The reason why FFXI is having a second server merge is because they ruined everything that game was and the people who truly like that game quit and could not stand what the game became. Its not because it was a niche to begin with, it was because SE didn't know enough about their playerbase. Also the way FFXI is going they're operating costs are low and it is the only cash cow they have, you should do some research, the only reason why FFXI isn't going F2P is because FFXIV failed and people went back to FFXI. they had 12bn yen loss, most of it due to FFXIV and canceled titles, not FFXI, read there effing financial statement, they're a public company they have to publish it every year. be informed and don't make ignorant post about crap you obviously know nothing about.

FFXI has long since payed off its development costs and has been a source of revenue for years, merging servers doesn't mean its losing them money....... it means that they are not making as much money, but the cost of keeping servers and minor content expansions are WAY below what they take in on subscriptions. They couldn't shut down ffxi right now because its still a source of profits, so please go read the recent financial statements and ACTUALLY read where the losses came from. The majority of the losses last year were from xiv and canceled titles that were in later development stages.

2 this topic is a SE look at everyone suggestion over again and ask youself "how many people will play if this gets added" topic :)

They aren't taking the freedom out of the armory system, we will have classes(what we have now) that will always be able to be cross classed and easily switch between classes with the weapon. We will also have a job system, these will be unique and great for party play. Can't wait. And the OP is nonsense move on nothing to see here lol

Adding stuff isn't necessary. I've played games without stuff and they were just fine so no reason to add stuff. Wouldnt bring much to the game. This isn't WoW.

They were 2 seperate comments. ffxi is a party based game less players means longer wait times, means less fun. Also SE is losing money ingeneral. And ffxi isn't making them much money. If ffxi had a WoW size player base they would be making more money then losing.

12 bn yen loss on FFXIV being active and haing servers plus they canceled many of their titles equaled I believe 6% of their losses or so, so not most, but a huge chunk was xiv and canceled titles. When you think about game development, thats fine, but when you think about up keeping the mmo, that cost a lot. Okay, let's add jump. I want the option to turn jumping animations off.

I'd also like to see an option so that when I put someone on my ignore list, they won't even appear on my screen nor be able to send any data my way. I don't want my network's elite bandwidth wasted by someone I've ignored.

They arent taking freedom out. You dont have to use a job if you dont want to. You'll still be able to mix the basic class skills together, just not if you choose to pursue a job. And they are still going to balance the class skills prior to job implementation, as well as continue said balancing afterwards.

Kilta, I agree, there should always be room for more content. I have played 3 very different MMO's (Final Fantasy XI, Lord of the rings Online and Phantasy star online) and there are things from all 3 I would love to see in XIV. But I think at the moment things are still being mended and it is quite clear to me XIV was rushed to market by someone above Hiromichi Tanaka who didn't care if it was finished and thought the name on the game was enough. Content will come, it is hard to say when.

Accomplishing a mission in 30 mins to an hour is also not fun in my opinion (the ffxiv way). I'm not raging in caps on the forums.

Hi RAUUU!!

I also mentioned earlier that there should be rare dyes for armors. Like, NMs can drop more specific colors for the different tier of fabrics.

You could be one of the few people with Purple Canvas Hats/Robes/etc.

That would be great. Its custom, and gives people a goal to work towards.
