Anyone who gets deceived by another player's costume in PvP DESERVES their loss. Not to mention tons of MMOs allow vanity costumes in PvP. You never hear anyone complaining about it in those said games because it isn't a big deal. Just another overzealous restriction on Sqaure's part.

That's idiotic. hard core PvP people play there battles in min graphics settings to have that edge in recognition and reaction. so people who don't/can't deserve it too!?

Most PvP these day force color code(red vs blue) and simple costumes just for these reasons. Yoshi has the right of it at least in tournament style PvP.

Over world they can do what they want but ff14 isn't a gank fest type to have overworld pvp

no it's simply we haven't acces to all the area, they can have a stronghold, but we haven't found it already. we don't have acces to all the north of Eorza, and we cover only a small part of the island of limsa lominsa.

we have still 3 city states to explore: Ishgard, Ala Migho (to the north-east) and Sharlayan (north-west)
we don't have acces to the whole Shroud, nor Coerthas... i guess we have enough room for see stronghold of Beastmen we didn't meet yet.

I'm hoping new dungeons with 2.2 expand upon the garlean content. Like the place in East Shroud. Just go south from where the big lvl 20ish NM fate spawns and look.

I get more of a classic Final Fantasy feel from CM and praetorium than any other dungeon.

I'll admit I was very skeptical about the Hidbrand quest, but after doing them, I find myself wanting new missions every update. The funniest stuff in game.

Actually Yoshi P explicitly stated he will increase the level cap when he adds new classes/jobs and that the first of these would come BEFORE 3.0. Given that Shiva is scheduled for release as well and is going to need an entire new region added to introduce her beast tribe it's not unfeasible to consider the possibility of a 5 level cap increase and the first new class accompanying it.

I am looking forward to see next chapter of Hildibrand questline

Except this ban isn't "red vs blue", color coding the teams would be fine since there would actually be a point. But in this ban's case both teams will be struck in identical costumes with no set color schemes to tell each other a part. Not to mention several of the classes use the same outfit design.

You also still will only to able to tell three of the parts the opponent is wearing (chest, hands, and feet). Helms can be toggled off, leg gear is very generic also typically hidden under robes/mail, and everything else isn't shown. All the relevant PvP abilities that could make a player rethink how they approach an opponent are linked to skills/materia, also not distinguishable from seeing gear.

This ban was poorly thought out and serves no point. Any strategic purpose it would serve doesn't exist in this game's PvP setup.

In honest you should be able to tell the class by the weapon they have equipped. But, I do also consider it less pure of a win if you had to win by using deception. If everyone also dresses to deceive then the combat becomes a bit messy and frantic. Hardly an enjoyable arena to display ones mastery and skill of a class.

This is an interesting article, posted before the release of 2.0.

I'm quite intrigued to see how the first expansion - i.e. not a patch - pans out. I wonder if we'll have to buy it separately like WoW players do.
