Change the tin drum sound of when you select an action from the action bar

I think it'd be cool if they could make a selection sound reminiscent of the selection sound found in Final Fantasy XII (not XI, in case you were thinking it was a typo).

Wasn't there a different sound durring alpha?

Yes please, at least give us an option to enable/disable this sound, I don't like it either, as I don't like to hear that aetheryte sound again and again when I'm close to any of it.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that! It sounded cooler too.

Time to look up some alpha videos.

That is like 20% less annoying, but it would still drive me crazy. Their keyword for the replacement of this sound should be "not annoying".

Should just get the guy who did FF12 or 13 sounds. God I hate XIV's. And I like having sound effects so the "just mute" solution is not nice, but it has to be done.

I would love to see this sound change. Please!!

god i dont even remember the noises, i turned that crap off way back when. The menu noise, even the targeting noise is just plain old annoying.

heck i dont even like the glowing circling thing they call a target. What ever happened to the simple gold arrow over the name from FFXI...was it not intrusive enough?

Its because it was from FFXI and their initial goal was to make it as different from XIV as possible.

I wanna swap the UI sounds out with the FF7 sounds.

I'd love to hear the old school sound effects, circa FFVI-VIII. Even XI's were okay. XIV's effects just sound...wrong. The select chime sounds more like a negative, and it's annoying.

I also realize this was probably a joke thread, but really, the menu effects are bad. They make me very sad.

First off... who are you to tell me whether or not I can think of VII as the greatest game ever? If I think it is, then it is in my mind. And sounds from VII were used in probably half of the other FF games so it's not like its exclusively from VII

In all honesty, though I play FFXIV daily, I cannot recall the action select sound. To me it wasn't anything significant, special, or out of place that it merited being remembered I guess. Though I am all for changing it if it irritates other players.

I like having a sound like that, it's all a matter of taste, right?
As long as we keep a sound when we select an action, it's alright for me.

the "not enough stamina sound" and the "echoey tunnel casting sound" are just as bad. You never noticed those either?

Not like I have not noticed them, I do not pay attention to them, I use a gaming chair though, and that stuff can get echoey and loud. Like was said, I know the sounds, but really can careless about them, but if it helps other's.

Casting sound is fine. It's not any better or worse than FFXI's casting sounds, except for the fact that they varied with the type of magic in that game. CON and THM need different casting sounds/animations.

Tin drum sound?

The battle confirm sound sounds like a flesh craving cyborg zombie chocobo howling angrily.

I seriously had a nightmare involving that sound. I was stuck in a house with a mad scientist that wanted to turn everyone into zombies. He finally cornered me with his army of zombies.. and they were ALL MAKING THAT SOUND.

They are all perfectly ordinary, acceptable, and expected sound effects, nothing that I would go out of my way to remember. But by all means voice your opinion if you dislike it so much. If they can find sounds that we all more or less agree on, that is surely better than sounds that we are at odds about.

Personally, the sound has never annoyed me, but if everyone else wants it to be changed, I wouldn't mind.

Just put on some hair metal and you'll barely notice it...
