Do you guys think there should/will be a time limit? For those unaware of what I am talking about, in previous FFs you could only ride a chocobo for a certain time before it would kick you off basically. Also, how frequent will they be in location? Perhaps at quest hubs and towns?

i loved my chocobo in 11 please give me one back, to raise, ride and love, but can i have diff from just yellow please maybe fkecks diff colour in be nice... i also miss my npc pal like mad as i soloed loads, but solo sucks on this.... can i have her back to lol
I liked the idea in FFXI of training your raised chocobo to excel in certain traits ie., Speed, Endurance, Digging, etc., but the actual training as implemented stunk like choco-doodoo.
Since Yoshi is thinking of several things you could do with your chocobo maybe he can implement a better stat raising system.
1. Calling a personal chocobo: Train your choco to increase usage ie., more areas allowed and more "calls" allowed.
2. Riding a personal chocobo: Train your choco to increase maximum riding time (endurance) and speed.
3. Walking alongside a personal chocobo: Train your choco to carry items like a pack mule (expandable) and learn to "Dig" for treasure and possibly alert you to dangers/NMs in the area (but not rideable if over max weight)
4. Raising and dressing up a personal chocobo: Train choco for merchant use or military use and associated gears (each path has it own benefits and drawbacks).
5. Fighting along with a personal chocobo: If choco is Military Trained you can ride it in battle. If it is Merchant Trained, choco will perform simple peck attacks to assist you.
Lots of great ideas on this thread. Let's hope they implement some of them...eventually.
I like the idea of specific mounts for jobs. I wonder if they could implement both ideas. They could have regular chocos for any class, but specific mounts for specific jobs. The reason I'm so interested in this is because it allows the possibility of one of my dream jobs in FFXI Wings of the Goddess which never came to fruition which was the Chocobo Knight. My idea was that the job would act as a "pet style" job that would "call" his pet which would be a mount and then would participate in battle atop their mount. The job would use a spear type weapon and the player would attack from his mount. The player would also be given a pet equipment slot(s) to place choco armor like a breast plate or helmet.
I just hope that we get a lifetime item to call chocobos that we raise. I hated that stupid whistle with charges in 11, and the fact that the majority of them were barely faster than running.
Also, if the system is going to be designed to have to wear the item to call your chocobo, please look into adding a special attachment slot for this, so that we don't have to equip and unequip it in normal gear slots.
I fully endorse this post completely. I stated in another post previously that I wanted Choco raising, renting, and racing. The 3 R's if you will! If they were able to implement the things you stated in your post the game would be glorified rather than scorned by a good deal of players. Mounts are as much a part of MMOs as Chocobos are a part of Final Fantasy, and although I know these ideas are all somewhat inspired by FFXI I think they seem much more refined and player friendly. I feel as though Chocobos are almost half of final fantasy, so having so many chocobo centered activities would really bring the game to life.

Fantastic thread that needs bumping. Especially in light of Yoshida-san bringing up the topic of raising your own Chocobos in your personal Garden (from his lengthy Gathering Post today). :)
Hopefully he implements some of these great ideas here!
