What people wanted to do with this emote I'm pretty sure isn't called cuddling.
I think the crux of the issue is that they released content and then limited it to such a small percentage of the population - on some servers it is over 20 million for the SMALLEST house.
Please explain to me the part of any emote currently in the game that is pornographic. I have yet to see a nipple or genitals in this game. Further more, this game is rated teen, it also requires internet access to play. So assuming everyone playing is at least 13 and has the internet I can safely say that minors viewing a miqote doing /angry with someone right behind her doing / cheer is the least of our problems. The game is not the issue nor is the content, the issue is the user. If seeing the previously mentioned series of emotes would offend someone, that person needs to gtfo and/or grow some thicker skin. Welcome to the internet.
And as far as the 3ds aanalogy is concerned, firstly I would like to point out that it is an apples to oranges comparison. Secondly, you are not required to use that feature of the 3ds anyway. And in all honesty if you are going to interact with a complete stranger over the internet eeven if it IS on a device who's primary market is children, you should probly realize you may receive inappropriate pictures text or what have you. On the internet nothing is sacred and everything goes. Dont want your kid to receive adult content online? Use parental Controls tto filter what you can and good common sense as a parent to filter what the Controls cant catch. I'm so sick of SE treating everyone in this game like they are ten. (Which at the end of the day is the real issue at hand) I do not possess the capacity to care less than I already do about /doze. What I do care about is being policed by a company that I am paying to entertain me. If I find entertainment in /doze Ing for any reason, in on or around anything, who am I hurting and why should I/they care?
That's really weak. I didn't even get to try it out yet :(
We just want more freedom. Mum SE control us too much.
give the game a mature rating then the problem is solved.
While they are at it, lets go ahead and get rid of all forms of chat in the game. After all, people can say inappropriate things. Get rid of the rest of the emotes, they are already abused anyway. We'll just stand there and stare at each other doing nothing. Very social!
Players will still find a way to do certain things but at the same time SE probably does not want to get raged on when people can do it with ease due to "convenient features". I can understand both sides but the rating on the game package should define the limits so that customers are prepared for what to expect when their youths play and others know what to expect as well.
It reminds me of when I saw a pile of K.O. characters that tactfully and creatively fell into specific poses on a bed because it was the only way for the character physically lay down. Trust me, it is done regardless of how the game itself intends to enable it! The difference is that censoring excludes the game developer from blame where providing content can make them liable for it.
Yes people do cruise mmorpg for this type of play. "Exclusive" can imply that they do nothing else in the game but exclusively cybering.. really they can also level their characters and use the other features of the game in addition to sequestering a large amount of game play for ___ time. It does not have to be purely one or the other for some one to be highly active in both.
I think with this thread, i'm done visiting general discussion with any intent of finding useful discussion. I cannot believe this has reached 6 pages of QQ about something to ridiculously trivial.
So square wants to keep the visual integrity of the overworld intact by not letting idiots run around /trust-ing in people's mouths and giggle to themselves. It doesn't hurt anyone to be able to do it, but it most certainly isn't hurting anyone who cant. If it does, then that's a different issue in itself.
And i thought League of Legends' GD was bad.
It is up to SE to decide whether or not they intend to censor their content, regardless of the overall trends in other mmorpg's of the same age rating. Its not that the emote can or cannot be used it is what it can be used for. Like I was saying, there is no real way to stop players from doing suggestive things in a game that allows control of a character and the ability to write text. The problem is that people can hold the developer responsible. I personally think its cool as long as the packaging and TOS defines what is allowed so that people know what they bought. I just totally understand why they might not want to allow certain content.
Edit: When a developer puts content in a game they have to deal with policing it too. It is kind of hard to define without being graphic but some mmo's go the route of allowing it, sequestering it to specific and properly marked areas that are age restricted and then police it to protect players from the abuse that the kind of content tends to attract. I realize one emote that can be taken too far is not the same as specific content designed for that use, my point is when it CAN be done it WILL be done and intended use or not, devs have to deal with the subsequent fallout.
If someone decided to sue SE over an emote being used in an adult manner by a player, they would never win. Not in a hundred years.
More and more I am worried about the upcoming vanity slots
SE is censoring everyone and everything, limiting creativity and the freedom for players to do what they want. I'm sure when it gets implemented there's going to be a dozen restrictions in place to the point where it's not even worth it.
The mail restriction is ridiculous, the whisper restriction in dungeons is ridiculous, this emote restriction is ridiculous, why are there so many restrictions?
