Wat you miss when abandoning leves

there's plenty of mobs that give you good sp in parties at each level. sure, there's not as many as i'd like since i do enjoy a good few hour grind as well, but they do have some. more needs to be added though.

leves dont work if you want to get to 50 fast though

you only get 3 per camp per 36 hours

a smart person does leves AND grinds, not just 1 or the other

its not about whats better, in the end, leves can be better by miles, but you can only do so many per cycle, whereas you can ALWAYS grind anytime you want, for any length of time

First, I'm not raging over anything. I don't particular care what you have to say enough to cause me emotional distress/discomfort. Secondly, the fail leave system doesn't cause me any kind of anger either. I see it as a black mark in the game which caters to lazy people by rewarding them more for failure then by playing the game with the intent to win. So stop trying to superimpose my "feelings" on the issue.

As I have mentioned before, no amount of ornamental words or nonsensical justification in the vein of "thats how I playz da game!" changes the fact -- it is reward for failure. The very foundation of that idea is ass-backwards. You're right, no one forces me to play any particular way but the fundamentals of hardwork = success should be a constant in ANYTHING. Keep trying to find justification if it flips your skirt though in the bizarre loophole and exploit the hell of it.

lol people I know are on there 4th 50's from strictly leves, rare raptor parties.. They have an optimized route for canceling all the leves and just teleporting all over and just rotate the anima duty.. works wonders I've seen them hit over 100k+ sp in a night.. which is wdf retarded.. and again.. grinding isn't really efficient until 45+ due to the lack of monster groups. I mean coblyns USED to be great .. again. yeah grinding would be fine if we had more mobs, and EXP chains at-least. Usually on off time they just craft though ;o

just another thing to throw out there.. whats the point of getting to 50 atm right now? To kill buffalo? DoDore? Mosshorn? Gob? Uraeus? lol childsplay, I could go play pikmin and have a harder time beating the first level then those damn things.. I encourage people to take the slow roll to 50, because if rushed you will only get disappointed.. I hope that changes come June -fingers crossed- Though I'll be in germany come next thursday so I won't see it till July T_T

if you like to grind here is a nice little post by someone else on the forums the other day. i like to grind also so copied it for my use. i am sorry for whoever posted it as i cannot remember to give you credit for it as it is a nice list. i tested a few of them, but not all as i do not have classes in all ranges to test.

Rank 18-25: Puks in Nanawa mines north of Aetherite on bridges (~21-25 k sp/hr depending on rank)
Rank 26-28: Ants in lower floor of copperbell (~18-22 k/sp)
Rank 28-35: Camp Nine Ives off efts and bird near the Circle camps (~24-27 k sp/hr)
Rank 35-42: Camp Treespeak Circle off Efts, lemurs, and Ix'tal (~23-26 k sp/hr)

I agree, and hopefully they will address this, I think by adding SP bonus' for completing leves would big a good step in that direction.

Adding this they could then increase the popularity of less popular leves, and add further bonuses for linking them as well.

but those are the ones people use, if even that is all it really is

maybe it's just me but when I do faction, it's just like another leve with different mobs, and after awhile it's gets the same feeling of "I've done this over 20x", they just prolonged the appearance of that effect by adding points. Granted they are ,at first,funner, Just after awhile dull none the less.

it's the same thing with the world nm's. the first few times i was all excited to go fight them and by now it's like ummm idk i am fishing or crafting maybe later.

EXACTLY! I mean first time to fight buffalo we wiped and I was like o shit.. finally a challenge! Then after a few tries and after we found out sorrnous blast (sp?) was a hate reset, it was easy mode and we went about our boring ffxiv lives.. it's pitiful =\ They need an AV reincarnate >_> Only reason I fish is because it requires minimal attention and I can watch anime, even that I've stopped doing though so idk. June will make me a believer again I hope, I spent so much money on this damn game, it better not fail xD...Maybe not as much money as per say time.

buffalo i never really had a problem with because i was in an experienced linkshell so i just had to follow their lead. my issue was how many times i watched people wipe to dodore pre nerf and people figuring out emulate. that thing was a beast until people figured out to tank it with a good thm or mele with the thm ability. i was still doing nm's before the nerf almost daily, but now if i do them now it is just to duo or trio one. since the nerf they are completely boring.

edit: i fish because i am leveling alchemy and just now starting cul so it gives me multiple classes to rank up at once. it also allows me to watch tv and relax. when i get free time to myself i like to kick back because when my group gets on in the evening it is go go go go. either it's leves or going to grind.

