Market board - forced to buy an item on the board while not at the market board

It is not limited to Limsa.
Just because the Crystal is near the Market Board in Limsa, and ppl will easily get close enough to the Market Board.

I think the actual distance of using the Market Board is much greater than a normal "right click & use".

To be safe, store your gil in your retainers in the INN.

Is this Maplestory? or some other terrible F2P game? I feel the security is lacking pretty heavily here and this is a major issue >_> I'm curious if roll backs will be issued.

Seems limsa/uldah got hit mostly, i was afk for 2 hrs in Gridania and nothing happened to me but i did spread the word but sadly a few FC/LS mates got hit but all were in limsa=/

First thing I thought of too.

Maplestory was the last game I remember that had such ridiculous security flaws such as simply changing the unencrypted player ID packets and being able to trade hack, whisper dc, hijack hack amongst other things.

Lots of luck getting Square to do anything I have been waiting 2 weeks since they finally acknowledged an set of issues I have and nothing done yet.. Still waiting *sigh

Damn wile I feel sorry for the players who lost a lot of gil I somewhat could see this type of thing coming a mile away . For 3 weeks I have reported the same bot farming Banemites . For 3 weeks I have sent report after report after report . And sill the Bot is there killing Banemites . I reported how odd it was the the Banemites drop Dew webs and on the MB there is a retainer called Craftinghoe who is selling 18 stacks of 99 and 2 stacks of HQ . Only someone who has nothing to do for a whole day can get that many webs or there a Bot . Also all the RMT spam that never goes away . the /tells all day by different RMTs . People getting hacked . Its really sad . And can be stopped easy.

I'm curious, all the ppl who lost gil, do they use security tokens? I was asked about that and I figured I'd ask here and see.

Good luck getting Square to replace these funds.. I hope they do for you all.. it sucks it really does to lose so much money.. I lost what I thought was a lot of money - for me anyway considering it was all I had in total over 3 different times combines 500,000 gil and so far nothing has been done.. it wasnt do an incident like this i am pretty sure.. it was due to an issue of game back up data when the game went into maintenance

Im kinda happy I dont have time to play til tomorow now I know this is happening. Not that a have a lot of Gil anyway, but still its taken me two months to get where I am and I dont think I could re-invest the time progressing again.

At least one of them uses the SE token app on iOS (My friend who lost 12mil gil on Tonberry).

Square may get a fix done but It will come back just like the RMT spams tells/shouts that SE claims it cant stop but just report. My blacklist is full so only option now to not be constantly getting spammed was to turn off say/tell/shout which means SE will get less reports thinking they have solved the problem. And now the RMT and other malicous players just start taking our money. WOW I feel so SAFE now. I was on the edge already having people tell me to turn on /tells in FC etc. But, now we cant even go to town.

SE just brought down the servers to "fix" this problem.

People are getting forced to buy things when they're close enough to the market board. It's yet another packet exploit and a lack of security server side.
Nothing to do with bots or cheating, lots of people are getting affected.

How many of the affected people used a third party app?
It may as well be a timed bomb that started working to steal everything you gained from botfarming.

That's all well and good . But there needs to be a HUGE crack down on Bots and RMTs . SE is letting things go on far to long . And Blisting is not a option its a cover

Well this sure sucks, I'm glad I'm currently rather poor, and I really hope you all get your gil back. The "Dsgf" kind of names show up every day via rmt tells, I keep blacklisting them and half an hour later I get a new tell from a new character with a similar name. As for reporting rmts - I did that once when I found myself crafting right next to a level 1 character spam shouting in Ul'dah, hoping to see him poof on my screen within a fairly short time. Boy was I wrong, 24 hours later the same character was STILL there. There's a severe lack of efficiency on SE's behalf when it comes to following up rmt reports.

SE should just start blocking regions where this behavior comes from. Maybe not realistic, but maybe it is a final solution to end this nonsense.

If they were able to spoof you buying the item, and everyone's gil on retainers... I hope the devs make sure they can't spoof to summon "your" retainer to get direct access to your items there.

How do you know they didn't do anything? It may be entirely possible that using third party programs and bots are the caused for this. This game is so easy to bot and the bots are so easily accessible, I wouldn't be surprised if half of the population were botting.

I don't mind the RMT shouting, you'd have to be a whiny little 5 year old if you let it bother you that much. However, the botting and hacking in this game is ridiculous, they need to be fix asap. I have never seen another major MMO that was this easy to hack besides Vindictus, and that was cuz that game was all client-side.

If this only affects people using 3rd party programs, I doubt SE would shut down servers an hour earlier than planned, confirming that there's a security issue with the marketboard and saying they will take legal actions against the exploiters.

They stopped the server to avoid further issues and investigate. I don't think they had the time to do it yet.

InB4 someone mentions that there were not many reports of this, remember statistically speaking that this only affected people near enough to a market board to get hit AND had more than 1M on their person. It is the mass majority of the people reading this forum, but probably not more than a quarter of the affected server population.

This might be what happend to me 100k that went missing when i teleported to Limsa Lominsa around noonish (PDT) i had just teleported from Mor Dhona with 100k+ and was leveling bsm so i went back to Limsa to get a leve went to my retainer and i noticed when i pressed start (ps3 version) it said i had 18k i thought the game had bugged me and took 100k teleport fee (one very expensive teleport i tell ya) i didnt think it could have been this ill have to check my history when the game is back up if thats still there

I'm a bit worried now too...I don't exactly have that much gil but I'm wondering if I had some gil taken from me. Only like 50k or so but...I'm not sure if I actually spent that gil and I'm just getting paranoid or if perhaps it was taken. Like Bloodraven said, I too am going to have to check my history. My condolences to those who lost millions...that is not fun at all. Makes me kind of happy I'm a poor person atm

well thank god i spent all my money gearing and powerlevelling my WVR up to 50 last night. only had about 400k in the bank when it went down. i didn't seen any reports of it happening in Lamia. i was sitting in Limsa right at the bell when it went down and nothing was going on in chat, that i noticed.

also: where can you check the history of things you've purchased? i know how to check the retainers for sales but i've never seen a purchase log.

I was sitting around crafting stuff when I went to take a drink. I guess my character was done crafting and that's when IT happened! I'm short of exactly 500k worth of gil! What should I do now?
