You do realize that your other two options are hidden behind clearing the 3 extreme primals, one of which Yoshi himself even said a lot of people are still stuck on, and the other is downing turn 7 and getting the unidentified tombstone?

I guess when my atma of the goat took me 3 whole days to get I should have stopped playing and came to the forums to whine about it.
Amazing on how many think this is whining about time spend or getting things easy, shows me those posters have no clue..
That's right it's your own fault as a player for wanting to partake in as much of the new content offered in a patch as you can, or rather in the bundling of old content in a convenient package because the Atma quest doesn't have any new challenges. Lucky me I managed to gain entry just by pressing 1 over and over and moving to blue circles, just look at how shiny my Animus is going to be. Maybe if I keep telling people to ignore the quest I can keep being one of the shiniest, after all if everyone's super no one else would be.
The point is there are plenty of games with RNG. In case this is your first RPG, or MMORPG, there have been and are lots worse things then this. I'm surprised there aren't a million posts of people crying about the drop rate on colored mounts as well. I still havent even seen one, maybe I'll go make a post about that.

I have friends who fully got all 12 of their atma within ~3-4 days. I was stuck in North Shroud for about a week and have been stuck in Southern Thanalan since, only have 6/12 and I've actively done it every day for the majority of the day (until the last few days, getting fed of up with the bs of never seeing it drop).
I've been stuck in this same zone for so long, theres actually no one else doing the fates because everyone else got lucky as crap -.- The only people who are saying that "Everything is fine" or "it's not that bad" are those people who got theirs in under a week
I mean yeah, I'm all for time consuming things in a mmo, but this was just done poorly. No matter how much time you put into it, it doesn't matter since it's completely reliant on RNG, so you could spend 20+ hours farming for 1 atma while another guy gets his off the first fate. It's so bad, that once I actually have all 12, I'll probably sit for another few days deciding which relic to do because I'm not doing this for all 5 of mine
I was hoping for Atma changes as well.... I'm sorry, but I shouldn't get 0-1 Atma a week spamming FATEs. I'd like to do more than just FATEs, but in order to progress I'm stuck doing them over and over with nothing. I may not even make it to the Animus stage by the time they add the next stage in May at this rate. This is ridiculous.
Simple fix. Add a counter. At the 1000th FATE you get one regardless.
You can keep the surprise of getting one "early" while also having a clear goal for the people who want it.
I just don't get how people cannot understand that those who aren't as fortunate, want to partake in events? This is a community game, why on earth would you want to keep everyone gated all because you got your Atma faster? We are working just as hard if not harder to get to the book portion. But there is an artificial gate there barring people from gaining an easily achievable wep. Why is this being argued against?
All the people that say atma system is fine, I'd place a wager they are not one of the people that have done over a thousand FATE and still haven't completed their first set of 12.
You really can't be the authority for the disadvantaged when... You know... You're not disadvantaged.
idc what other games does, just coz this game does something does mean it should be a sheep n follow
the others. also, they did it in a way a lot of ppl dont even like. which is fates. so pressing
1 2 1 2 fr hours on end isnt fun o-o;
its not fair either. some ppl got it in 2-3 days others are still going since the day of the patch.
Atleast let us do it as other jobs, of any level. I could have leveled two-three jobs from 1 to 50 through nothing but fates in the time it took me to get even one Atma... I'm sure i would have enjoyed it tremendously more if i was leveling jobs meanwhile.
Maybe because you don't need to accumulate twelve pieces of crap based on randomization in order to get a colored mount. Let's not forget the fact that during the fights that the mount's drop other valuable pieces of loot drop as well, which are some sort of incentive to farming, as opposed to getting minimal gil, GC Seals, and no experience from fates.
Wow does the QQ over this subject ever end?
The only points I've seen made on this topic that I'm even remotely willing to concede to is concerning the content that atmas are attached to. Given all the incessant whining over this I really hope they give you people exactly what you want, but be careful what you wish for as you just might get it. As far as I'm concerned atma grinding via FATEs is candy land considering some ideas on what they could have done, and I'm going to laugh my ass off if SE does make such a change to the system. I'll be standing by with pop-corn as I watch the flood of rage that sweeps into the forums whining that getting an atma is too difficult and takes even more time. But who am I kidding they won't they'll probably cave to the loud casual whiners.
Time will tell I suppose. Sheeze people.
It's because primals you need to press more than one button. Fates two if you count hitting the level sync.
I've hit the cap for Soldiery every week since they released it and still do not lvl100 gear in every slot for my main, so again, not really relevant. Especially when you consider the fact that not everyone has filled all of their slots with ilvl 90 gear for main or secondary characters.
I'm not even sure what the real debate is at this point, this has gotten way off topic.
Stop staying in the same zone for more then 2-4 hrs. I put in under 15hrs to get all my Atma. I did not sit there everyday and spam fates, I would hit a few on my beastmen daily's and spend a little time farming a zone then i would move on. Most of the time i move i get the next Atma with in a few fates. Farming the 13500 myth is more annoying then the fate farming.
1,000 is a bit ridiculous, but me and my FC members had a discussion about this being a fix as well. If they just kept the RNG the way it was, and put a default counter on each zone (lets say 50, just for the sake of picking a number) then I think a lot of these threads would go away.
You've done 50 Fates in South Thanalan without a drop? Ok, counter has filled up and your 51st Fate would give you an Atma, guaranteed. Using 50 in the examples would guarantee that you had all 12 by the time you did 600 FATEs, maybe sooner if the RNG shined down on your for a zone or two.
Think 600 FATEs is too many? I got my 12 Atma's on the first weekend of 2.2 and I still had to do over 700 of them, so I think it's pretty fair.
But, a simple fix like this would calm a lot of people down, I think.
Unless everyone that said they didn't want it handed to them on a silver platter was just flat out lying. This way you would have something tangible to look at, and not be left wondering forever if you were going to get your drops.

