I know, I've meld a lot of stuff mostly perception +5 and that's the result.

Not meldable, but has slightly better stats (3 GP, 82 Perc, 4 Gath) than a fully melded HQ Hamlet Puller's Hat (4 GP, 75 Perc, 4 Gath).

Plus, it can be used on Miner and Botanist, as well, if you have those leveled.

I didnt have the iLVL 70 stuff in my accessory slots like Zeus has, only the lvl 50 accessories and I was able to meld +3 perception and gathering into each item.

I'd really like to know why RNG hates me so much. I've been fishing now for 6 hours, got another 7 HQs. Friend of mine shows up, fishes for a little under 40 minutes, gets 3 HQ sovereigns.

I'm really starting to wonder if the amount of fish I've caught puts some hidden flag on me or something -_-.

I'm at 10 hours now and just caught my 9th HQ. I'm really regretting having bought the hat now, I'm not sure it's helping at all. I'd have my rod now if it weren't for it.

Sigh... Yoshi, seriously. Just because I've caught over 34k fish doesn't mean I should be penalized like this.

EDIT: For the record, I went about two hours without catching a single sovereign, HQ or otherwise. I finally snapped, cursing the gods in LS chat (to shocked silence) and promptly caught 5 sovereigns in a row, one of which was HQ. I think maybe the gods feed on our rage. That or Llymlaen likes to see me suffer.

I would just like to toss this out there. I was out there fishing for about 5 hours today. During that time I ate some food at some points and not at others. I was at 333 gathering and 266 perception for part of the time. Even with that much gathering I was STILL getting the 'fish gets away' message. Not to mention a friend of mine was out there fishing and he caught an HQ with 293 gathering. Really, that's a difference of 40 points! His gathering was 12% less than mine, and I really didn't notice any difference between us. Also, during my ~5 hours of fishing I got 28 NQ and 3 HQ.

I'm really not pleased that this fishing pole is better than the achievement fishing pole, even though it looks like we'll have to put in an equal amount of time to get them! /endsarcasm.

I was wondering about that actually, whether the "the fish gets away" message is tied to gathering or not. I guess it isn't, or we need a whole heck of a lot to guarantee landing the fish every time.

As for the time put in, this is nowhere close 1.xx's luminary rod. This morning is the start of my third day and I'm only missing 6 more fish. It took me 6 weeks of fishing almost every day to get the luminary back then. 21,960 fish later... The difference is that was just patience, since any fish counted. This is pure RNG and getting luck.

EDIT: Got to 19/20 and have to go to work. This is going to be a long eight hours...

Earlier in the thread someone mentions using i70 jewelry pieces, melded for gathering. Is there a specific reason to do that? Do those pieces have higher Gathering and Perception caps than the Raptorskin Ring, Militia Bracelets, Electrum Earrings, and Raptorskin Choker?

One away myself and I had to go to work. Long shift indeed. Had two get away at the end too. The more gathering you have the bigger the fish you actually catch. Just from what I've gathered anyways.

Yup. Caught mine at noon Eorza time in sunny weather.

Yep, right at the end I actually caught three HQ sovereigns in a row. Lost each of them, with the last one taking my yumizuno. Major pain in the ass.

I had entertained being server first with the rod, but whatever now I guess. Damned work. I should have called in sick xD.

Well, got my last HQ sovereign within 5 minutes of casting after work. I guess I'll have to make do with "server almost-first."

It's a standard horn rod, but pretty. I'm seriously torn over whether I should glamour my luminary onto it. On one hand, it is pretty. On the other, I've grown attached to my luminary these last two years. I don't want to let go.

Well I just got off work. I haven't got the hat though but I just might be server first with the rod if I can catch it fast enough.

Thanks Llen and Zeus for the updated info and everyone else. My initial moodiness has calmed down considerably.. about my luminary I just recently obtained being trumped by the forager. I'll just glamour it lol. Really enjoying the new content and at least not everything is taking 5 mins to complete. Makes it feel all more worth it when you are done.

Well I've been trying for many hours on fishing holes that hav no moochable fish so I can see if I can straight catch some two-stars in their respective city states... and have nothing to show for it. Talk about a challenge. I wonder how specific the bait, time of day, and weather is going to be for these.
