Because it's Saturday night, prime playing time for me, and I can't even log on to my world because apparently Odin wrecked the servers.
Because it's Saturday night, prime playing time for me, and I can't even log on to my world because apparently Odin wrecked the servers.
I'm not subbing because I don't need to pay again for another 6 months. =p
Continued to sub because I enjoy the fact it's easy for me to pick up and set down on my whims. I have work hours that constantly change so being able to do things at my own pace is pretty nice. Also have friends who are playing so that's another plus. I can usually get around most of the lag by moving before the attack really starts and I'm playing with about an extra 200-300 ms on top of the normal 300 ms delay there is. It's also one of the few MMO I've actually enjoyed and played more than 2 weeks before stopping because I found it to be boring.
At first I had really high hope about this game, with all the beautiful world & characters, hoping to play a leisure game that I can spend each day enjoying interacting with ppl. But turn out most, if not all of the endgame contents are in instances - the land of elitists.
The open world is extremely small with only fates to do, then everyone wear the same sets of undyeable/unmeldable gear, unless they spend a fortune on the crafted ones. I can hardly ever see my character's face & hair anymore due to the stupid tribal cowl.
Those are only my personal disappointments. I'm still a MMO vet so Im pretty fine with all the primals fight, fc raids & whatnot, but the unresponsiveness & GCD in ARR combat doesn't really help it either, half of my fc already quit because of that.
I'll probably come back in 2.1, but it's just because there's no other AAA MMOs on the market right now that appeal to me (ARR has great graphic & FF theme, & that's pretty much it). I'm pretty sure this game won't be able to satisfy me in a long term though.
If you aren't subbing, I hope they remove your ability to make stupid posts on the forums, trying to draw others to quit the game as well, with your negative nancy comments.
Because I have a work deadline in a week and won't have time, after that resubbing though. no ffxiv for a week isn't gonna kill me.
Even though the OP does have valid points, it does get tedious to be waiting on the duty finder for 30+ minutes to do a single dungeon or even a primal fight. It also is true that the game is fun up to level 50, then it goes downhill (due to the mindless dungeon/primal spam).
Basically I am subscribing because of the next reasons:
1. I loved the story of the game
2. They improved the game a lot, from what we had in 1.0 this is wonders.
3. The game is not tedious for leveling a single character to max level on one job, you can pretty much level what you like in no time and enjoy it, which is a pro in my eyes, I wouldn't like to have one single class to level 50 spamming all the same fates over and over for a year, then thinking that all DoL and DoH are way slower. That'd be a pain in the butt.
4. I am so fed up of free to play games, I'm over with them, I will try to never touch a free to play game ever again. 15+ years of playing mmos and they all end up being pay to win being "free to play", they get even more expensive than a sub game, look at perfect world international, I used to love that game, the first 2 years were the best then they basically said, give us $5k USD and you'll get the best gear ever. No, I won't do that, ever. I will either play sub games or atleast buy to play games that do not have a pay to win system, such as guild wars 2.
5. I am looking forward for housing, I want my little big mansion to put in my decors and spend time with people I just met, they are fun :) also want to see what pvp will look like, I know this is not a pvp game, but guess it could be fun.
Just my thoughts ^^
PS: Don't tell me to sub to WoW instead, I have played it for less than 2 weeks and will never play that game ever again...
I'm subbing because I've been enjoying the game so far. However, i do have two gripes that would be my primary reasons if I didn't:
1) The currently position delay in the game is unacceptable.
2) So bloody tired of AK. Need at least a few more ways of getting Myth tomes.
I'll be subbing although I think I will quit the forums. I love this game cant wait to get off work everyday and get some game time in. What I dont like is the end game locusts crying about not enough end game content. You knew what was in the game when you bought it and you know when the next content is coming out. If you wanna max everything in 2 weeks then just subscribe for 1 month everytime new content comes out and you will be fine.
So people that are top geared and are bored wait til 2.1 comes out subscribe for 1 month rush that content. In two weeks when you are maxed again you'll almost be done with your subscription. Perfect solution for you guys, then 2 outta 3 months between new content the forums wont be flooded with your whining.
i quit this game , i made 2,7mio gil with crafting and trade and i get banned for 1week+all gil are gone. this happen to most player that have 1mio gil or more this isnt acceptable square enix can proof i never buy gil from RMT i make all the gil from hundreds of auctions.
bye bye FF14 ARR
I want to sub, but their billing system won't let me, therefore I'm not subbing till they let me sub.
