That's a really bad idea, just sayin'
Vesperia, you don't have any thumbs up on your original post... ; - ; I feel sorry that you feel so strongly about this topic, but...I can't say I see anyone on board with this idea.
Bunch of people standing in the street with blank expressions, seems kinda creepy to me...
Laggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg no ty
Because they are too afraid that SE will implement it badly. SE doesn't exactly have a glowing track record with these things.
People say "it will make lag" or "NPCs will stand there with no expressions"
Two things that aren't necessary byproducts of the feature. People just have no faith in SE, they think SE can't pull this off, even though Ragnorak Online, TERA, and Mabinogi have this.
Poor SE, no one believes in you.
If you don't believe in this idea, by extension, you don't believe in SE.
What we have now is a real market ward? A separate section from everything else just for selling stuff...
Why? Because this "alive" feeling would be false since NONE OF THE RETAINERS MOVE. Not to mention the horrible lag it would cause, especially in Ul'dah, the lack of space, and the problems with the targeting system.
Sorry but sometimes you have to admit your idea is bad.
Just because you cannot solve minor problems with a feature doesn't mean its bad.
I dont know about you but ive never been to a marketplace and then been teleported into a narrow corridor and told to shop. That's not a markert ward. That claustrophobic and boring and stupid.
Bring it to the streets.
Ignore my post because you cannot refute it. As usual.
do you know how random and chaotic it was to find crap in that game with so many shops around covering the streets!.....
The wards is a good solution to a problem, it gives a controlled placed for shops to be, in a searchable environment.
"Bring it to the streets" will only cause more lag in cities, and make it harder to find stuff.
You keep saying "minor issues".....you have no clue what it would take (and the fact that it could not really be done) to get lag to "go away" if you brought shops to the streets.
You are too desperate. You cannot make statements like this and expect it to be true. =p I don't believe in this idea because:
1) I don't want them in the streets.
2) I like market wards and I feel they need adjustments, not a completely new system.
3) It would be way harder to find things with retainers just strewn around everywhere.
I believe that SE has the power to make and do whatever they truly want their vision of this game to be. Not your vision or mine.
.....oh for the love of god......
you can not have a search function in an open city like that, it is why wards can do it easily as it is separate from the city, and you can not just magically fix lag, there are so many things involved, especially if you are wanting to place so many NPC shops in the city streets.
your idea can not be done as easily as you say/want it to be. and the unnecessary clutter in the streets is just a bad idea.
Ppssssst it's a troll.
Im not a troll, I just think an instanced market ward is stupid - might as well have an auction house.
Give us a real market ward (where positioning your stall in town matters). Give us a dynamic economy, not an instanced one. Instances are stupid. Ruins my immersion.
I played a crafter because i wanted to actually PLAY as a crafter. The market wards in the game atm simplify the crafting experience and make it stupid and unsophisticated. There is no place for things like that in FFXIV.
Give me a true, non instanced market system.
I hope they'll do it
and retainers should be able to walk randomly like FF12 Rabanastre street :D
and if they can hop around the town... LOL
I will have fun in my own little world. But eventually there will be a world merger due to low population because SE didn't implement these interesting features im suggesting. And then i will be in your world so watch out!
A non instanced market ward system is possible because TERA, Ragnarok Online, and Mabinogi have shown they are possible. Heaven forbid SE stop using ten year old server technology salvaged from FFXI!
People who dont want this feature are not true SE fans because they think SE incapable of releasing this feature in a way that works. Only a SE hater would say SE cannot implement a TRUE market ward system.
I beleive they can.
Vesperia, I'm surprised you still haven't learned how to troll better.
STOP ASKING FOR THINGS WE DON'T NEED MORE THINGS THEY ARE BUSY WITH IMPLEMENTING AUTOATTACK!
Nice that you try to speak for everyone while solely thinking of your own assbackwards idiotations. The market wards are great they function better than an AH, easier to use than an AH , provide less lag than an AH and help fight price fixing RMTing w/ the ability too see all vendors and they're exact asking price. Get a 400$ computer instead of the comodore64 you must be playing on if you have such harsh lag loading problems. It takes all of 2secs loading time on my crap 380$ pc to change zones. It took longer on ff11 for the damn AH list to fully load between catagories for me and i did'nt have an ADD-fit. Only arguable thing the economy needs is a damn delivery box/mail system.
Nobody asked for a comparison to an AH nor FFXI's AH specifically.
TERA, Ragnorak Online, and Mabinogi all have non-instanced market systems, why can't SE implement something like that? Why do they always take the easy and cheapest route?
instanced market wards are just an excuse to use cheap servers which crash every 24 minutes.
In case you hadn't noticed, Square Enix were trying to make crafting an actual class with its own style of progression. Do you really think the instanced market wards which are basically just an inconvenient AH give crafters what SE originalyl envisioned? The answer is no.
SE made FFXIV this way, so they might as well do it properly (i.e. with non instanced market wards).
And if you think it's infeasible, there are a million examples where it is feasible, hence my example in the previous post which you used as a jumping platform to insult my FF-loyalty.
You are the one with no FF loyalty.
I vote no because I used to play Battles of Immortals and that doesnt have an AH you setup a bazaar when you want to sell only instead of your character stood there you turn into a giant fking stall (similar to Aions but worse) That game uses "Channels" and the first 3 the main city was jam-packed full of stalls, it was very stupid. XIV doesnt have stalls and will be worse. It would look silly with loads of characters just standing around like animated statues.
Also the wards go down enough as it is, I dont want Uldah crashing every hour.
They get paid to fix issues like that, they dont get paid to sweep every thing under the rug into a little instance and declare the problem solved.
Remember how it was when FFXIV was first released?
Keep 'em where they're at...
Although having stalls on the streets....
Wait... I'm the one with no loyalty and yet you are screaming for them to change to your whims? How is that very final fantasy like? You are not supporting them with their decisions, you instead tell them how they should 'do things.' You tell us they are half-hearted in their actions. You claim every person that disagrees with you to be unloyal....but to who?
Just you. I'm sorry that not everyone is on your side, but there is a reason for that.
You wouldn't understand anyway.
SQUARE ENIX wanted to make a robust selling system, but they were too cheap to bring in the high quality servers needed to make an economic system like Ragnorak Online and Mabinogi and TERA, hence why we have instanced market wards.
Why you think SE can't do better than instanced market wards is beyond me.
But i guess that's your perogative.
I can get 7 items from the MW at the same time frame as 7 items from WoW/ Aion or ffxi AH. not lying either. You guys are wussies. You play mmo but didn't want to play an mmo...... silly people did you know that people talked and bargined in mmo's? It isn't hard to do.
SE just do a proper AH please and stop this nonsense. I have nothing against Rolanberry fields but I'll never ever buy anything from a system like that.
I just don't like clutter and would much rather prefer there being a designated area to help simply things. The idea of them being scattered around town would become a nuisance as well, considering I'd have to run from one end of town to the other. Here I thought zoning into each different ward was bad enough, but the idea that was brought up makes me appreciate the system we have right now so much more.
Vesp's threads are always hilarious. S/he'll defend his/her stupid ideas to the last, despite a vast majority disagreeing.
