplishment' but that is not difficulty. Strategy, tactics, using your knowledge; now that's what I want to see and that's what I consider difficulty. :D
In ffxi, there was significant exp loss for death penalty, which made taking a raise very ideal and helpful and very much appreciated. In this game, there is no fear of death, there is no punishment. You can be back on your feet attacking the mob asap, no consequences. I highly doubt the dungeons are even that hard that we need raise at 14, not only that, they already stated that we can pick our own difficulty and no level cap, so most can probably steam roll thru it and be done in 3-5 minutes, just like the way we are doing leves now. That is not going to make the game any better.
Bad topic from a bad player, that about sums it up.
None of which has anything to do with Raise at 14 making the game easier, or hand holding, but more to do with the game system.Quote:

For god sakes, throw us into the fire. Make us climb a really high mountain. It is the difficulty and challenge and struggles that forces people to bond. "If I can do it all on my own, I don't really need anybody else." That is the attitude in the game because it's too easy. That is why nobody talks or seek outside help. The developers do not respect us enough thinking we can only do baby steps.
I feel your pain, and I don't. Yes, it kind of stinks if you specifically leveled that high for it, no, I'm not willing to sacrifice convenience just for the sake of effort and ego someone may have already put it. It's the nature of MMOs. You join later, you have it easier. I first played WoW right around Cata, and I got better items than my girlfriend by doing generic quests, who by that point had played for years and put blood, sweat and tears into getting her epics.
Same on Phantasy Star Universe. I started at the beginning, and had to grind my way to the top. A year or so into it, new players were joining during events and flying up the ranks and four times the EXP I had been getting. Similarly, new players to XIV are going to have it easier - whether it's lower Raise spells, Market Ward searchs, better items that are easier to get, or no Fatigue System hindering them. It's just the nature of the beast.
Anyway, I dig the Dragonmaster Dyne thing, though. I play most MMOs as "Dyne" and everyone always asks, "Hey, Dragonmaster Dyne from Lunar, right?!" ...which in my case is inaccurate, I took the name from Dyne in Skies of Arcadia, but still! Either way, gotta rep the old school, and Lunar and Skies both are good stuff!
Nor apparently simple enough that you are capable of putting them into words. Seriously, act like an adult, you'll convince more people than flailing and insulting others because you cannot make an adequate (or any) argument to support your position.
Again, none of this has squat to do with Raise at 14 making the game easier. NONE. It is a complaint, valid or not, about the game's system.Quote:

Like much of everyone else said I don't see it making the game harder or easier. The point is to not die and hold up the team waiting for a rez or returning to aetherite anyways right?
And really how often do you die with a team that knows what they are doing anyways? like never it seems, sure dungeons may change that a bit =D
Really I just don't see this change being worthy flaming each other on the boards for...
If you worried about your hard work put in to get raise well your outa luck, the games basics are being redeveloped and you can roll with the changes or wait til finished product launches again and see if you like it. Not to be cliche' but its not FFXI-2 and it probably will never be.
Raise at 14 is like everyone is wearing a helmet, and very thick padding, riding a bike made out of foam with air bags, in a room that is completely padded all thru out. There is no danger of getting hurt.
Actually no its not.
Its more like riding a bike with no protection and having an accident in front of two different ambulances. Then getting instant assistance in your emergency situation.
You still got hurt, you just had a better time of getting better.
Again nothing to do with difficulty.
There wasn't before this either. You just hit that magic "Return" button. It's the same thing, only you don't have to run from an Aetherite. The thing is, Raise is in itself, not as major a spell as it was in FFXI. You don't lose xp now on death, so there is no bonus to use it other than not wanting to wait for someone to run back to you. Hell, if people are close enough to a gate, they may chose to save the mage mp and just Return because it's cheaper and faster. That is how worthless Raise is. What level you gain Raise, won't change that.
I used to think posts like "people will complain about anything" were hyperbole.
Now i know their not.
Thanks for clearing that up for me OP.
Edit: Post 100 and not one of them useful!
Wow, you guys really argue about anything.