Honestly, I love the game. The reason I'm not subbing is because I have quite a few games I need to play before the PS4 version comes out. I'll be back and subbing at that point.
not subbing . i lost interest when i hit 50
I'll be subbing once they have their billing fixed. I keep getting timed out. But anyways, i'll be subbing for 3 months and maybe then i'll see how SE is @ fixing issues. I'm still a fan, but not blind to the flaws this game has. I haven't had to deal with any level 50+ content yet thankfully. Really don't see much for me after 3 months though. Not into doing endgame this time around. Hate dungeons. Did almost all endgame FFXI had to offer and it was fun. This game, endgame doesn't seem so fun from what i hear.
I am not renewing for a few reasons. One of them being that I am one of those ppl suffering from the crazy lag 50% of my available play time. The other is that there is nothing to do at end game. Your options are Titan, and BC once a week. Just not enough to do, and too many issues with the servers still.
I will check back after CT is released, but for now... meh.
Imo this game isn't worth a sub, however I am playing with a few irl friends which I enjoy so I've subbed for that reason mainly. The game itself needs a lot of work.
I enjoy the game, and plan on continue subbing.
Even though the end game is lack luster(cough GW2 release uncough) end game right now, I don't mind it. I don't mind grinding up tomes for my main job(scholar), it would just mean I don't use tomes for secondary jobs(summoner & paladin((later in the future anyways))) it gives me something to do. I only have problems with how hard it can be sometimes to make gil. The only real way to make gil, is crafting/gathering, and that's really my only major issue because it's always the same problem with crafting being superior to every other form of gil making.
HQ eurudite picatrix of healing with the materia needed for relic? Let's slap a 350k gil price tag on that and call it a day!....As I sob quietly in my corner looking at my measly 20k gil that I've tried saving up. Course, that's just me since I really have no urge to come back from work, hop on a realm reborn and...work some more. As I continue going off track.
Anyways! Fun game, obvious release flaws, problems here and there I hope get fixed(like me being broke*sobs*), will continue subscription.
Great feedback. There seems to be a lot of recurring themes being mentioned. Hopefully the dev team has people taking notes on the constructive feedback that so many people have shared so far. It will be helpful in luring players back and keeping those players who move at a slower pace around for the long haul'. I understand that it's common for many new mmorpgs to lose a large chunk of players after the initial trial periods ends, but that doesn't have to be the case with this game. It has a lot of promise.
On another note, I feel like the dev team needs to better communicate their plans and acknowledge criticism, concerns, and general player issues that seem plaguing this thread and the forums in general. The fact that they seem to have no presence on this board is not reassuring and is a poor way to operate in a modern day of MMOS where developers have an open line of communication with the players. Sometimes just the acknowledgement that concerns are being heard can keep people playing for longer. It allows the player to develop trust that the development team isn't completely blind or deaf to issues that players find important. As it stands now, you have to have a lot of faith in the Dev team to maybe, possibly be listening to your feedback and make adjustments accordingly.
Don't know what time my account goes inactive, so goodluck to those who decide to sub or not sub, and here's hoping they listen to player feedback in order to make the game enjoyable for current, future, and returning players.
As I said in another thread:
Boring endgame, boring combat system, boring questing, hilariously awkward user interface, etc. FFXIV is, at best, aggressively competent. It doesn't excel in any area, and virtually everything in it is copy/pasted from other MMOs. I wish I could say I feel they've at least improved on those systems, but that isn't the case.
As a result, nope, won't be resubbing. I've literally had some of Perfect World's regurgitated F2P half-assed offerings hold my attention longer.
I've already subbed, as I feel the core game is quite nice. Endgame dungeon attitudes defintely need a change though.
I suppose that would be the most glaring issue right now, among others.
Because every single aspect of the game is a step back from current standards. It feels more like the precursor to WoW, the developers have regressed ten years backwards in the MMORPG timeline. Coupled with the wildly inept handling of matters such as the gil scandal and class balance complaints, as well as the awful server infrastructure and practically non-existent customer service, I see little reason to play this game and wouldn't do it even if it were free. It was neat to try, but it doesn't hold up to any kind of scrutiny. Everything about FFXIV is simply a level below what can reasonably be expected of a 2013 MMORPG on its second launch. I'm not even going back to WoW (haven't played for a few years now) but I'm certainly not going to play a worse game. Who the heck even makes a 2013 MMORPG without servers in Europe? Even the most small-time, underfunded minnows like Path of Exile have proper regional servers.
I'm not subbing for a few reasons:
1 - The game does not really offer anything special, the only features that really stand out are the crafting, that you can play all classes on one character and I guess the story, but the story is of no interest to me, because the writing, dialogue, etc in computer games is like 95% of Hollywood movies, laughably bad, cheesy, clichéd and aimed at children, if I want a good story I will read a book.
2 - If I pay a sub, I expect a certain level of service, servers in Montreal when I'm in Europe is not acceptable, I've already seen the difference it makes when LOTRO switched EU servers to Boston.
