They can cut out the animations for PS3 version just like they cut up Giggle physics. So no. If that is the problem it can be fixed.

Buming, because I am not letting this topic die.
I spent a good while trying to find the thread or post I made about this, but apparently that was back in the beta forum and is now gone.
I'm kind of over it now at this point. It does not seem like it will ever change, and I just kinda shrug and accept it. The current LB system works fine, even if it does lack any kind of sense (meaning classes doing abilities they shouldn't be able to do just for the sake of "role fulfillment").
Honestly though, all they have to do is change the animations per class/job. They don't even have to change the end result of the LB (meaning, single target LB for melee dps, AOE LB for ranged caster, Tank defensive LB ((which is hardly ever used)), and Healer LB healing/rez'ing people ((also hardly used)) ). That can all stay the same, but the animations a player does should match their class/job and be related to the class/job preforming the LB.
And while I can somewhat understand that Bard has a healing LB (they are traditionally support class), if Archer were to get a second job that was pure dps focused I would expect a new type of LB for ranged physical dps to be implemented. This would/could also be used for other physical range dps (with the current system) or with additonal styled LBs per job/class it would still work pretty much the same way. In many ways it would be pretty much like the current caster LB, only there shouldn't be any summoning Meteor if you're not even a caster, right? So you get some kind of large single or aoe (doesn't really matter which) physical ranged dmg LB.
I may have accepted the current system, but that doesn't mean I don't want unique per class/job animations. It really shouldn't be that complicated to assign a new animation per class. Devs already know how much time (length of animation) they have to work with if it's going to fit the current system, so why not change/fix this.
This is what should have been in the game from launch. I totally do agree with the OP on that, and have since Beta.
I'm more or less of the mind that they're fine as is, at least as far as animations are concerned. I think the healer LBs need to be tweaked mechanically, as they feel entirely useless 90% of the time, but that's another topic entirely.
I'd rather they devote resources towards making more unique class and job specific abilities than personalizing the LB animations. Also, changing Monk's LB3 would be silly. It's technically already a monk ability.
Which is why it looks silly on Dragoons Endemerrin.
I've gotten over it now, but I completely agree. At the very least give the Jobs specific limit breaks and keep the ones now for the classes. It's gonna even sillier when we get a THF class and he/she whips out an enormous sword to chop stuff up!
Only recommendation I have is that the SMN should actually, oh, I don't know? SUMMON SOMETHING!?
Level 3 LB available
Dragoon:
"I can feel the power surge through me. I can do this. I must!"
"Gae Bolg, my friend, you have stood by me in the hardest of times, and in the good. But screw you for now!" --*throws Gae Bolg to the side*
"I HAVE THE POWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWEER *Casts lvl3 LB*"
Gae Bolg:
:'( *dramatic reach*
FFXI fans are all still pining for skillchains. Limit Break is a very lame replacement for them, and I would love for the system to be expanded...not to 'skillchain' complexity necessarily, but something better than 1-botton 1-skill per class.
Well rumor that each job will get a unique animation for their limit break in a future update sometime by 2.35. So I consider this a win!
Thank you!!!
After the news today that they are actually going to change limit break animations per class/job. I have no more complaints about that. I don't even care when this gets implemented, tbh. Just knowing that it will actually happen is beyond what I expected. All I can say is thank goodness!

Just... all of that. =-)
Personal job limit break.
It wasn't in the PLL or the Battle talk event if I remember correctly.
But someone did ask about personal job limit breaks, and YoshiP told I think it was Takai-san about this and Takai-san was joking around saying "Does that mean I need to come in to work on Monday?" They may be actually working on this one.
Edit: Nvm, found it on another thread.
Hello, everyone!
During the NicoNico Chokaigi 3 event that took place this past weekend, Yoshi-P mentioned that the team would be looking into giving each class their own unique limit break animation. :)
I still wish they'd add a second Limit Break option... And really, a ranged Limit Break isn't even that hard to implement. Just make it a carbon copy of the current DPS Limit Break with an added repel effect (basically just a bigger Repelling Shot, or even just Apex Arrow from XI (Repelling Shot followed by jumping back forward)). None of the balance issues of a ranged Limit Break with all the satisfaction, you're welcome Yoshida.
Ideally though, every Job having two Limit Breaks would just make things more interesting. Slap Paladin with a Healer Limit Break as well, while Warrior gets the DPS Limit Break. Bard gets Healer and "Ranged" Limit Break. Scholar gets Healer and Tank Limit Break (since damage mitigation is their thing). White Mage gets Healer and Mage Limit Break (LB3 would look something like Alexanders attack in IX). Things become a bit more hazy with DPS, but to me that's just reason for the developers to develop more types of Limit Breaks. Crowd Control ones, Enfeebling ones, Damage boost ones... All would be great. No mage for Ifrit? No problem, Dragoon pops their second Limit Break giving everyone increased damage to take the fetters down faster (or Limit Break one as currently done). Adds so much more depth to the game...
Limit Breaks were definitely one of the more disappointed aspects of ARR for me, variety in their animation is the minimum I asked for (or demanded) so this is great news though, I just hope they continue to look into expanding the system, because it's currently wasted potential.
Seems like nothing more than a maybe, not something done in a weekend, what was it one person wanted? One for each class, job and LB tier? That's what 17x3x10?
17 separate animations, tweaked for 3 levels then adjusted to 10 different bone sets is a pain in the ass amount of effort for no more than a visual effect.. Not that I wouldn't want it done but I would hate to be the one assigned to that job.
While I agree that every JOB should have its own limit break, I think that giving an individual limit break to each class is a HUGE waste of resources! No one ever plays classes at lvl 50 and especially not in raids or trials where it would be the only place you can actually use it. So all the time and money spent developing the animations for the classes would just be wasted and should rather be spent on something else.
Also, IMHO, Final Heaven is the perfect monk limit break ;-)
TL;DR
separate animations for each job - hell yes!
separate animations for the classes as well - hell no!
WYRMKILLERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I want my Final Heaven animation so when I pushed the LB button I can get up and grab a drink
I think jobs should get a second limit break ability(either at 30 when they get the job or at 50 as a here's a super special skill for you). So they have the class one(which remains what it is now) and then a job one as well. And I agree with what someone else posted... secondary limit break should make sense for the class/job. I.e. bard gets a ranged attack while archer has healing. Warrior gets dps palading healing and so on. This would make it more fun in general. But I'd like it see more buff LBs as well.
I think what they mean is that the "classes" are getting the unique animations, as in pld would use gld animation war use mrd etc. Also as much as I would enjoy seeing multiple kinds of LB per class/job it would result in class/job stacking. Like the idea someone had about letting war have a melee dps limit break, it that was the case there would be no reason to not just stack ranged dps for most situations. Or if pld go access to healer lb then they could just cd burn and raise an entire dead party at their leisure.
Think that to date the biggest flaw with the limit break system has been its name lol. If they had used any other way to call it people wouldn't have such a hard time with its current design.
This is my first MMO. What is a limit break?
Not only that, but also individual limit breaks need to be added. Its pretty stupid that there's one limit break bar that's shared. Each player should have his or her own limit break that can be used whenever they want, not just in a party.
