Skipping Lag, People Teleporting, 2-5 Second Delay, Fast-Forwarded

Even with a VPN service you still get lag on west coast? I'm sorry to hear that...

A friend of mine also in upstate NY bought BattlePing and hasn't had issues since. Even so, I won't pay for another service to do what I'm paying my ISP and SE to do. I can play other games just fine for free...

Got lagg issue with TWC from SoCal.

Using battleping fixed it. Can't say I am pleased having to shell out extra for a vpn service.

This seems to be something on the west coast USA.

From here in Sydney if I use the LA smoothping servers I get the skipping lag. I have to use Chicago or New York servers to get a good connection.

Just throwing me "me too" into the ring. Using Comcast near Atlanta, GA. The game's been pretty much unplayable this past weekend. I ran tracerts until I was blue in the face and all the packet loss is occurring in the latter hops. I even bought a month of BattlePing, but it doesn't appear to help. Interestingly though, I can play the character I made on the JP datacenter without much issue.

TimeWarner Cable here, can't log in at all at this point. Couldn't do Coils with my FC. This is getting real irritating.

So any response from staff?

Since yday i started to get nonstop lagg spikes.Game totaly unplayable and i live in Europe 100/10 connection, no isues with any other game i play online.SE fix it or well you lose another costumer.

Weeks of lag here - west coast connection, Charter Communications in California(San Luis Obispo charter office). Since the most recent patch I have not only been having the consistent 1-2 second lag I have been suffering for ages, but huge lag spike resulting in completely disconnecting from the server, a couple times a day if not more.

If you want to try to actually get someone working on it, need to use the proper reporting tools--SE's and your ISP's support portals.

Best advocate will likely be your ISP, as the bulk of the problems appear to be cropping up at the segments managed by everyone's ISP's routing partners. These are the guys that are carrying the data beyond our ISP's localized segments and handing it off to SE's ISP. They don't have any agreements with SE to carry your data--but they DO have agreements with your ISP, so there is a better chance to get someone to lean on the people mostly responsible for the problems if you can get your ISP to investigate it more thoroughly than just verifying your modem has a good connection.

If you can provide at least the actual IP your game client is using for them to run tests against, they should be able to spot some signs of the pending congestion issues in the routing. If you can actually provide pathping/tracerts clearly showing the symptoms it will give more incentive for them to escalate things to a higher support tier. You will likely need to go beyond the help desk that takes your phone call, so you may want to check their website for a chat option or an email option--with any luck this well get you to Tier3 or higher support faster. If online contact options aren't available and you have at least the IP address your client is using, when you call in push to speak with a tier3 technician (especially if you have pathping/tracert data to provide them)--mention you've investigated your connectivity specifically to the game server and you have information for the T3 techs to use for testing that you need to forward to them. With any luck, you'll actually get one on the line, or at least an email address you can use to submit your information.

Post 2.1: Problem still persists and hasn't changed. Called and scheduled for a complete overcheck on my ISP and nothing is problematic. Even changed modem for a throw up.

Also a time warner user with frequent "fast forwarding" in instances.

Bard, suffering from skipping lags and other funny stuff here^^ It started right after 2.1 patch. Can't run in my Coil static group because of that, or any other group in dungeons and etc ;_; Nearly impossible to play with this.

This is happening to me using TWC in Dallas, Texas.

It is for the most part infrequent but on some nights it's nearly unbearable. I was just in Wanderer's Palace and I would freeze up for 5-10 seconds and following that I would end up "fast forwarded" back to real time. At one point I was disconnected from the game. I usually only encounter this issue in instances.

Verizon user in Maryland having horrible problems in instances. One issue during hydra was that none of my skills were even connecting with the server due to lag being so bad. No problems occurring outside of instances or before pulls in instances like Titan Extreme but once the fight starts up latency shoots up and I experience lag spikes throughout the encounter which is immediately resolved once it's over.

TWC user in southern California here. For the past few weeks at least I've had intermittent terrible performance, usually in the evening. When it occurs it takes several seconds to perform any actions. Its difficult to even craft or gather when it occurs, forget anything battle related.

I know it's probably not much comfort for you guys but I can say that I'm having the same problems across the pond in England as well.

Same issue that everyone else is describing that started a few days ago. ISP is Sky Broadband and FF is the ONLY thing that I'm having any issues with, every other game and application runs fine.

I mean I live in Tokyo (hence the tonberry server) and I usually get ~ 40ms ping. And even I have been having these problems, its quite embarrassing to try to run CT and end up forcing your party to only have one healer because you are standing there like an ass the entire time.