Ah well we never had problems with dodore.. before the whole emulate, and before we had a thm leveled really, we just GLD tanked him.. was difficult, but we basically mimicked gob strat. Buff was hard because we were ignorant to the blast .. one fight we got over it and we just steam roll him now.. The ls i help run is quite efficient at killing nms now, get about 2 kills of one NM in it's window. Other than that it's to the point where thms Emulate really needs to get nerfed, it makes this easy game even easier.. A thm in my guild is soloing dodore and gob for fun now... that shouldn't happen.. at least not until sky jesus... RDM solo genbu >_> -face palm-

to the fishing thing yeah... my sigs not updated.. but I have fishing at 35 now and it was like blahh I have alch at 27 but man I don't have the patience anymore to break fish :[

the one thing is i don't think it's emulate that needs to be nerfed. i think it's the mobs that are all magical should have some physical attacks instead of all magic. the dodore is easy because as long as you stay outside of its range for the tail whip you are safe since none of the minions attack physically. the gob is the same way, but they do have a physical attack it's just really weak. either that or have each of the dodore's minions be a different element that way if you emulate one you take over the strength of that one, but the others can still do massive damage.

the reason i don't like the nerfing of abilities like that one is they only have small amounts of occasions they are useful. it just happens to be the 2 times its useful is during nm battles. if they made adjustments to those mobs in little aspects it would still have use, but not be the end all be all there.

well outside of elementals, dodore, and gob there's not much use in emulate. it does you zero good to use it against a physical attack mob because it only takes elemental resistance. i just don't want to see an ability nerfed then have no use at all in game. they should all have something they assist with and nothing being completely worthless.

then again it's like most of this game. if you took a step back most of the issues in the game could have been fixed with changes not completely redoing it and already been getting content by now. it's easier to make little fix here and there than to completely take it down and redo it.

if i make a program and something doesn't work properly i debug and find the error and fix if. i do not throw the code out and start from scratch. if i cannot fix the error by fixing things then i will start from scratch using a different approach. i do not do work on games or anything like that just basic .exe programs. gaming language could be completely different so i am not sure there. it just seems common sense.

I won't name names but I've seen large numbers of people get "carried" to their first 50 without learning anything at all about the game (I'm not even saying there's a lot to learn) and then try to do ridiculously easy NMs and fail repeatedly or barely scrape by with the safest/cheesiest strategies available. Sure, it doesn't really matter to me directly if someone else sucks, but what if SE starts catering the game to these people? The rest of us want future content to be considerably harder than what there is now.

Hm I leve failed my first 50 and I've learned a lot :p granted I didn't only leve fail, if that's ALL you do sure you will suck...but I doubt there are more than a handful that only leve fail in the game. Granted some people just suck at the game, and to those you have to teach.

Ya know if the Templar buccaneers and harliqen sets were worth a snot and were not out classed by gear that was in the game before they were added then failing out and loosing faction points would have some weight. but as it is they are inferior for the most part.

I really get a chuckle out of this I'm a better player then you because i don't fail my leves mentality though.

whether you are leve failing or leve completing you are doing the same thing. you are killing mobs, but the ones failing kill one less. it that one mob per leve makes you dramatically worse then you have bigger problems than the leve itself. it's nowhere near as bad as the soloing to 50 on coblyns/doblyns. at least in a leve party you were in a ya know party.

what direction has the game headed since it was put out easier or harder? the game is and has been getting easier since yoshi took over so why should we expect him to change it now? don't believe me go check out the nm's pre nerf and post nerf. go check out the aggro icons. the game started too easy and has gotten even easier since then.

In this game is there really a goal worth bragging about? IDTS.

Personally, there's not much satisfying about completing a leve I've done about 200 times already. The SP is a far better reward to me than marks or another umbral moraine. To me the question should be what am I missing out on by NOT failing leves. The answer to that would be the fun of using that class to farm mats for NM gear.