Censorship is never a good thing
I'm surprised SE doesn't censor /say and /shout, because people might say unkind things!
Since its already been proven to SE that you can make "inappropriate" stuff with whats available right now there really is no reason for them to limit this particular emote.
Infact if this is how SE see things then there is a TON of things they should consider removing since some people could use it for evil purposes.
We don't even get an allowance either... Damn deadbeat SQE...
But seriously.. this is just getting ridiculous. People will use what they have to create "inappropriate" pictures.. and does square -seriously- think that the people that are in housing won't do the same? Do they think that because they could afford the house, they're more mature than those that would do that kind of stuff in public?
You have one job SQE.. give us a fun and balanced game, not try to protect us from "bad things".
You either need to be an adult, or your parents are allowed you to play the game (technically speaking).. so that means that everyone playing the game should be mature enough to handle a few screenshots of people laying down. I mean, really, if you have any idea of what 'rule 34' is SQE, you should know that there's probably FAR WORSE stuff out there about your game(s) already.
If you're worried about your image taking a hit because of it, grow a pair. There's a town on a particular WoW server that has nothing -but- the worst of the RP community there, everyone who plays the game knows of it's existence; whether they wanted to or not. That being said, I don't think anyone has ever not gone to WoW because of the activities there... But, if you treat the players like you're their nanny, they will get fed up with you because of it and so will potential players.
As i just mentioned, WoW.. Moonguard.. Goldshire... It's existed for years. Blizzard has yet to have had a PR scandal over the existence of that putrid cesspit; i think SQE will be fine with giving people the ability to lay down.
I dont know what more disturbing, the fact that someone too the time to find those two emotes and make them look like that, or the fact that there is probably a horny 15yo behind the male, thinking he is banging a hot chick, instead its a 30yo male ped-o-bear (and before you you say i am being anti gay, I am gay myself)
The censoring in this game is crazy, they treat us like little babies yet their game has adultery quests :\
"Fresh Meat"
"No tells whilst in dungeon"
now this...
lmao, cmon square.. this is a T rated game, we aren't 12.
I don't recall any any MMO (aside from hearing something about SWOTR) allowing sex or sexual acts in game. I mean really, you saying we aren't a kids, then why don't you grow up a little and stop complaining you cant stick your epeen in a few well formed pixels
This emote restriction is quite pointless considering players already can and have used existing emotes to do every lewd action under the rainbow. Cripes, the final hours of beta phase 3 in Ul'dah on my server was basically a cross between an orgy & a circus.
Considering that I'm not gonna be spending much time in my FC's house anyway (when we eventually get one), I can't say this is affecting me much...
Its a lame restriction sure I guess, but not one that's gonna affect me in any meaningful way.
I think the only ones complaining about being treated like a kid are kids and the rest of the adult world couldn't care less about this thread, either side of the argument, or people who pretend to have vidsex.
So they wanna have emoteacourse....who cares?
SE got rid of an emote....who cares?
My only reply to this bs

^That guys wins
I think the big thing isn't this -one- emote restriction, but rather it's another point in a trend by SQE to censor and/or nanny the players like we can't handle ourselves in an online enviroment. That's what the concern is, not the fact that we can't lay down on a park bench in ul'dah.
I think its just another example of SE short sightedness & laziness. They probably didn't think people would want the /doze animation to apply outside of fc housing, but they could have just asked us (which SE will never learn to actually ask what people paying for their product want) and now people are dissatisfied they make up a lame excuse to avoid doing the work.
Mi'Qote + Large Bust Size + Bard AF/Myth body + Dance emote. Oggle for HOURS.
I used to be a Mi'Qote like you, then boobs got boring so now I'm a Lalafel. They have even better emotes.
You are gay? Really?? That's interesting!
...oh wait, IT'S NOT.
I know you hope with all your heart that some kind of Anti-Anti-Gay dudes shows around to give you an excuse to make him feel shameful, but I can assure you that wasn't going to happen.
Plus, your argument wasn't even close to trigger that kind of polemic: being deceived is not a matter of sexuality. A gay dude who thinks to speak to a woman, it's still deceived, not happy, when he finds out the other one is a male.
Thanks for sharing, anyway!
I hope everyone will put his sexual orientation as signature, in future.
You know, since it is SO relevant.
While I could care less about it myself. I do find it funny that SE would censor considering the now two quests where I have had to rub men's bodies....