Where i am verizon is crap and we have atlantic broadband which is much much stronger in the area. Ever since the patch ive been getting bad spikes in delay and lag but ONLY when im in a fight, especially in dungeons and other duties. I cant help my party when im being hindered by lag and delay with my attacks. its never been this bad before. And then there is the freezing! We all probably know how bad its become for us PS3 users. Hopefully when the ps4 version comes out, the power the system has to offer will put us in equal playing ground as pc users.

I'm experiencing the same issues as well. I'm in NC, USA. I would get extreme lag, fast-forwards, hot/cross bar acting crazy. I contact TWC now and they did a test. They said that there was some packet loss. They're sending out a technician tomorrow to check the lines. I hope that fixes it, but I'm somewhat doubtful.

My husband and I are having this exact same issue.

We're on TWC in New York, and are consistently dropping packets at a middle route called Cogent Communications (and there's various ip's involved there). We have contacted TWC, been escalated to teir 3, modum replaced, someone out to the house to look at the wires, etc, and they basically say, it's not their problem, it's a third party carrier's problem.

It's definitely a connection issue because pingzapper and wtfast make the lag disappear, however, we have a number of people in our FC with this issue, to the point that, although we could do the titan fight in our sleep right now, we CANNOT COMPLETE IT due to a number of lag kills after heart phase every time.

Here we are, paying a monthly subscription to a game we cannot play without a pay third party program to bypass nodes that seem to be throttling this game. I'm told that this happened to Wargames on their servers once upon a time, and THAT company contacted those servers and got them to stop. Why, Square, can't you do this for us as well? Oh right, you have our money. Who cares?

I live at the Philippines and I'm having this issue right now... It's been 3 days and I've been trying everything to figure out what went wrong.. checked for viruses, malware, called my ISP etc... Still lagging nonstop and I can't do anything about it.. Please help. ;_;

You may be getting caught up in the mess in California at the moment. There is a major corridor through southern California that is used for pulling traffic from the Pacific into the mainland.

Compound that with all the holiday retail traffic and increased streaming as more and more people cut off their Cable and Satellite TV packages (doing it myself in the New Year)... there are all kinds of problems with the US infrastructure. And they keep overselling markets too. US providers need to step up their game and beef up the networks in general.

People are still using me as a referral for Pingzapper. Thanks a lot, but it's also sad to see just how many people are having an issue with lag like I am. Luckily though I still have had 0 issues since signing up.

Since the last maintenance Monday for the first time playing FFXIV I have been experiencing insane 5 sec lag spikes which occur every 20 seconds or so which is making the game unplayable.. I can forget doing any Raid's or duty finders.. It is even difficult to craft.. I have the best internet ever in my area.. My other online PC and PS4 games work fine with no issues.. I have Verizon FIOS 150/65 package which hella sick!! My Wife plays the game as well and she gets the same lag spikes on her PC so I'm thinking maybe its the communication between Verizon FIOS and S/E servers? Again this has only been an issue since the monday patch update..

Unfortunately I've been getting these too and they're rather annoying. My ISP is BT if anyone can relate.

I'm TWC in NC. I've been using WTFast for the past month at 27ms. Now that I have subbed WTFast my ping is 60+... Very frustrating.

I've been getting the same things here in MA, with Verizon. It's making the titian HM fight especially difficult. I got from nothing to 3 plumes instasploding on me in accelerated fasion. Could it be a side effect of the new position updating that they did?

I dont really notice it outside of dungeons, and the trials, especially.

I've always had problems with latency but it's seemed especially bad since 2.1

I can't clear Titan HM, either. I'm either off the map before I see a Landslide or somehow getting hit by two plumes at once when on my end I'm about 20 yards out of any of them.

Using Charter cable in Wisconsin. Nowhere near the SoCal mess.

I get the same problem when in most instances.

However instances that are forgiving if you get a moment of lag is acceptable.

Now with titan EM sometimes i am fine for 10mns and sometimes i get a few lag spikes at a crucial time and of course this fight is not forgiving.

Just hard to understand that in this day and age. Every mmo i have played including ffxi, have never given me any issues whatsoever but this game ?

I hope something is done about it SE.

I used WTFast I use the la servers but when the update/maint happen I starting lag when using WTFast. cancel my paid sub and removed from my laptop here . ive cox cable

Same thing has been happening to me recently. Game would freeze for 10 seconds, fast-forward then everyone's dying because lack of heals. Very game breaking indeed ><

Same issue here with Hydra fight. Impossible to win due to the lag everyone was having.

Gave the Pingzapper trial a shot last night. It does seem to help and works quite a bit better than other free VPN solutions I've messed with, but damned if I'll actually pay an additional sub in addition to the cost of XIV to keep playing.
