Yes. Which is for the purpose of rewatching. While many don't give a flying... about custcenes and story (the whole skipalltextyouarewastingmypreciousgrindtime-crowd), there are others who want to enjoy the story. Making them skip on the first time creates a disjointed experience, so SE really should just not allow to skip the cutscenes the first time you view them.
But at this point in the ARR lifecycle, almost all players have completed the story long ago. These same players are now condemned to endless hours/weeks/months of grinding for end-game gear. Why would we want to do anything but speedrun on dungeons that are meant to be run only for the tomes.
Nice, they made a tedious grindfest, even more of an unbearable grindfest.
AK, WP, CM are all 100 WP now. A good group can clear WP as fast or faster than CM. WP's Trash is quite tankable in chunks, e.g. in AF2/DL you can grab 2 or 3 packs at once, Overpower spam them and aoe them down. And the giant tonberries... You just run from, easy dungeon. With Relic+1 dps 1st, 2nd, last boss are a joke.
I really don't care. The fact that now you can get 100 phil in AK made CM irrelevant.
CM is now for newcomers who want to sit around and watch 30 min cutscenes.
Has anyone tested to see if the mobs that are produced while the searchlights are on drop gil? If so we'll have a place where we can farm gil for purchasing end-game crafted items... CM Gil Parties like DD EXP Parties...
I am one of those condemned to the endless grind, yet I want the new players to have a good experience I had as well, simple as that. Besides, with the recent patch AK became even more optimal tome wise - I just made a few runs with roughly 30 minutes (that was not even a full relic party), that's about the same as CM, and you get mythology tomes as well. So we can leave CM as well as Praetorium to the new players now, I'd say.
From common sense, they changed it because people were skipping these "trash mobs" meaning they were not playing the game the way it was intended, meaning it is somewhat like a form of cheating.
1. act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, esp. in a game or examination
2. avoid (something undesirable) by luck or skill.
Synonyms for cheating: avoid, escape, evade, elude
So yes, it is a form of cheating by avoiding mobs that were never meant to be avoided.
Seems after these changes no one's really running this instance any more. Curious where everyone is at now. Going to guess Wanderer's Palace.
So, the only question I have: Are the douchebags gone from CM now?
Clearly is was a mistake to make the best source for farming phil tomes in two story dungeons. This has been a big point of contention. Now that WP and AK give 100 phil tomes, there is really no need for speed runners to do CM or Praetorium, and those playing the story can do so without harassment. This seems to have been the main point of this change. Besides, AK is faster simply because it doesn't have so many cut scenes to skip.
You can run blindfold through WP. Need not worry about ppl who can't use cannons and know nuts about using cannon and stun the big guy in CM
Honestly, I'm glad they did this. I have friends that wouldn't touch CM b/c they've heard of the rather insane "requirements" by their fellow players to skip c/s's, have full DL + relic, and to have prior experience. It was a change for the better :D
The fact that you could walk right behind guards (who where apparently completely devoid of any peripheral vision and also stone deaf) just looked a bit daft. Sure it can be a bit slower, but I'd rather have it a bit more realistic.
I haven't done CM but rushing through sleeping mobs along the way still works doesn't it?
I'm more tempted to kill the trash now anyhow since they drop gil, unless of course they only drop 1 gil
There is fantasy, and there is absurdness. Fantasy is people with wings, non-human races and magic. Absurdness is people walking on their tongues, speaking out of their behinds and guards watching their comrades getting turned into mincemeat because they're x meters, sorry, malms away. Or y malms to the side.
They drop around 50+-2 gil now.
I used to be able to sac pull all the way into the first floor boss room and still have majority HP pre patch (before they locked the door). Haven't tried it since then but last night I could barely reach the second group of Lambs. I might have been doing something different but what's the general strat for PLD now? I used sprint after the first iron giant and blew my defensive cool downs. 0.o
Edit: Didn't stun the giants, maybe that's why I was eating so much damage.
As long as cannons are not nerfed i'm happy. I run cm just for them :D.
I love how trash mobs drop gil now. Now we don't have to be poor from running endgame dungeons
So to sum up: all of you who raged at your fellow player for not skipping cutscenes, for completing the DD objectives, for not knowing the dungeon the first time they do it, etc, are responsible for these nerfs. Well, it was either that or a massban wave :D.
