SE's FFXIV at E3

Game isn't ready for E3 yet. Too little too soon creates another false start.

True enough, and @V they have already made it clear the PS3 version is complete and with their fiscal report they plan to support this game fully. Which in turn that just said PS3 release is definite.

hah whoops yeh i ment release date, i doubt we'll get release date @ e3, they will want to be very sure this time and not rush out a game that atm has no hype.

If it was me, I'd wait until have the overhaul, impliment a bunch of content that would make a good trailer, then start marketing it and i'd show it at a TGS or Gamescom and not an e3 again.

If ffxiv is at e3 I will eat my own weight in moogles

I really don't think SE will mention FFXIV at E3. It's just not ready. I mean, they could, but at this point what all do they have to talk about? "We're still working on it!"

One thing's for sure -- this E3 will be interesting. Sony's reaction to the PSN hacking/downtime (if any), Nintendo's new consoles, Microsoft's...whatever they have going on.

I pretty confident though in saying I think PS3 version will be out this year sometime and for some reason if not at the very latest q1 2012

Its possible there is a bunch of content the dev's have kept hush about so it can be a surprise at E3(obviously not talking about the battle system revamp / job changes).

Its unlikely, but within the realm of possibility I'd say.

They Could Very Well Reveal Changes for the upcoming Future of this game. Because lets face it, They waisted millions upon Millions of Dollars to make this game better for their Future Subscribers, and Do you really think They want to waist more Money? No, they are trying to dig themselves outta this hole they created.

They Could Very well:

-List Upcoming Changes to FFXIV
- Reveal of an Expansion (Which would create alot of Spark)
-PS3 (Around a ball park) Release
-Teaser Trailer for this Expanison (or anything else related to the game)

Theirs nothing wrong with showing The World the Status of FFXIV and telling them whats in store for them in the future. Not saying they will show anything at E3, but Im saying is it will be a missed opportunity if they let this Event to slip by to give the "Potential Subscribers" A Much Needed Update and for the future of this game

I really hope a big surprise for the E3, just a movie from expension, new zone, something

Everyone always thinks SE is going to drop some "bomb" that will save FFXIV. From beta to release, we were going to get a "bomb". From release until a month ago we were supposed to get a "bomb" for the six month anniversary.

I think it's safe to say SE is a pacifist when it comes to weapons of mass destruction.

I highly doubt there will be any new info about xiv at e3. Tgs or gamescon possibly but with the team in perpetual crunch mode right now i doubt any one from the core lead team would be willing to take off. once the full changes to the battle system are live and things are a bit more stable it might be a possibility.

There really isn't nothing new they can advertise.

There's no point advertising the same game they advertised last year at this time. It's almost the same under developed game, in most respects.

Hm I wonder. What was improved so much since new year.
Game still seems almost same to me + I feel less and less players are playing. Game got few little improvements, but not so much. Its better than it was at date of release, but it still lacks too much. And UI is sometime indeed slow, complicated, battle included. Not ready for PS3- E3 at all. My guess.

That's exactly what I was thinking, FFXIV has nothing to show at E3 for the moment, the devs are scrambling to get the game in shape there's no way anyone has time to prepare and go to a show.

I think its obvious this wont happen as Xbox Live is a closed network. SE is not the only company to get refused.

FFXIV will not be at E3 because that is reserved for new ships that will be setting sail, not drowning ships that are trying to be kept afloat.

Also, this game is still not ready, dev test version or not, to be seen by the mainstream media again. We should be there by the end of the summer.

FFXIV devs would do themselves a favor by just focusing on PC and PS3 for now.

i also agree they wont be at the E3 while most hope they will, se with use the ad space to make the most of the upcoming titles

i expect nothign from e3

i think it would be news about ffxiv at e3 it hasnt to be a "bomb" or an instant release of ps3 version but they could talk about a big patch or a close release date, even 6 months in wich they can do a lot of patches so the game really shines,saying a date doesnt mean that they will realease at the current state, they will keep working until the time it occurs

and i agree that the e3 is not just for games ready to go, the most of the presentacions are about works in progress and thats what ffxiv is, like ffxi it started like crap and 1 year later with the ps3 it was a great game that was evolving step by step until it became the awesom game it was, and still is

I don't see FFXIV at E3 but i could be wrong maybe they show there new mmo? or some info about it.

SE needs start generating and hype around this game to pull back old players and spark interest in new ones, even if the next 2 patch makes this game amazing it would do little good if people don't know about it and the community would still dwindle!
I think they have to show something big in regards to this game at E3 and it would be a wasted opportunity if they did not, im hoping the have a big trailer for future updates (somthing similar to the Aion 3.0 trailer) to give people something to be excited about and look forward to, seriously having nothing to show at E3 would be a gross pr/marketing fail

They will probably only reveal the name of the MMO, at the very least. But if anything, I'd think they would only mention working on it and not give any details yet. That's kinda how SE has been.

Guys, I hate to dissapoint you, but even last year FFXIV's presence at the show was minimal. It was just a really small booth with some PCs inside (a couple of set ups for 3D Vision, others weren't) with a demo of the game where you could run a guildleve. Entrance was by appointment only (I stood outside watching for a while that's it).

So with that in mind the possibility of them being there again this year is extremely unlikely.

Then again, you can't really base it off of that experience alone. They may have a small booth set up again, but it would most likely be some way to display how the game is going to be changed.

What's disappointing? Most MMOs shown off at E3 aren't as extravagant as say a Halo show off.

Actually most MMOs at the show had a much bigger and flashy showing than FFXIV, including NC Soft's (or maybe it was Nexon, I forgot) booth along with loads of other games I haven't even seen launched yet.

All I'm saying is they don't take E3 as seriously for this product in particular so I don't see it being something huge. Maybe Tokyo Game Show would be a more adequate time and place.

I definitely expect some questions during interviews, but there won't be a spot for XIV at e3. Whatever the next event is, i'm sure if they see fit they'll cleverly "relaunch" the game with news of PS3 release and possibly news of an expansion, or something to get people excited over the game again.

I'm willing to bet that if anything, Yoshida is going to be there to give interviews(try not to die from fright on the plane, Yoshi), and maybe make some mention of upcoming content. I suspect that they might keep anything else FFXIV related on the down low other than maybe booth presence. We'll probably hear about PS3 release between E3 and TGS.

That's just the way I see it anyway. I'm in HR and business improvement, not marketing.

i Hope they don't have to knockout yoshida like when they had to fly Mr. T on the A team.

If that were the case it would be understandable but sadly i think they dont have a reason for not giving players any solid info on whats going on.
maybe.. its to keep players anticipating and excited but i think all thats really doing is pissing ppl off =/
