AKA, you skip all quest text, work every exploit you can and hardcore NoLife the game until it's got nothing left to offer.
'MMO vets,' please... you've got no skills that others don't have as well. Just lots of time to throw at the problem.

What's really funny is that I am 100% sure that I was playing the games that eventually evolve into MMO's before that person could even walk.

Hahaha, yeah. That's called 'using a crutch.' Everyone can move through content quickly if they cheat by getting someone else to explain everything to them. Where's the accomplishment there? There is none. The best you can say is that you're good at following directions. Here's a cookie, 'vet.'Quote:
I'll look up the youtube video. It's called being resourceful.
You do realize that looking for an exact explanation of exactly what to do is essentially cheating the content, right? The same content you complain about not having enough of? Maybe if you didn't cheat, you wouldn't run out of content as fast.
I've skipped no quest text at all. Not even levequest text. I even run around to listen to all the word-bubbles that the NPCs put out, many of which are quite entertaining.Quote:
BTW, I watched every long-ass cutscene. Also, get off your high-casual horse. Don't tell me you didn't skip some quest texts.
Why are you playing the game, if not to actually look at what the game has to offer?
I just don't get kids today
I believe just because someone's opinion differ yours, does not make them wrong.
You think there's alot to do, but I don't. That doesn't make no one wrong, we just have different opinions about how the game is.
Because lately, the moment someone has something to say about this game, people usually get really rude generic posts.
I went at this game at a pretty slow pace. I have no real interests in any other job but DRG, but tell me how it is fun to
FATE grind your way there? I have to shout and wait hours for party. I can't stomach it, sorry.
My last few cents...some of you guys need to stop jumping on people who seriously does not agree with everything you say.
I feel like the game doesn't have much for us to do, outside crafting and fighting. That's just me though, but of course I'm wrong because as I said anything less of a praise of this game you're off to the stake.
I just can't wait for housing and other stuff. That'll keep me busy at least. :)
Why are people not allowed to voice their discontent? If you are happy on a certain day does than mean no one else has a right to sadness? I am truly glad for the people who stop and smell the roses. I have my blm 50 and it's the only class i want to play. I have tried some others (and no for me their story lines didn't compel me to fate grind or dungeon them higher). So now i am a derping kid who doesn't appreciate content? I envy those with alts who are loving it but leveling those other chars i don't like to play is not what i am paying for.
But this isn't even about me or u, we all know people have different opinions. This is about the respect we need to give each other to voice it. How does trolling or derision help the op or anyone who feels that way.
Kids, old people, casuals, hardcore: Try empathy it's what we all lack these days.
I'm an mmo vet and I skipped all the quest text, nothing wrong with that. However, having to look up how to beat a quest or encounter is pretty weak, especially in this game. Nothing this game throws at us is new and you should be able to figure out how to solve or beat any encounter with ease.
To be clear, there's nothing wrong with this per se; only in doing so and then complaining there's 'no content.' Quest text IS content, people put hard work into it, it's interesting and well done in this game, so why not actually read it, if you're looking for more content?
(not directed towards you personally, btw, but instead just a comment aimed towards the Perpetual Complaint crowd)
Leveling isn't content - Biggest misconception. The Content you get while leveling you do with your first main, those dungeons are one time use in the grand scheme of "how much content" exists. Class Quests are a means to an end to get abilities (otherwise most will forget they exist.)
The problem is that people use one-sided hyperbole to make their problem seem much worse than it is.
In this case, and as I pointed out in my first reply, the OP laid down a blanket statement (again, never a good idea) stating that anyone with 5+ hours a week to put into this game has completed everything this game has to offer.
Then the argument broke down to
"you haven't gotten everything to 50, so you haven't even done everything"
"not everyone likes to do all that stuff"
"just because you don't like it doesn't mean it isn't content"
After that it got fuzzy because those last two points are both perfectly valid and true points, because it just boils down to personal opinions. But it all stems from the blanket statement that suggested that everything the OP considers to be "valid" content is the ONLY "valid" content in the game, in order to make this seem like a horrible, all-encompassing problem for everyone and that it's just an absolute abomination and a travesty on SE's part.
XI also took much longer to level up, and by the time you had all the classes you needed leveled, more content had been added. Also XI was released state-side at the same time as the first full expansion. We haven't had an expansion yet, 2.1 isn't an expansion either.
Hydra - Red cone behind? Dodge.
Hydra - Red cone in front? Dodge.
Hydra - Circular AoE within a distance? Unless you're new to how SE does dragon fights in their 3D games, you'll k now it's all within a certain distance.
Hydra - Fear? Run in as it's a ranged away from the mob.
Hydra - Pops adds? Well I guess you never killed adds in a fight prior to Hydra before.
Honestly, Hydra's mechanics are...nothing new MMO wise or in XIV itself. By that point you've fought bosses with similar mechanics (Hi Brayflox, Stone Vigil and primals (unless you jumped into relic before doing primals)) People that wipe to hydra usually wipe because of Fear or getting hit with absolutely everything it throws at you.
But in all honesty...given XIV's design and Yoshi stance of "casual gameplay", content won't last long unless you absolutely don't play this game at any kind of steady pace lol. Especially if they make it a habbit of releasing pushed back content. For example what if Content for 2.2 gets pushed back to 2.3? A lot of MMOs don't have the benefit of being able to say "whoops sorry, no content now check back in 6 months!"
Gearing out every job takes a heck of a lot longer than gearing one. Eventually I hope to have every job that I play (which is currently 5 of them) geared with relic +1s and AF2 (or AF3 once that's out). I won't be done with the current content until I've completed that.
Once again a huge blow out and argument over the misunderstanding of the semantics used.
OP said: Does SE not realise their game has no content?
Blatant falsehoods are in this Thread Subject. Thats all some people were pointing out. They were just saying there IS content. Not a word was said to the effect that it was "good" content, "fun" content, or even "optimal" content, just that there was content.
Sayura_ I understand you dont find all the content in the game to be something you enjoy, I can accept that. But there is content there and more is coming. Whether or not its content that interests you or not, it is coming and it is there right now.
Remember folks, its a game and games are meant to be fun. Once its not fun anymore, you should find something else to do. Getting this upset over a game is rather silly.
I never said I know the "truth". But what is the "truth" is that there are other "means" for Leveling up. It's just not "FATE" fast. I got my First 50 Dungeon/Levequest/Hunting Log style. I never touched FATEs ( Outside the Lightning FATE because I want that gear).
That's the only "Truth" I claimed, and it is a fact. In 2.1 it will be even more of a fact to use Dungeons.
As to your post:
"The game only lacks if the person in question can't find the content enjoyable" Others will find content people hate enjoyable. It all depends on the person.
The game does need more content, that's for sure. For a launch, there is plenty to do. It's just that some people don't find some content enjoyable. ( Which is different)
(Amount of content in the game Vs Content X player enjoys.)
I'll take that as a compliment :P
I think for some people, it can feel like content has dried up once the main storyline has been resolved (or at least resolved for now). While you were still doing the main plot, things seemed fresh and there still felt like the promise of a lot more in store. But once you're done with Praetorium and all the cutscene goodness is over, the remainder feels much more hollow by comparison. Yes, there are indeed class storylines and most people go right into leveling another class, but it never feels as fleshed out or as compelling as the main storyline quests did... class/job quests for the most part are like shadows of those quests; they're a lot more few and far-between as well.
Taking that into consideration, it's easy to see how content would be viewed as being non-existent in endgame... People were given a multiple-course feast, and then when that's over there's only scarce leftovers to tide you over til the next big meal.
I still really hate you Star. :<

