Then why are you here? The majority don't agree with you so go play FFXI if you want that sort of thing. Nobody is forcing you to stay here.

Yes. I've always said: don't do what you like - like what you do. Therefore, I firmly believe not to be playing an MMO, but a FF game alongside many other people that have somehow appeared within my world. They've done an excellent job and for being as instanced, to me, it removes no joy, whatsoever.
@ jrollins I got 5 days left then I wont be. I will probably go back to playing RPGs on console,More difficult and challenging with no downtime but please enjoy your empty white knighthood kingdom lol.
Why are people acting like claim bots had guaranteed claim? Have none of you ever out-claimed a bot?
Wrong forum sowwy :p ignore me!
Heres the deal I have been here since 2010 mainly because I like the franchise. DoH was fun, DoL was fun, Story is great. Dungeon stuff was/is not fun plain and simple. I maxed out all my DoL and DoH. I have all my DoM capped so all I have left is sitting in que or dailies. I have done all I considered fun in this game.
Party find is a joke because you can't get a grp if you are new to the fight, and I have been dropped a few times in regular duty finder just because of being new to a fight. That IS NOT fun for anyone unless you are mental.
I very rarely spend any time here on the forums as you can see by my post count. I am not here to defame the game just expressing my concerns before I hit the door. To paint me as some sort of uninformed jerk speaks more of some of you then it does me.I speak from years of personal MMO experience and can certainly see the ways MMOs have changed. Maybe its just time to get a new hobby. Theres always free GW2 if I get an MMO itch
@jrollins not mad bro, are you?
DoL, DoM, DoH all maxed? Maybe it's time to try a new game called "go outside the basement" instead of "I have nothing left to do in a game that I dropped hundreds/thousands of hours in over the past 4 years so I'll just go whine about that even though the game is adding new content every 3 months"?
The mechanics promote player behavior. In a persistent world the community can punish folks for their douchery. In an instance you can be as douchey as you wanna be because there are no repercussions.
@jrrollins I have fed you enough today me thinks. Find another bridge thx lol.
but there is repercussions it just comes down to the player. get kicked for being new to a dungeon? report them they WILL be banned be it 1 day or 3 or a week. there is repercussions to doing things that are abusive to systems.
now when it comes to unstanced content they can be much harsher to players then instanced content and the df. why? because if you play bad once it goes around and players will know not to play with you and you won't be able to do content because you have a bad rep.
see what i did? it all comes down to the players not the systems, if you run into some that won't play with someone who is new you will have a bad time.
@Musashidon
It doesn't matter if you report them or not your night is ruined ether way.
No believe me I have played in non instanced worlds you gotta play crappier than just 1 time to be ostracized. I was a pretty bad tank at one time long ago but I learned eventually and the community can be pretty helpful.
You may be right maybe the majority of players have just become jerks and its not the mechanics at all. Thanks for the logical and civil debate you prove there are still civil folks out their that actually posses intellect and calm debating demeanor. Ty sir/maam
Imo, too much emphasis is being placed on instance content; but personally, I believe that a lack of variety and creativity is hurting XIV. The game itself feels Limited/restricted to me (Not sure if it is rmt or "balance" related).
I do agree with the OP though.
Funnily enough, I actually have a quote for that in a post I made a few days ago:
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...61#post1937861Quote:
I think the issue is that there's variety. Back in, say, 2005, there were a lot less options for popular MMOs than there are today. I mean, a couple that I could name from back then are FFXI, RuneScape, Guild Wars (just released in 2005), and WoW. Ask me to list MMOs from 2013, and I can say RIFT, WoW, FFXIV: ARR, Guild Wars 2, Neverwinter, Vindictus, The Secret World, SW:tOR, EVE Online, Tera, RuneScape, and a ton more... Point is, the MMO community isn't just condensed to a few options; there's a bunch of games for us to choose from and enjoy. This should be celebrated! But instead all I happen to see on all the forums for these games is "this game is dead", "this design will never work", "everyone's dumb but me", and so on.