He didn't make any assumption. He just stated that nowhere did they (they being SE) say that the drop rates would be adjusted or changed. Which, as far as I know is true unless they did say so somewhere in a recent statement.
Now if he had worded it as, "They will never adjust drop rates or change the first part completely" then that would equate to being an assumption... GG
Not sure what people were expecting with atma and animus weapons. Yoshida said, before 2.2, that most people will not have an animus weapon before the next stage is released.
Although the atma system is not perfect, you should expect to spend at least two weeks stuck at that point. If you have bad RNG, tough titties. There are people who had turn one on farm since October 2013 and still have not seen monk pants or caster ring. Bad RNG happens in every MMO, get over yourselves. Time investments do not always pay out.
What can help with bad RNG? There are many different weapon alternatives in the game you can acquire while working towards your animus.
Somebody started an atma solution thread in the suggestions section. I for one going to leave feedback in game. 4 weeks and only 1 atma is maddening.
Hi guys, I'd like to add a perspective from someone who has their Atma weapon but isn't an insufferable moron (to the best of her knowledge). This quest is AWFUL.
There are literally no redeeming features of running low level fates endlessly. You get no XP, very little gil and very few seals worth mentioning. Anyone dumb enough to use the comparison to coil runs or avatars has no clue what they're talking about. Guaranteed loot versus no loot and a tiny chance to get your atma is no comparison, it's a broken system and needs to be addressed.
No one would care if we had to do something to EARN atmas. Heck, I prefer the massive myth grind to the atma grind simply because I'm guaranteed to progress rather than being stuck at the same point for days on end. No one has asked for an easy ride, so stop using that as a weak excuse for why the system is fine. People are asking for an end to relentless grinding for no gain, that's all.
Anyone who can't understand that simple concept likely still drools on their keyboards.
Getting the relic itself is a fun quest and getting it to Zenith take patience.
:mad:I HATE PPL THAT HAVE ATMA SAY ITS NOT BROKEN. I FARM 5 HOURS A DAY SINCE THE LAUNCH ONLY TO HAVE 4. HAVE PATIENCE MY BUTT!
JUST GETTING 13,500 MYTH IS GOING TO TAKE TIME BUT THIS ATMA CRAP NEEDS TO BE IMPROVED.
Animus = Patient, Diligent, Player
Atma = AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH WHY DIDN'T 1 DROP WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
I got my Atma weapon quickly and I agree it's an awful, stupid system. It should be linear progression like the rest of the quest afterwards. (1500 Myth per tome and clear goals within the books.)
Too many people didn't like FATE grinding to begin with, and forcing them to do this to get their favorite weapon and then relying on luck for it to drop in any sane amount of time is just silly. It's even more silly to argue that it is supposed to take people a while, because some of us took no time at all to get the 12 Atma crystals in this current system.
tl;dr, it's unfair and needs to be changed.
I like the current state of Atma. I don't have a atma weapon yet. But it gives me something to do vs doing a 10 min quest and whining there is nothing to do.
As for if it's fair.
It's completely fair.
You have X chance of getting it.
Only system I think they should put in place is an Atma exchange. Where if I got 2-3 random atmas I could exchange them for the ones I want.
My wife has 3 atma of the crab from doing fates well doing dailies.
At the very least, it would be nice to be bale to purchase books ahead of atma. At least you could myth farm in between atma grinds. While maxing out Soldiery, one builds up quite a bit of myth.
