Hildibrand will be discovered trapped in a chunk of crystal inside Turn 6, like a bug in amber. After you free him, he'll talk at length about how he had to survive on Dalamud for weeks eating nothing but antimatter slimes, and then rode one of the dislodged spear things down like the nuke from Dr. Strangelove once Bahamut got loose.

As far as being a source of "much life" to v1.0, it was more like realizing the team could not only "fix what's broke" (as is said in southern USA), but could do some quality comedy as well, along with an epic theme song. At times Hildibrand is so ridiculous and over-the-top you can't help but laugh. And then you realize you're laughing while playing v1 and you know the game is in good hands. At least that's how it was for me. -
