Hmm.. let's see it's raining and the clouds are blocking the sun?

btw your char is gorgeous. What facial feature settings did you use for it all?
Superior OpenGL client when?
It hasn't really detracted from my enjoyment of the game (yet), but overall the graphics are fairly dated - not just the rain.
Depends on the material of the gear & wet effect is calculated by which part gets wet, so like in rain it will get wait from top, shoulder section and gradually get wet. If you run through water will get wet from bottom up. At least that's how it sounds like how it was supposed to be on the JP interview I read last night.
It's raining in both pictures...you're going to be wet in the rain... :p
And that's exactly what a bikini in that material would look like. It doesn't fully appear wet but it's probably damp and not comfortable.
Also. That video.....yes.
I always did this XD But I don't think I realized they dripped in the rain. Wowzers.
I guess the OP is just annoyed that he can't see a bra-strap through someones soaked tunic. I'm not entirely sure what expectations were, but I rather like the subtle change. It's inoffensive and a nice environmental change. Use it, or don't use it. It's your choice.
boobs are bigger when dry?
*caution may shrink when wet*
Its working perfectly for me.
This is a substantial difference.

Hmm ... hardly a difference when its mostly skin. Wearing actual armor looks a lot better but still 'meh' IMO.
On a brighter note, I now have a reason to play through FFXIII-2! ;)
http://i.imgur.com/vYmcYVv.jpg looks best with lightning hair.
I just wanted visable water droplets running down the body... as shown in the video.
this will happen if the steambox gets the momentum it needs, then its only a matter of time before most gome devs start supporting it
till then we are stuck with directx builds, unless ofcourse you can convince them a good reason to support it. goodluck with that
I tried to see a difference with the healer DL robes, I couldn't even tell they were wet.
However with Smn Myth robes I could tell when parts of the lower robe were wet after running through parts of a lake or river/stream.
I don't know if it is working properly or not to be honest.
I was a little disappointed to see that clothing didn't drip water.
I got excited when I saw this having just finished Tomb Raider on PS4. I'm... not so much anymore :(
It's not a negative or anything, it's neat. It's FAR from next gen though. (My PC runs the game at max too)
I was expecting some water dripping off my clothes, at least a few drops, I put on my Myth gear and I saw no difference at all. I would think that plate armor would have those effects more noticeable.
The effects on low tier gear are great though, at least for DX9, can't wait when they implement dx11
I was pointing more to the features made available.
The performance difference would make it worth enough to jump ship, but good luck convincing Square Enix to do that.
Could do that quite easily with DX9, wouldn't be a problem. Implementing the particle effects and the procedural textures might be a little fiddly especially with the variety of armour shapes, sizes, lengths and types, where-as the 'wet' look shader they're currently using it quite easy to slap onto everything without it causing too much damage.
A specular/shiny shader isn't really next-gen I don't think that was the aim, just something simple and easy to implement as an additional detail to the game.
Tiny details are nice, even if they're not ground-breaking.
Hello all,
We spoke with the graphics team about some of the ideas you brought up.
While a dripping water type effect sounds cool, its pretty difficult to implement currently. The team is however planning future content such as water that pools up into puddles as well as foot prints that show up specifically when you get your feet wet.
Soon you can play even more in the rain!
it's the effort that counts, lol. These goons just need better cards :>
Prolly already been mentioned, but try a difference for rain with the DL cowl of casting on. goes from a dull black to prettymuch latex.
Yay, I can't wait for water puddles instead of actual meaningful content, or stuff that was supposed to be at or near release (personal housing, frontlines pvp, vanity system) or finishing content that was put out half finished/broken (chocobo companions, free company recruitment).
one man trash is another man treasure
(why do you think a lot of people like FFXIII weapon even though they are useless? because of the look)
The puddles and footprints will be a good addition and really help give a sense of "presence" to your character and the environment. :)
This is amazing and I look forward to this! I love love love the details! :D

The hair looks wet on the wet picture
It could be constraints within the game engine, or constraints with how the scripting would work, a particle effect is just that, but you have to have it scripted, and that could cause issues with the way they have things coded. There's more to it than just BOOM added particle effects....
