Just a note OP... you're not supposed to be relying only on heals with a CD pop for Mountain Buster. You're supposed to Flash Titan just before he uses it. When he's blind, he misses you 90% of the time.

I do this, and I'd say it works about half of the time. But if you have a summoner or two spamming ruin2 between their DoTs, this can kinda ruin your morning. :P
Table flip shouldn't even be an issue if people know the rotation before hand. Virus/RoD, pre-cast adloquium from scholar, pop a cd if paladin...
So I'm in the Titan fight with my FC, and everything is going perfectly. I know his rotation like the back of my hand and I'm beasting it on the heals, esuna, stoneskin, tumults and everything else and feeling really damn good about it. I know plumes are coming so I casually start running in preparation to get out of the way when I suddenly hit auto-run....straight off the edge. Sad Face Clown
I got one Guy who was AFK Smoking, unfortunately I didnt read that and just pulled. The sad thing, he dodged better when he was afk as when he got back an actually "tried" to dodge things.
You guys are scaring me. I've yet to reach him on HM.
I pop flash on about all mountain busters, including the first. So i am well placed to tell you from first hand experience than flash is 90% chance to avoid stuff only in your dream. Hell, if that were true, it would be the main point warriors are bitching about, cause 90% avoid chance 21 sec (12 + 6 + 3) per minute would be OP as fuck.
It is closer to 20%, maybe 10%. Not even close to 40 to 60% as a couple of others have said. No reason not to pop it, but those of you acting like it's some sort of magic solution don't know what you are talking about. The feeling when you avoid mountain buster is great, but you just can't rely on it.
Aside from that, it's nice to hear i am not alone struggling with this fight :) Damn it can get so frustrating at times. Worst is, i get to phase 5 in about 75% of my groups (all are made by shouts, with gear check, asking for some experience -- if you have none you should use the duty finder the first couple of time anyway). 90% of the time, someone is dead within the first minute of P5, even when everything was running super smoothly until then.
I just threw out "like half of the time", but it definitely seems to miss more than 10% of the time when he's blinded. That's just from my experience. It's definitely not 90% of the time either.
And yeah, no one was saying, "Oh just pop flash and you're fine!" It's just something to help make things a little easier on the healers if he does, in fact, miss you with table flip. Healers should be keeping you topped off, cast adloquium right before MB hits, healer or mage can virus, bards can Rain of Death... Just don't know how MB is the big obstacle for any group on that fight unless people know absolutely nothing about the rotation.
What's funny about asking for a previous kill is that the fight is very different from different perspectives: What if I killed titan as a Close range DPS and now seek the kill as a healer, and it is my first time with this role in the fight? Am I gonna be more experienced than an healer on his 30th try with no previous kill?
As a DPS, in expample, Tumults are relaxing times, cause nothing you can/must do; on the other hand as a healer I am sure they are oh shit times.
really stupid attitude.
I don't know, healer actually has to anticipate tumult (by not anticipating at all and memorizing his pattern) and heal a bit ahead of time. That's probably the hardest thing in the whole fight. DPS can just fire away and walk around while standing in tumult like a bunch of knobs. There's a reason post heart that 4 people can take him down, it's cause everyone else but the healer and tank are worthless.
I was DFing this the other night mainly for fun and to see what kind of players I would meet.
1. About half the parties I was in, a healer was the first to die (early on). Re-attempt with the same people and it still happens repeatedly.
2. Over-healing. Tanks loses hate to a healer. Variable reasons/scenarios as to why this can happen.
3. Under-geared DPS. Secondly, ones who can't dodge decently.
4. Just a line I actually got tired of seeing. "When we get to the heart...(insert comment here)". None of the DF parties I was in reached the heart except one. lol
All in all, I enjoyed myself. I didn't rage at anyone. CM and AK grinds really took a toll on me, so I had wanted to do something else. @.@
I only tried the fight as Monk, but am sure you are wrong on this one, sorry. Whenever I know there is Tumult I relax, pull out combos and don't care of anything else. If I was to play that as a WHM, tumults would make me go: "Damn I must quickly heal everyone before Tumult and same after tumult before I get plumes underneath my feet".... I wouldn't be relaxed at all. Same goes with Titan jumps. On the other hand, as a healer or a ranged dps, I think, I would be more relaxed during Plumes since I would have a better view of the battlefield and know better where to move.
