Look, SE, you have done this on a number of occasions now. Do you really want us to stand in the same spot for hours? I'll go back when you fix it and not before. Three hours standing there.... I mean I'll do grinding if that's what you want me to do... I'd rather do 50 different FATE's then stand in one place for three hours and no pop. Please stop doing the waiting for one single Fate pop for hours and hours, it's kinda old now.
I just had this happen to me with Enmity of the Enemy. I came in though at around 20% of the mob, I didn't get gold, only silver, not dead got seals and gil.
Happened to me with "Heroes of the 2nd". I spawned in the middle of it after completing a dungeon, time elapsed was about a minute, progress bar was about 90% and I could only get bronze, which didn't give me credit for my book.
So I waited for something like another 3 hours >.<
There seems to be one FATE that has a timer.. .so at least and hour and half, dependent on area fates....SEP at 50 you will need to level sync.. I am having trouble with Everything's Better..it doesn't appear to have level syn.. I participated but didn't get book update....and now will likely have to wait at least an hour and half.. I am sure SE has set at least one of the book FATE requirements on a long timer....and if you aren't in a group.. for some reason and there are a few people... you must get gold I think....

3 Level syc if necessary
4. of course have your weapon equipped...

this is unbelievable....... i couldnt finish my enemy section cause zanark pugilist is bugged (doesnt have the mark on his head nor does it count if u kill him....) so i decided to go do the fates..... -__-
SE please change this fate's respawn or change the fate that is used for this book.
I have been there 3 hrs 40 minutes and no spawn.
I will not accept this system as being legitimate, you must modify it so that it can be completed within 30 minutes without fail maximum.
This does not challenge a player. It challenges a player's patience and stupidity (i.e if you're stupid enough to actually do it).

on topic all books have those ridiculous fates that take forever to spawn and if you miss it for whatever reason, well congrats on your wasted time. as if grinding those myth isn't enough time sink, never go without rng even though it's fates spawning...

I saw another FATE like this one and 'everything's better' in Southern Thanalan. The 'Taken' FATE takes way too long to spawn, as I've been here almost 6 hours and nothing. I've seen at least 30-40 of the other FATEs spawn over and over, yet this one fails to spawn. Why is it that you HAD to pick the most obscure FATEs in the game that have horrible spawn rates?

It's not just specific players, this is a blatant waste of anyone's time should they attempt this. Some of these FATEs are just off the wall random and never spawn. Like the 'Taken' one I've mentioned, one of the people in my LS said he camped that one FATE for 25 hours. 25 freaking hours?! I speed ran every brayflox and completed all of the books up this last one in that time. Why couldn't they just make it so I needed to clear say...'Larger than Life' or some other high level boss FATE that has a decent spawn time?
K, so the FATE 'Taken' just spawned, and from several people in an LS and myself that have been camping it, the spawn timer from the one we just cleared to the previous one was 18 hours.
SE, I get you want slow the progress of people getting Animus weapons, but give me a break...this is just super tacky.
I wouldn't care too much if there was a better way of keeping track of the fates in a given area. For example the Trial books have the ability to select the fates. I don't understand why that is, but if it put up some kind of timer and location marker so you could know when and where it's coming it would be....better. Having a bunch of players sat in one place waiting for a fate and too terrified to go elsewhere in case it spawns and the people who didn't leave churn through it before they can return can't be a good way of doing anything.
Another option, replace the use of obscure fates with some instanced boss fights or something akin to the class/job/story quests. The Atma weapons are supposed to be about absorbing the souls of strong creatures, why not put a bit more drama into it or use it an excuse to explain more about the world?
4 hours here in Midgardsormr, even ran around trying to do other FATEs. lol.
This is absurdly stupid. I can live with the Atma grind cause at least there was a flicker of chance at progressing but this is just ridiculously retarded.

That's no good solution and more a sub par workaround. I was yesterday waiting for a FATE, decided to clear the FATES around. Although I had the map open all the time and instantly left the FATE seeing the one I need has popped up, I did not make it back in time. Level 40 FATES and 30-50 players with Relict weapons = FATE over in 30 seconds.
You guys continue to follow a road that a good portion of your player base doesn't like. You introduced beast tribes and people complained about the FATE rotation. So you raised it and now they are more easily doable. You had quests where FATES were involved and people complained and you made adjustments.
Is it possible to see this as a general hint from the player base so we do not have to complain each time new elements are introduced? I do not like FATES at all but if you have to have them because it makes development easy and cost saving, make them at least so that as soon as they are needed for a quest, they pop up more often than normal FATES.
Waiting for FATES should only be needed if you choose to level with them. Regarding quests, this is neither a time sink nor a long term goal but annoying for players. Under the week, I have 2-3 hours to play per evening. I do not want to waste that time waiting in the Nowhere for a 30 second FATE to pop up. Is this so hard to understand? I thought you got enough FATE related complaints to stop or at least reduce quest design around them. But obviously not. So please look forward to more complaints. And zoom your camera out to the max!
I think the community has already established that the limit to the number of fates is NOT impeding these fates from spawning as the others are regularly cleared or time out. The issue is with the spawn interval of the particular Fates that are necessary for the completion of tasks in the Atma books. The special condition is apparently one that's been programmed into the game to limit the spawns to 4 hour intervals, which is a complete disservice to the gamers.
I've seen a trend that FATEs that normally don't get completed take longer time to spawn than those that are completed on a regular basis.
As an example, the FATE Taken in Southern Thanalan... I arrived in zone and /sh for last time it was up and it was up 30 minutes before I arrived...
Hearing others having to wait many hours for it to pop, I thought I was in for a long wait, but it was up again 30 minutes later.
The more people that completes the FATEs needed for the books, the better it is for people that haven't done them yet.
With the FATE spawns, at least you have a almost 100% chance of progressing if you happen to be there when the FATE spawns. Yeah, you might have to wait, but at least you're guaranteed progress. I'll take camping stuff over the 1% chance of getting an Atma drop any day.

Actually after leveling 7 jobs to 50 with lots of FATE grind in Coerthas, I have to say that FATE spawn rates aren't equal.
For one the FATE "The Storm Caller" is 99% there despite being 99% ignored. Inspector Hatchet, another FATE near The Storm Caller in Natalan, also have poor participation rate and almost ended a failure due to timer ran out. However, I always see both of them up over 90% of the time.

I had to wait around 6 hours for Giant Seps, so I understand the frustration.

The wait time on this particular is appalling. 6 hours! Fortunately, I had much better luck with the other two fates, although I still waited close to 2 hours for The Enmity of My Enemy. I think a vita would be very useful for silly things such as waiting for rare fates to spawn.
Edit: One small consolation was Behemoth spawning while waiting for this fate and getting gold lol ><b
This is the best thing. They say kill other FATE to "free up room" to make this one pop. But it is at the ass end of the map meaning there is a high chance the FATE will be over before you can get to it.
I just started my first book and this is what most people tell me. Find out where the FATE is and sit there. To risky to run off and do other fates to "free up room". This one is really bad because no atma drop in this zone and doing FATE to EXP is all but dead. So there are not many clearing room for the pop.
