I think a one time reset option should be made available, as it was not well explained that you could only choose one tree. In fact, it was encouraged in all the official hype prior to release to pick and choose abilities from all three trees. I think a lot of people felt that mixing abilities was the right thing to do. I know I got stuck with a melee chocobo I didn't really want, because by the time this information was made public it was too late to change my mind. Since I already spent my first point on a melee ability, I was locked into a melee chocobo or give up the barding reward. Most of my friends weren't so lucky though and now are barred from their reward.
I'm not sure that allowing you to start over with a brand new chocobo at rank 1 via husbandry is the right solution. Most the people whom made the mistake of making a combination chocobo are already frustrated with gaining experience points for it. I think telling that crowd you must start over from scratch will just further anger and upset many and drive them away from this content forever.
Should implement it to where the more u need re-spec'ed the cost goes up exponentially. Would allow people that made the mistake of activating multiple trees not knowing the lmitations to repair their trees fairly painlessly, but if someone wanted to respec a full tree to another full tree would be painful. Pretty much solves the problem right there. Big problem was the beta companion where u had everything and the live letter where by using dev tools could swap around at-will; then not putting the information out on the actual limitations once the client went live.
Its not actually that simple, nothing is that simple on a MMO, a single code can screw up everything....
However the problem here is actually is the word priority
Just check what we got on 2.16 and will get on 2.2
More late game stuff...PS4 and Steam releases....Improve on Craft, Gathering and Market...Vanity Slots and Haircuts...Gear dying preview...new rewards (incluing one for rank 10 Chocobo)...etc etc
And now thinks about things confirmed for 2.3-on
Player's Housing...Gold Saucer...more Fantasia Potions....bring back some 1.0 items (like Chocobo Mask)....Bard rebalance...Chocobo Farm...new classes/jobs and new cap...
I dun think Chocobo's reset is a priority
Would like 1, but right now eh not such a big deal, what I would like is an easier way to level a chocobo, since being legacy and had everything 50 except arc and it was not explained that chocobos level faster/scale with your level so it is easier to level a chocobo with a class you are getting up to 50. Not a big deal, same with fantasia, it will happen but just is not a priority.
Well if not a spec reset, at least make the Job Barding available for purchase. Be it gil, or Tomes, now that my Chocobo is Rank 10 I mainly want the JOB Bardings.
Why we don't have spec reset:
All people WILL reset until get all bardings them reset again to a more useful stat than only one tree.
Solution 1: Lose barding at any reset (hard way)
Solution 2: Make a way to dismiss a chocobo to get another one to get a hard leveling way again ( better than to create another char )
Solution 3 and most easy way: give the barding according to the highest tree( like posted early by ChaozK,
Bardindg is a reward for your effort not a right.
If I missing something then enlighten me please.
PS: Sorry about my English, I do not mean to be rude
PS2: I want to reset too.
I'm for the solution 2, if you want all barding AND mixed spec on your Chocobo, you have to do it the hard way :
- spec class 1 (melee), get barding,
- reset to lvl 0 (keep melee barding)
- level up again to 10 and get bard tank (for exemple),
- reset again to get heal,
- reset again to have "mixed optimal spec"...
Realy long and grind-intensive, but "doable".
I really don't think it would be THAT hard nor time consumming to implement in the current state of the game. Make the "reset" potion available for 10k-50k GC seals.
What we want is a way to AT LEAST respec a fail choice on chocobo, not "easy way to have all bard" (everything is already kind of easy to have, I don't even see why it couldn't be easy though ^^)
PS : My Chocobo is a lvl 4 (nearly 5) full tank spec, and right now I will keep tank to have the barde.
But really, the tank Chocobo is useless, even in "defend" mode, he won't use enough "inimity" attack.... With my ERU i can get Aggro easily and when i'm in black mage it's like having him on melee, I tank and heal, he do the dammage (kind of stupid IMO)
Coming as a housing feature later
Can be possible. Like with the GC bardings, you would need a role at level 10 to use the barding, even if you already earned it (it would be greyed out if the specific role is not level 10)
already confirmed in an interview that we can also train our self-raised Chocobos coming with the Chocobo raising feature (need a house with a garden for it)Quote:

It's like talking to a wall in this thread.Quote:

Sorry but this needs to happen. And yes, it is in fact a simple fix.
JUST ADD IN THE ABILITY TO RESET OUR CHOCOBOS ITS ONLY LIKE 2 LINES OF CODE I COULD FIND IT AND DO IT MYSELF
Ctrl-F >> "Reset Chocobo Skills" = 1
SEE SQUARE GAWD that was such a SIMPLE FIX
Personally, i kinda like the idea of real money. Makes it so people wont spam it for every single quest, but also makes it attainable when they choose to level a new class that requires a different class of pet. Say, a healer instead of a DPS, when going from CNJ to GLD. But since it costs real money, people would put real thought into their points as well as the spending of money to reset a mistake.
Considering there is a lot of chocobo content planned in the near future, which we have gotten little details on. Raising, Racing, tied into housing with the mention of stabling. Sure sounds like there is more involved with the system.
The FC exploit issue with Promoting permissions sounds like a simple fix also, until we got a response like this from Bayohne...
The choco needs 5 more levels not a reset. Seriously, I have no need to put all my stuff into one basket. The way they have it setup is terrible atm. And the attacker gear is lame.
This is not a big deal. This is coming from someone with rank 9 chocobo.
It is a problem as it is a feature that has only been implemented in the basic stage.
Cause they obviously want to give everyone an opportunity to hit rank 10 first so the bArding is pointless due to everyone having it. Ironically I grinded out rank 10 (9 attack and stats from tank tree which is consequently the best for dps) upon checking my mail I had blm barding which I thought was for hitting rank 10. Obviously not. Tbh they could skip the reset and just give the barding for rank 10 based on the majority tree. Id imagine this being even easier to do. I digress. Their are more important things like adding a fail buff and making relics easier for those that chose to do something besides their relic. /sarcasm off
Also like to thank SE for the retarded 1000 character limit which is not only pointless but made me unable to quote the OP this and almost every time I post. GG complex thought. I get the idea though, lots of wow players and anything beyond omgzorz u suxx11 is un necessary.
Sorry if this has already been mentioned in a previous post but I don't think it'd be too difficult to add an item like The Keeper's Hymn item. Can just make it cost a lot of company seals. Or even offer it as a Veteran Reward like the Fantasia.
Still waiting on this fix...
I see a lot of people who argue that others should have waited before putting points in, but in the beginning we had no clue that 10 would be the max level, or that the bardings would be a reward for obtaining the final skill. There was absolutely no precedent in the game at the time; our character skills are easily reset, and most rewards come from achievements. The way they did chocobo companions honestly feels like a leftover from 1.0, harsh penalties with absolutely no information.
If they can add pop-up help text telling us how to use /say, why couldn't they have one that said:
"Don't bother customizing! Put all your points into one stat to get a reward the game doesn't mention! And if you make a mistake, 100s of hours wasted!"
Also, it was the ones who made the mistake that told others not to, otherwise they could have done the same thing.
Nothing in the game is as harsh as leveling our chocobo companion. It takes more time to grind the last couple levels than it does to take a class from 1-50. And yet that effort can be utterly trashed with the accidental click of a mouse. The arguement that the system is incomplete is invalid - if they didn't intend for it to be this way they shouldn't have left it alone this long, nor would they have added ways to grind our chocobo via the Challenge Log.
SE we want a response.