As a healer, plumes can be irritating >.> but best of Titan hm? I had a run too where the duty didn't even start and Titan was already smacking people in the circle, guess he was fed up too. At another attempt I was standing next to a landslide healing someone and wanted to run back right after it but ended up running in the other direction, right off the cliff...fail :D
1. Dragoon dies first, every time, on every separate attempt, even with different groups
2. Wipe before heart phase because dodging is hard
3. Wipe during heart phase because what is dps
4. Wipe during final phase because healers died trying to raise the dragoon
5. Let's not forget the c@ tank who didn't turn shield oath on and lost aggro to the healers, causing a wipe, then left
6. "why did i get hit i moved before the animation ended"
7. "what cast bar"
8. "ok guys we build limit this time and we'll win"
9. cliff diving before a wipe
10. full DL tank still can't hold aggro
The list never ends.
The only funny things I've seen so far were both in Ifrit HM. Our Warrior tank with level 1 accessories across the board (and horrible armor to top it off), surprisingly enough we all stuck around and tried it anyways! The other one was a Dragoon. Queue up the DF, get in there, 2 wars. Ok, perfect, the drg and war can alternate stun. Dragoon leaves the duty finder...all I could think of was him saying "f#$ this, I didn't sign up on drg to think about what I have to do!"
Been waiting in que for Titan over 10 minutes. The fight finally starts and then I see the tank. A maradeur, not even warrior. Dressed in lvl1 garlear stuff, pulling Titan instantly.
Apparently, people are so bored, they join DF groups just to piss people off.
And about the DRG hate.. I've been in countless Titan pugs and Dragoons always were the ones to survive to the end. I've never seen a DRG there that has been a problem. But there was always a healer, BLM, bard, or especially monk that went down in the first few phases. So please, stop the dragoon hate.
Hehe, I watched a FC WHM do this EXACT thing. I was standing next to her and watched her run STRAIGHT off. We had it down to around 30% and I felt so bad for her (since she basically made it a wipe)... I wasn't going to tell anyone what happened in case she wanted to keep it a secret... but she immediately started saying in voicechat, "OH MY GOD I AM SO SORRY I DIDN'T MEAN TO RUN OFF THE EDGE I HOPE NO ONE SAW THAT." Me, with a big grin on my face... "I saw it. :D :D :D" Anyway, we got the win soon after so all was right with the world.
Guilty too.. When bombs are coming I tilt my camera so it's right above me, don't want to fall again so I just play it safe xD
My story:
A WHM that casted one more Medica2 than he should, a Titan that turned around and a Landslide I really was not prepared to dodge, all in the same second. The DRG in my FC took pictures as I flew away from the platform xD
Fun fact:
This happened twice, managed to dodge the second landslide. Go me XD
Just so you guys know... I don't hold it against a tank when they do this. I think every single tank in my FC has done it at least ONCE... but it is still pretty funny when it happens because Titan goes on a rampage almost immediately.
I've had good and bad run ins with Titan. You don't have to beat him to have fun.
My worse moment was when I was talking my friend on Skype in phase 5 everyone was alive and and full hp, I accidentally pressed 'r' which is auto-run by default and ended up running of the edge. My first reaction was "WTF" then a burst of laughter.
My best moment was when I was running from a plume near the tank, I just kinda forgot what the heck I was doing and stopped there anyway he landslided me, I ran through him now don't ask me why but when I saw that arrow I was about to cry, instead of it pushing me off the edge it flung me into the center, I giggled slightly.
It wasn't a pug but I had to share this. They say a picture speaks a thousand words...

He had more hp than that, but it took me a min to think to take a screenshot. Yes, the healer is in a rock and yes, I used Hallowed Ground. We finished the fight though! Yay!
That's amazing Soulscare.
We've done that once, it was our FC SMN running in circles watching his dots tick with the entire rest of the party dead and him spamming Ruin II like a madman.
Managed to kill him right before he would have mountain buster'd lol
