I hate the word "troll". It's tossed around way too freely. Mihael was bringing up some valid points, but all of the people blinded by their dying adoration of the game can't be bothered to sit back and take it for what it's worth. Instead, they're a troll. Makes perfect sense.

Opinions are awesome because everyone gets to have one. There is no rule on this forum that says you cannot post anything negative in a fluffy "I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS GAME" thread. The title alone is more likely to be from a troll, trying to see who they would catch in their net. But hey, to each their own.

It's ok to like things, I actually really like the game even with all its flaws. Will people repeating how great and wonderfully flawless this game is suddenly make it perfect? Of course not, and pointing all of its flaws and posting feedback about them hoping the devs will notice and improve the game which will benefit everyone in the end won't make anyone a bad person for liking an imperfect game with little content at the moment. The amount of people leaving per week due to the lack of "meaningful" content is growing gradually. Like Miheal, I have stopped playing a while ago and stick around to see if the game gets to a point where I'll love it again.

Until then, myself and others like Miheal will keep providing our criticisms in the hopes that SE takes them to heart and works on the large amount of flaws this game has. Otherwise, this game will die much sooner than I feel it deserves.

You may not believe it, but the ones that continue to "complain" are the ones trying to help the game be better.

This is my favorite thread ever. ;A;

We do continue posting for attention. SE's attention. So they listen and put in the effort necessary to fix their flaws. We have no ulterior motives other thank making others aware of them.

You may not care, but we do. Or else we wouldn't stick around even after cancelling our subs. The fact that we've done so makes us worried about the game's future. If it'll help the game improve, I'll keep playing Devil's Advocate as long as I need to.

The way FFXV is looking and the reception Bravely Default has gotten has restored some faith, thankfully.

I've played a lot of mmo's, maybe this game is ok and I'm just sick of the genre entirely.

However, when I look at upcoming MMO's like EQ NExt, and Wildstar I can't help but get excited.

I think I'm just sick of the cookie cutter dungeon/gear grinders.

I'm really enjoying the game :)

But for the people on here that are advocating complaining, there's constructive criticism expressing concern about what you would like to see improved and then there's whining and complaining for the sake of arguing. You should make sure you're actually doing something that's going to make a positive impact on people that are reading it and not just trying to get attention or arguing for the sake of arguing and disguising it as 'devil's advocate'.

Mihael as far as I'm concerned 95% of your posts mention how amazing Dark Souls is and how amazing Dark Souls 2 is going to be. We get it. You like the game. I don't care about Dark Souls.

BTW, Skivvy is absolutely correct: there is no rule on the forums that prohibits you from posting your opinions.

There are, however, several rules on the forum put in place to prevent blatant harassment of another, derision, and bypassing the profanity filter.

I guess this thread just proves how one person can ruin anything rather it be for good or bad. I just wanted to try and be positive. I for one really like the game. It's my 3rd MMO. I played WoW, and GW2.
So far this one has delivered on all its promises(Which I'm really happy for)

I personally don't want a game with so much content that it's a struggle to complete before the next patch. This is what WoW felt like. I'd rather go through a game at a casual pace with my friend. Yet most would rather just spam and clear it all in a week.

My friend and I actually space out content so we can play the game daily, and we don't do it all at once. Maybe some of you need to do that, and mix in other forms of entertainment with FF14 Anything will seem bad and boring if it's literally all you do. I mean call me a casual if you want(I mean the offensive part of the word) I used to raid in WoW 5 hours a night 5 days a week in pretty top notch guilds.

Raiding progression honestly got to me, so I quit raiding in WoW.

In FF14 I just love the social aspect of my server and enjoy just sitting and talking at times with people. I guess I just play for a different reason than most. While it may not be the best to some people, it's just right for me. Which is why I made this thread in the beginning. I was hoping to find people that shared the same thoughts as I did with the game. I mean I really do feel good about where they are going, I hope this game continues to grow positively.

Personally, it's becoming a struggle for me to complete the content these days too.

I'm still trying to level my Warrior (currently 47 - gained a grand total of 4 levels this whole week), I've still got to do today's beastmen dailies, and I've still got to get my weekly CT loot (aiming for that healer's headpiece). What I have managed to do this week however, is clear T1 - T5, cleared my weekly share of primals for a primal weapon, and spent a whole day furnishing my new FC house.

