There are dragons in Final Fantasy XIV. And dragons can fly.

But Ishgard is at war with them, and so is the Garlean Empire apparently, so I don't see much hope for us being able to ride them.

Reliable mounts, they were even used close to modern times, outperforming the horse in various environments. Alexander's army wanted to go home partly because of rumors of the number of elephant troops in India! Hell, even modern military cavalry doesn't mainly use the horse!

You want fantasy? Try Warg riders, Dragon fleets, Turtle rafts, and Polar Bear mounts!

Add things to the game that should have been there day one... fanbase rejoices...

LEt's not msinterpret what a mount is. In the FF world a mount is something you used to flock around the world map quicker, which was always chocobos, not magitek armor, not a motorbike, but a chocobo. You definitely couldn't ride shiva's bike or odin's horse.

And even if a few of them had a sky dragon or whatever, they still had chocobos, and MOST had chocobos. There is nothing wrong with a variety of colored chocobo's and even variously armored/decorated chocobos for everyone to pick from.

Let us all stop being silly WoW fans. FF mounts = Chocobo

Other Mounts will only be "Job Specific" In which only the Job your on "Can Ride"

-Dragon Knight~ Dragon/Wyvern
-Monk-What would a Monk ride a camel? lmao
-Bard~ Magical Carpet?
-Paladin~ White Horse
- White Mage~ ?
- Black Mage~ ?

Then there's:

Rentable Chocobo's In which EVERYONE can ride (at a rental cost)

I wouldn't mind at all riding a Wyvern/Dragon or a White Horse =)

But either way Chocobo's are for everyone Don't be so bummed out because they are planning to add (JSM) Job Specific Mounts. It will give people a reason to level up other jobs so that they can ride those other mounts ( give the game more reason to play) I like the idea

Anyone else would be upset if Chocobos work with a rental system like it did in FFXI when it first started? I want real mounts that i pay for once and then i can summon whenever and wherever i want. I don't want no 30min for X amount of gil type of mounts.

And I honestly couldn't care if Chocobos exist in-game, or not, so I fail to see how I'm taking any of SE's butt-ramming. Calling us WoW fans is really starting to get tired. I haven't touched any mounts for the demo that I played of it, and if variety itself is the feature of WoW, this game will never succeed the way you want it to. In fact, thank the Twelve you aren't on the dev team! If the Story depicts people using other animals and vehicles to get around, then there's no reason to limit the game world as such.

Was that car in gold saucer a metal horsebird? Or the train in 8? How about the shoopuf?

I read in a recent Russian interview that the other mounts will be upgradable Magitek Armors.

Here's a little help, peruse through the game's history since beta and look at all the key points. IF you have no analytical skill then sorry but you will never get it. We know this game is far behind, some of us actually have the brain cells to understand why, whether we agree with that or not is debatable, which we partake in often have you never noticed?

Now that we are are finally getting somewhere at all is a very good sign that the ball is ready to get rolling and we are almost done with the game's base designs getting restructured getting in the way of having our basic and fun features added in.

If you can't get this around your head and why in the name we'd get excited for something as simple as chocobos, then really there's nothing more to waste on you and you can get back under your sad little bridge.