Content is literally EVERYTHING in the game. The environment, the mobs, the mob mechanics, the quests, the classes, the spells/abilities, the story, etc. I really don't understand why that's not a concept that people understand. Oh wait, you're talking about what you selectively call "content", not what it literally is. Okay.
People need to use their words to be a little more accurate about what they're trying to say. This is why arguments occur. The person you quoted is literally right in what is being said, it's just you (and some others) are applying a subjective (and selective) definition to it. If you want to talk about a lack of raid content, say "raid content". Easy!
So you have completed all 9 of the unique job story quests that continue on from Lv.30-50? You know why Jahantel doesn't fight anymore? Or why you are allowed to be a paladin or who betrayed their order? Or any of the other CONTENT from every unique job story line I don't even know about because I haven't completed them? I am amazed that you have completed all of that. Not to mention every story line for the crafting classes. My mind is boggled.
noticed many threads pretty much stating things they don't like or even hate with a passion about this game.. some of them are mature others just seem a bit close to raging and even threaten to quit the game /or already had if those things don't change.
to be honest I agree with some, but i wouldn't let them get to me that much or stop me from trying to enjoy this game in every little way possible..(specially there aren't many good games of this genera these days)and thats for many reasons will try to list a few of them:
1- No game is perfect.. reason? ppl have different tastes & preferences.. what you think is great addition to the game trust me someone else will think its the worst idea ever.. we are just impossible to be fully pleased not just in games but almost in everything else ^^
2- Its still new so its too soon to love or hate anything period cuz things will eventually changed A LOT. Judging the game at this stage & saying its bad is like reading the first pages of an unfinished book and going ITS HORRIBLE! wont read the rest! or going its the best book ever! (not best example but you get the point).
3- It's not perfect but its not bad either! im sure you've tried other games that you couldnt even go past level 10 cuz it was THAT boring... im not gonna mention names but i played some of those & trust me couldnt even reach level 20... so seeing a game like FFXIV which has A LOT of potential of becoming a great game is like a breeze of fresh air to me
Sorry for the wall of words >_< but couldnt help it cuz it makes me sad to see people judging this game so early which hasnt been out for long... so felt like getting this out of my mind. So i wish that they will be a little patient (specially the tanks dont go we wuv u! @_@) and if u find something you dont like just think not just now but in the future of the potential of this game and what might be added im sure you will think it will be worth it seeing it all the way through ^^
So hope this will make at least 1 person think again and try to enjoy what we have at the moment and wait for the great changes in the future ^^
ok me stop typing now
You know it's sad when you're saying the game has so much content, but you're sitting here looking up someones lodestone profile just to try and deface their argument. Someone has a different opinion than you, shocker. But there's no reason to take it far enough where it's bordering on a personal insult.
I have 2 battle 50's, 1 50 DoL, and random low level DoHs. I personally see no reason at all to level anything else. Do I think this game has little content? Yes. Are you really trying to force the idea of 5 minute job/class quests down peoples throats as content? I'm sorry, did they add new zones/dungeons specific for those non-50 classes that I wasn't aware of?
Forum posters coming up with "you have not leveled every class to 50" are making assumption that "the achiever" playstyle is the only playstyle in games.
no, they aren't throttling you with class/job quest, they are absolutely voluntary. that is you feeling obligated to do them. (in fact i have seen players with a level 50 class and haven't progressed quest wise since the unlock quest)
and have you even considered bringing any of those low-leveled DOW/DOM into dungeons? you don't have to fate grind everything to 50 because it is the "quickest" way.
so much obligation to fast-fast track crap. at least leveling lower classes the non-fate way is a good change of pace from the mindless tome grind.