I have skipped a good number of days for beastmen dailies - we're at least 2 months (about 50 days at least) past 2.1, and I still have not reached Friendly status with any of them. I have not gotten a full CT set for any of my alt classes. I have only managed to clear T5 for the first time last week. I have only been regularly clearing EX primals weekly for the last 3 weeks. So yeah. I'm feeling a bit pressured by trying to finish all these stuff.

That said, I do love this game, but what really keeps me going is having friends, a great FC, and a great community all around. That to me, is more important than the content. I'd be able to slog through any content, as long as I have my friends with me.

EDIT: If you're a sad Miqo'te now, use a Fantasia, and become a happy Lalafell. The world needs more Lalafells :D

Look: I understand. I have probably defended this game on several other forums in an overzealous manner on more than one occasion.

You mention having friends and FC members that you enjoy having around, right? Well, tonight I just had to say goodbye to another friend because nothing was keeping him interested. Do you know how many people I've had to say that word to over the past 2 months? It really saddens me: people I have played with since launch just leaving like that.

Then there is my FC where we are more together but still see people just drop off the face of the earth just about biweekly now.

How am I supposed to feel happy about this? What is causing these people to leave? Are they alone in thinking the way they do? I don't think so after reading this thread and several others.

Like you, I like almost everything about this game. I will still continue to subscribe as long as I can find enjoyment in it. My enjoyment is usually found in DF. I like to do crazy things that most people will never do like DF Titan Ex 40 times in one weekend just for the fun of it (I need nothing from it) or camp the PF just to see when people need help with relic stuff or even farming Ultima. I believe the community is what makes a MMO fun and this will always be the case.

But please don't act like those saying they don't find what you find fun (or what I find fun) are wrong for saying this.

If you are to look at the game right now at the end, there is not a whole lot to do honestly. Many of us have taken to leveling alts as a result. Since the changes to leveling, I can't level classes anymore in an enjoyable way. Previously, we were able to actually get to know players from our server because we were forced to group with them when leveling in FATEs. Now I get put in with a bunch of strangers in a dungeon where no words are said. This isn't indicative of a community to me and has sapped my fun away.

So ok: that's just one facet that I enjoyed. There are others...like crafting. Except, crafting is an exercise in masochism at the moment. I don't know if you've been to a MB lately, but things aren't looking too good. There seems to be zero incentive to craft anything but food right now. Creating a bunch of classes and then making them obsolete isn't really good game design.

It's all these little things that add up in the end. I can understand why people have to say their farewells to me now. If you love this game as much as I do, you will be able to still receive enjoyment from it but you also must be objective in analyzing the game.

Constructive discussion isn't wrong. What's wrong are snarky insulting comments like "low standards" directed towards someone who posted this thread who genuinely enjoys the game.

Telling someone they have low standards for enjoying this game is downright rude and insulting. How the hell would you feel if someone scoffed at you, telling you that you have low standards because of your favorite TV show? Or because of who you're dating?

Also, to answer your question: I'm not a big fan of people encouraging mediocrity. When Kam created a thread like this, he knew he would receive the responses he has given the nature of the general forum lately (and several posts on the front page opposing his stance).

If you're going to support someone but still say there is room for improvement, that's fine. If you're going to encourage the development team to perform at less than perfect levels when we've given them our support, we are going to have some issues. And that's pretty much what he did with his second post in this thread:

Sure they offer lots of dungeons, and are expanding the ever growing list of dungeons you can click yourself in in Duty Finder. However, I'd much rather take some innovative, interesting mechanics of one, well-thought dungeon than another two or three of the same dungeon with a twist. The thing with dungeons for me is that they're all so very linear, and basically the same with a few esthetical and mechanical (only during bosses) changes. They offer zero exploration, and when you do care to venture off the path, the items are useless (10 gil yay). There are no secret / optional bosses in dungeons. No different paths you could take...

The dungeons seem as cramped as the world does, which is my other point. This game does not meet the standard of MMORPG, or the idea of it that I have in mind. Why? because the world is tiny. It's not even tiny, it's absolutely miniscule in comparison for Guild Wars 2 for example. People might argue that no one needs all that space, but even the thought of them being there, even if you're not actively running around those places, is enough to create a huge amount of immersivity. They can be used later for quests, or something more innovative, yet again (I'm waiting for you, jumping puzzles).

I'm not saying the game is exactly bad. But it has been out for almost half a year, and there isn't a single interesting mechanic. The primals are hard for their insta-kill attacks and what I hear is lag (I never had any).

