Absolutely nothing will change if people don't "whine." This is not real life (and people don't just grin and bear it here either). No one has a problem with "working for it," but the goals need to be within reach. With prices this high, especially on legacy servers, you might as well tell people to save up for the Moon.
I agree. There absolutely needs to be an outpouring of criticism for the current pricing model vs. reward. Without people "whining" no change would ever happen.
I do not think I would have as much of an issue with the prices if housing was not limited to a certain amount of plots available, and if the sizes reflected Free Company sizes. The houses released are the size of what I would expect personal houses to be. I have never played a game with guild housing that had such tiny houses expected to be shared by entire groups of people.
I alone have earned enough gil crafting since EA to purchase a top grade small plot of land on a legacy server.
I don't see a problem with the prices of land. If it's too expensive, no one will buy, and the price deflation mechanism built into the system will take it's toll, dropping the price until others decide to purchase.
There is nothing you can do about it but wait and let the market speak for itself.
Unless the prices drop to the halfway mark, stop deflating, and still nobody buys a house. I'm actually hoping for this scenario, because in that case SE will be forced to drop the prices. The prices don't just keep dropping until somebody buys. They drop until the halfway mark and stop.
Small fc mansion = 20 bedroom, mid level = 40 room, elite mansion = 120 room. Is the bare minimum expected at those prices. The fact they give you a house from the dollar store / home depot barn is so laughable that to anyone buying it I feel sorry for them.
Prices aren't bad if the goods are worth it... ATM they're selling piles of dung for 100,000g....... Heck I have a cardboard box in my garage to sell for just $20mil USD if anyone is interested.... Seriously the only way is ignore housing. If not a single person buys a plot maybe after a few months they'll come down off their high horse of unintelligent bliss and make choices suited for a RPG... The long term grind for FC housing I could for see. Getting a barn room fit for ghetto life for 8mil+ is so laughable I hope even the street beggars have a spark upstairs that ignites long enough to come to an intelligent STAND...
think ill just play ffxi and redecorate my ENTIRELY FREE MOG HOUSE when the urge to play house arises, lol.
I think there is a lot of misconception about this housing system they implemented. As suggested it's barely bigger than the inn's room. The cheapest is 8m for what you can already have for free, just minus features like furniture. I would expect a house of this size to be the size for a personal house but for an Free Company house it's asking a lot for that price. It's as if they are implementing the idea base on culture. (Yes certain place have what is call house as small as that with four or five people living there.) But this is a fantasy not real life.
Also this community is giving some pretty weird signals. Yes congratulation you spent countless hours on achieving something in a virtual world. Sadly, it's just a game you didn't actually earn anything and housing is never a hardcore type of content. It should absolutely be for casual players because that is what it was made for. You want entitlement of spending hours? You already have that it's a game call Life.
Unfounded Speculation. Patch Notes disagree:
They can and will add more wards if people buy out all the houses in supply.Quote:
Each residential district is divided into a number of identical wards. Even if the plot of land you desire has already been purchased in a certain ward, it may still be available in another.
Additional wards will be added as required based on fluctuations in the population and economy of each World.
Yes most mmos realize housing is for casual players that want something to do when they're RPing/being bored/need a change of pace, instead FFXIV gets hardcore housing that no one will do because they are all gonna wait for the price to go down like smart people would.
It's even more than that.
YoshiP wrote a forum post on the state of the economy and crafters. He said that they're aware that crafted gear is currently only useful for a small period of time, and the end game gear is not crafted, which means that crafters aren't particularly useful right now, except for a short period of time before players hit end game. He said they weren't going to forget about crafters, and would try to make sure that crafting would be useful.
He mentioned two ways that they were going to improve crafters' situation: PvP gear, and furniture for houses. So crafters were looking forward to housing because it was a way for them to be useful and contribute to their FCs and economy.
But now that housing is so expensive, very few people will be able to actually afford houses. So furniture isn't even going to be a viable market for crafters, because no one will have any use for furniture.
In other words, the primary method that they were going to keep crafting relevant is going to be dead on arrival.
Yes, lots of people are disappointed to not have the opportunity to buy houses. And they've completely undercut their attempt to help crafters stay relevant.
