Ul'dah 1.0 story takes place in the Echo itself. The Warrior of Light has been completely unaware that all the events in Ul'dah 1.0 story is simply the echo reflecting past events in Ul'dah set before the Primals were released from their seal in Silvertear lake 10 years before the 1.0 storyline. You meet Minfillia in Ul'dah grown up because during that time the Echo was not sending you a vision of a past event.

1.0 gridania story covers how Gridania began to open their gates to outsiders 10 years before 1.0 story.

1.0 Limsa Lominsa story covers how Limsa Lominsa became involved discovering the secret treasure of the Sea Serpent 10 years before 1.0 timeframe which is believed to contain something important to fight against the primals and what happened to the Key that will allow people to find that treasure.

All three stories ends with the sky covered in flames and the primals being released into Eorzea from Silvertear Lake 10 years before 1.0 timeframe.

However, so far they only concluded 1.0 Ul'dah story with 2.1 storyline. SE has yet to conclude the 1.0 Gridania and 1.0 Limsa Lominsa storyline since the question remains about what happened to the kids in 1.0 Gridania's story who served as major characters and what happened to the Key and what is the legendary treausre in 1.0 Limsa story.

That doesn't even make sense because in 1.0 if you visited the docks in Limsa you could meet the flower girl you saved with her father who miraculously didn't die while diving in front of a thrashing Goobbue. ( don't know why she was in Limsa, but I recognized her when I was trying to fish.) That and Thancred didn't age at all in those 10 years but Minfila's "miquote" mom is now being depicted as some sort of elderly spinster in the rising stones. In any case I'd be interested in reading where they said this.

It sounds more like Square is trying to cover their story plot holes, and they would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for us meddling kids.

The Scions also have the Echo which is why they are also with the player during those events being they are seeing the events as well through the Echo with the Player.

The only ones in possession of the echo in the Scions are Minfila and you as the player, Thancred, Y'shtola, Yda, etc do not posses it. Hence why you are washed from their minds when 2.0 comes, and why Minfila is the only one who remembers you. IF we were in an echo for the events of 1.0 it would have only happened during the first introductory lock when were are forced to follow the events as the game teaches us the mechanics and controls of the game. After that we are released and time would be returned to normal. This is what Square is suggesting, but it would not hold up, because once you leave that first Echo, you should never be able to see Minfila has a little girl again because you are no longer trapped within an echo.


I can see what you're trying to suggest, but that theory just wouldn't hold up, there are too manly blaring inconsistencies and contradictions. Again it sounds like when Yoshi wanted to renovate the story of the game and rehaul everything he tweaked some things and had to turn around and cover his tracks. Which is almost impossible because like a lie, you have to keep making things up to cover up your previous lie. It was a tawdry plot device to make the story of 2.0 make sense, which is why they never really explain anything in detail because.. well it wouldn't add up. Better to leave it a mystery than to ruin story immersion by shamelessly admitting to have changed to story so abruptly.

All joking aside, I bet the lore team really does wish occasionally that we'd stop reading the story, or spending so much time at our, "Never-Ending Journey".