I expected more from a Final Fantasy MMO. And I still try to keep a small spark of hope alive.

brain dead healing = this game choking to death with lack of support players , i haven't played for couple of weeks and honestly can't bring myself to play this after being in W* stress beta and seeing how healing could be fun . Healing in XIV just so boring and unimaginative , i amazed at myself that i lasted as long as i did. XIV archaic combat system is boring, thus content is boring. Furthermore they think that insta death mechanics = difficulty.

I agree with you on this and I look forward to what we will get in 2.2 and beyond. Do I have criticisms regarding this game? Yes, but they're only very minor ones that don't impede my enjoyment of the game overall. I'm happy to see other players enjoy this game and I for one don't give two tugs of a dead spriggan's ears what the negative nancy-types say, they don't determine whether I enjoy this game or not (and I have a longtime taru friends from ff11 who was so spurned by 1.0 back in Oct. 2010 that he'll never go near ARR with a 100-yalm pole).

Me too. I love this game as of late, got a bunch of new friends + content. Also just hit 50 with PLD and it makes all the difference instant queueing + getting the bonus tomestones on the roulettes. I just think everybody should play tank in this regard as a first character as i did not. It made my experience a much more enjoyable grind.

Good luck keeping a competent Endgame FC interested in this game.

They need to fix their release schedule because CT updates after Coil is stupid (Coil *Higher iLevel! - 3month later CT *Lower ilvl than coil) stop it release CT and coil updates at the sametime and start working on a new Endgame

and plox we need some 24man Endgame Raid content for us Endgame FC's so we have something we can do as...you know... a FC?

It's rather simple Kamahil, not everyone is going to share the same perspective as you. Telling them they don't belong in this thread because of that makes you to be the fool. You want the community to be positive??? Then SE needs to deliver, because right now the game has quite a few flaws and shortcomings. I still play, nowhere near as much as I used to. That wont change unless they deliver some challenging content. The boss mechanics are so simple that I could prolly do them blindfolded.

SE basically has a game that looks great, and is dumber than a box of rocks. This is a MMO, there NEEDS to be content that isn't completeable by all before the next patch. Why? Simple, not everyone plays at the same skill level and pace as you.

SE had a valiant effort in giving content so easy that everyone can complete it, and a very small amount of people cant complete it (lolwut??) but it's just not working. Trying to ball everyone under the same roof of "I need hand holding and ezmode" was stupid.

Content will come. People will leave. Some will come back. Every MMO has this happen. MMOs wax and wane as content is released. A 3 month plan is pretty good as far as most are concerned. If you feel you did everything the game had to offer you, then congrats. Play something else and welcome back when you decide that it has more for you to do. Forums always catch extremes, I love it, I hate it! torch&pitchfork... but no matter how valiantly anyone defends the -game- (changed from train wreck) to deny that people are leaving in droves is just silly. Yes, there are a lot of people. All new people; all the time. As happy as I am to help... How many times must I say goodbye to friends? How many times must I help someone grow into a stronger player only to see them stop playing? I am obviously still playing, but less and less. I have a few good friends that I still log on to see, but it's getting harder.

I try to find my own fun in the game, I help -almost- anyone who needs it whether I know them or not, and there are things I enjoy. There are also things sometimes where I want to scream, "Let's burn this mutha down!"

Making a thread like this is just as pointless as making a thread saying the game is bad. No constructive critizism and just brings arguments. I can tell you're a real fan of taking the high road and keeping things constructive.

There are ways to have a civil conversation with people with whom you disagree with, but it appears you did not learn the technique. Expressing your love of a game is perfectly fine - back to my earlier comment about how everyone is allowed to have an opinion. That's what keeps things interesting. However, when either side starts getting attacked and called names simply for expressing those opinions, then there is a problem.

Based on his profile, OP appears to be a newer player, bright-eyed and bushy tailed. That's awesome. I'd love to feel that "Wow!" factor again, but at this point I just don't know what it's going to take. I am a legacy player, but when 2.0 launched, I had all of a level 15 THM and 15k to my name. I didn't start off with half my jobs already leveled or a ton of gil, so I feel I did get to experience the relaunch as a new player (for the most part). At this point though, I'm not feeling very inclined to stay logged in for long these days, and I will spare you the reasons why as I don't feel this is really that type of a thread.

Anyway, kudos to those of you still enamored with the game. Don't bash on those who are feeling stressed, disappointed, or whatever else by a game that we WANT to like and play.
