I would want to be blacklisted by the mouthbreathers that used to hurl their abuse at anyone who looked at the lambs funny if i'm honest, would save me the trouble of adding them to mine.

It's silly to not do DD even now, completing it gives ample experience to make it worth doing. People just got spoiled by the bonus EXP from farming the mobs.
I'm happy SE fixed it, less toxicity and abuse :)
The two sides are trolls (and people that hate leveling efficiently) and people leveling up, I'd rather blist the trolls and not have any drama so I don't see what is tearing everyone apart other than misguided nerdrage because other people hit level 50 without being "hardcore" about it. I consider myself a hardcore gamer in general, and take no offense to other people hitting level 50 in a casual geared MMO.
The problem was that both sides have the right of way, and the rage was ridiculous while being the majority. Especially with those new to the fate and go do the objective, and is suddenly blacklisted by half the community and getting death threats among other vile things said to them. It was extremely common and needed to stop. All DD provided was a festering pool of hate.
It's still easy to level to 50 without mob farming them anyways.
That's a bunch of bologna, as someone who has spent the majority of their time in FFXIV around the ceruleum processing plant, I can promise you that what you just described is an extreme minority event, probably happened at less than .005% of the DDs on Goblin. People tend to speak pretty clearly about what to and not to do during these FATES, especially at prime hours when a bunch of new people would be there. Ignorance to the chat log isn't a good excuse. If you messed up a mechanic in a dungeon because you didn't listen to your tank before a fight you didn't know about, you'd probably find yourself being criticized at the least, and a lot of players would just leave the duty even. That is the game we play. The people on these forums are huge drama advocates and made it seem like every DD was a cussing match, I'm sure, but that is people on the internet for ya.
You realize some people turn off their shouts because of spam? Also, even if the person was told not to kill lambs, he has full right to. Why? Because that's the game we play. Just like people have the right to farm. And believe me, at least on my server, it is NOT a minority event. People foam at the mouth over it.
And you think people who foam at the mouth over other people's bad etiquette (putting their selfish killing of the lambs over an entire zone worth of people trying to level, and wasting HOURS of their lives because this selfish act) are going to change their demeanor and suddenly be BFF with the troll players? No. They will just fight in duties instead, because selfish people will always be selfish, and they will always get called out on it.
The vicious cycle? It was already quelled on my server once all the trolls were blacklisted. People weren't just killing lambs, everyone there knew better. I can see the first 2 weeks of the game it being an issue, but it got to the point where it was an understood concept of the late game, sort of like how paladins should shield bash ifrit's eruptions.
I'm sorry but no. It should have NEVER been like that. You people are disgusting with how you react over a game's mechanic being used because you couldn't get your precious easy EXP like your dog has been shot. It's utterly pathetic. To me, the nerf was the only answer and the QQ by the spoiled players brings me much joy.
See we were having a civil conversation, and then you turned it ugly. Your true colors showed, and like I said about it earlier, you're the type who was just mad about people getting that fast xp. To me, the issue is time, not xp. If you work fulltime and only have 2 hours a night to get on the game and you spend that time fating waiting for DD and someone kills the lambs, they just took away a lot of your time and ruined your night. It would take hours to make up that lost xp from other fates, hours a lot of people don't have to spare as easily as you. I agree that leveling to 50 is still relatively easy, but ruining someone's time is a serious offense.
They key word here is abuse. No matter what the game allows or makes inconvenient via gameplay and exp gain, it is never ok to be abusive or rude or harassing to other players. No matter who started out on the right or in the wrong, the moment the above comes in to play that party loses ground, things get nerfed, people get banned, feelings get hurt.
eh that rhymed.. :D
Actually no, I didn't care at all about people getting the EXP. I would've actually done it myself had I the chance. My problem is your pitiful reactions, in which you FEED the "trolls", or abuse the innocent that didn't know better and were just doing what they were supposed to do. "Serious offense"? You're the prime example of people taking it too seriously if you consider simply using the game's mechanics as a serious offense. Get out more.
Get out more? Feeding trolls? I said I blist people without saying anything after the fact to avoid drama on my server, and only have a few hours at a time to play. Your arguments are nonsensical and totally self serving. The most harassment I have seen in this game is to players like myself being called "elitist" and publicly shamed for wanting to be efficient, and people saying we are abusive for ignoring people. Pot calling the kettle black over here.
I'm on your sever and I don't see this problem at all. I just leveled monk to 50 this weekend from 40 in Northern thanalan and there was tons of people at both fates that you mentioned and being completed in quick time.
I'M self-serving? Holy shit you're misguided lol. And no, it's the general populace doing what they do. Your actions alone don't change anything with what the majority are doing. Everybody bitching about not being able to get the extra EXP for their own convenience is also self-serving. The hypocrisy is making me dizzy. Stop being so blind, and realize your server isn't the only existing community in the game. What may happen on your server is NOT absolute. People grinding for the EXP are just as "self-serving" as those ending the fate.
I have nothing more to say, because you only want what's best for your own character's progression, and not the state the community is in. It seems you couldn't care less.
I get a good chuckle from the people STILL defending the terrible mechanics for leves like DD.
It's been nerfed dry your tears and find something else to abuse.
This is sad. I'm on your server and am soon going to be heading to that area with my Bard. All this because the few spoilt it for the many.
This still happens though. It's not as if all fates are gone and no one's making fate parties anymore. One area may have died down a bit, but that isn't going to stop most players from fate grinding as it's still the best way to get exp vs. dungeons. I did Dark Devices ONCE. I did a lot of other fates to get to 50.
I've seen those kinds of /sh. I doubt it, but I hope they also end up on peoples /blist. Not just the people who you can tell were intentionally trying to wind people up.
Running quite a few parties there have been quite a few times that I've had to explain to members why people didn't like the lambs being killed. They honestly did not know and may have ended up being on the receiving end had they carried on in ignorance. Though at the same time I've seen people post "lolol I'm only doing it to wind you all up". These people didn't care about whether or not the fate was an unintentional bug, they just wanted to cause trouble, and that is who SE have pandered to.
Well my friend told me that mor dhana was a good place to do fates. I go there today there are so many people that fates with a 15 minute timer to complete are done within 30 seconds. Impossible for alot of us casters who dont have tons of AOEs, to reach gold. I simply got bronze + silver 90% of the time.
Dark devices fates were the worst as the bosses + stuff burn so quickly and after the nerf it made it completely NOT worth it. Maybe ill have to just play at 5am my time so there wont be as many people. IDk what to do really besides fates because the dungeons as a dps when queueing take hours to pop.
Not a good feeling being 45 and not knowing what to do after 1-45 was fun + great.
Not going to lie here. When I was leveling up my second class and people were screaming in /sh "get in the ****ing middle you ****ing ******s" and "omfg these guys ****ing suck at this FATE" and such, even though I wasn't part of the problem, a particular AoE-heavy group complaining about mobs not being in a perfect cluster for them to AoE and potentially prevent most other groups there from getting exp due to them not being able to deal enough damage from the AoE group's damage if they missed the claim... Well, that really rubbed me the wrong way. I was really tempted to go kill the lambs just to dole out some humility, but I stopped myself. People in online games are really the worst at social skills.
