I would agree with this sentiment 100% if myth gear was nonexistent. There was no sense of accomplishment with allagan loot when myth gear is easily obtainable.

But how will people know how great I am without a ribbon?
That is ridiculous. Beating it in a static is for example less impressive than a pickup. Should pick up groups get bonus items? And how do you determine how many in the pickup was not from pre-made parties? You'd have to create an incredibly advanced "Achievement system" that looks at gear score, people's FCs and LS and friendlist and then calculate your "achievement points" and then at the end you'll get different rewards because some were only half-achieving a victory while others did moire.
Also your "reward" for completing things early has always been that you get things ahead of time. This is something everyone seem to forget. It is just like in real life, if you buy a BMW model year 2000, then you'll see poorer people own it 10 years later second hand because it is no longer special. If you want to be special later, you have to buy the new car. Or in a MMO, clear the new content. The old contet is old and do no longer count as a achievement, and you'll just "have to deal with it".
It will always amaze with with peoples attitudes.. the whole "I cleared it first not give me something special for doing it before everyone else" mentality.
Do you realize how many people that would piss off? A "special glow" for gear? I've only run coil T1-T4 once all the way through and T1-T2 many times. I don't have a static that is available with my work schedule that changes weekly so I have to Party Finder it up.
So just because you have the necessary free time to clear the content, you should be rewarded with a special piece of gear or other ammenities?
What ever happened to the "Oh.My.God. We did it! Whooo!" feeling for beating something incredibly hard?
Kids these days. Gimme gimme gimme is all that's on your minds. Games used to be all about accomplishments, bragging rights for beating the hardest mode. Now its all achievements, special items for clearing it etc.
Faith in the gaming community is a dying fast.
Ooh, oooh, I know what we can give the people that cleared T5 prior to 2.2!
How about access to Turn 6 on day 1 of 2.2? That seems like a pretty rad little prize, don't you agree?
I never fought Twin pre 2.1 but to my understanding they really only nerfed Twisters. BUT in 2.1 it seems the difficulty was rounded out when they made RoD useless, nerfed Virus and made it so many groups wil only get LB2 for the snakes. I would like to get an opinion of people who killed Twin pre 2.1 and after.
I stopped reading at "Disclaimer: if you disagree what I say you must be a moron"
They do get something...pride in knowing they did it. It is a personal achievement and whatever anyone else does has nothing to do with their own accomplishment.
You already got to lord your gear over others for a few months. Quit whining and utilize your gear to down the new content, and enjoy lording the new stuff over those filthy casual publords for another few months.
Unless you got carried to i90 and are terrified the legacy of your skill will die with 2.2 because your FC realized you are bad...
... why else would you be worried about this?
The only people who care what you achieved before a nerf to an encounter is the ones complaining about not being a unique snowflake. Stop whining nobody cares but you. Deal with it, if you rush to end game content then lay in the bed you made. The rest of us will do content when we're good and ready since it's not going anywhere.
Not true at all. They have explicitly stated that the echo buff will apply over weeks of not beating it, not individual wipes.
Get this. They also said the echo buff is completely optional. Do those groups that elect to fight without the echo buff also get these proposed rewards?
I don't know if it's been said but:
They're removing the cap on myth gear. This allows you to get i90 myth gear as fast as you like. It makes perfect sense to also remove the lockout for coil.
The reward is you get an achievement date of before the nerfs went into effect and also you can start the new content right away without having to farm old content. All the 1-5 gear is going to be replaced with 6-9 gear if you are a top tier player very soon so it doesn't make sense for SE to go and make the 1-5 gear look different.
The hardcore top tier players will be sporting the new 6-9 gear while casuals will be running around with the 1-5 and myth gear still.