3 - The combat is rather dull.
4 - The classes are rather dull and simplistic, if I compare to say LOTRO, and think how interesting Warden with its gambit mechanics, Loremaster/Captain/Burglar as hybrid DPS/support, even Minstrel in how much there was to healing with tiers of ballads, songs, etc rather than the simplistic spammy WHM in this game.
Not subbing.
Reasons:
- Primary issue: Lag and terrible netcode. Endgame is pratically unplayable for me and other people too.
- Primary issue: Every instance has to be on Duty Finder, including Chimera, Hydra and Coil.
- Primary issue: Fate farming is TERRIBLE and it's our only option to level jobs after the first one, due to lack of quests and very low xp on dungeons and levequests.
- Secondary issue: Some QoL stuff that really annoy me (especially the terrible TAB targeting and the chocobo issues).
- Secondary issue: Crafting is pretty cool, but NOT when you have to process tons of raw materials. It takes WAY too much time and effort, and quick synthesis (which is not that quick anyway) is not an option due to really low XP gain and higher chance of failing and waste of materials.
I like the game, but it's too messed up now.
I'll probably try out the 2.1 patch if I don't start playing something else in the meantime... not sure. But I'm not subbing for now.
Is this your 1st MMO? cause they don't sound like your type of game. of course your opinion of everything being boring is your own but these are not your type of games. you should find something else that suits your fancy try out the Wii.
Never understand why people still say "boring endgame" or any type of that when the game is barly a month old and has not even gotten it's 1st patch yet.
If the issue with the bots and hacks is not significantly better after 2.1 i'll unsub.
This is what happens when you take away open world mob/grouping and replace it with linear solo gameplay with content managed grouping (e.g. instance dungeons) accessed via a middle man (duty finder).
The social aspect is eradicated because it's not necessary - desired maybe, but not necessary.
I would just like to point out that this is not a very good comparison. Comparing VHS to, I assume, Bluray is comparing the quality of the picture, not the quality of the movies. People would still enjoy those movies, if not more so, if they were filmed using the latest advances in digital technology.
I'll give the game until 2.1, I like the game and I'm interested to see the pvp and the new armors that are going to come with it and housing! Can't wait for the housing and hopefully they'll have a Halloween Event this month cause I need dat Halloween gear.
Not subbing because:
-I cant, 401/601 said no.
-Regional Servers don't exist making lag a large issue in a game where near twitch-reflex timing is required to dodge boss abilities and create a failed version of "instant" cast time abilities.
-Customer support is utterly horrible. I used to think that WoW had some of the most moronic employees working in customer support...I have now found worse. Not even my experiences in XI compare.
You will probably just say you have another character that has all 50's, but I'll say it anyways. What endgame could you have done on a lvl 34 cnj? You couldn't have even realized the combat system if you don't have all your skills or participated in the fights that start to take actual skill. Story-mode Titan is the first encounter that takes real focus, in my opinion at least. I've thoroughly enjoyed the story quests and will, without a doubt, say they are the most well thought out story quests of any of the MMOs I've played in the last few years.
Continuation:
As for the interface, I don't see how it is awkward. I'd honestly like an example here. It seems fairly streamlined to me. Even with a controller you can open up the windows you need in a second or two. I'd bet that controller can actually be faster than keyboard in action execution for combat.
Best MMO I've ever played + it is Final Fantasy. Have re-subbed, looking forward to when the WoWtards have left.
I like the game so far, and i only have 1 problem that , if somehow not fixed, will eventually make me stop playing as it kills the gaming experience for me.
Being a long time mmo player, ive learnt to avoid aoe with the best of them.
Now, i play from australia, and no matter HOW DAMN FAR i am away from the red aoe lines etc, 5/10 times , ill still get hit.
Apparently all us aussies have this prob, so im guessing the oceanic population in FF14 will dwindle pretty quickly as this problem is a game breaker....Especially for harder content..
Ill keep subbed for now and see what happens or till i just cant take it anymore!
Not gonna be subbing. Although I have not reached end game, the lack of content (as described by many people) at the end is pretty disappointing. However the game breaking factor for me is the 2.5 GCD, the 300ms polling rate, and the animation cooldowns. The nightmare stories I hear about the DF is also appalling (I don't blame SE though, much of the blame goes to Blizzard)
I don't get a lot time to play the game, and was hoping to subscribe to finally get to end game. But with Hex: Shards of Fate alpha coming in a couple of days (yay!), it's going to be extremely difficult to get myself back into ARR. Though I will occasionally check back for game updates and the general sentiments in the forums.
Not subbing for these reasons, see this post here. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ttering-really.
Because the asses are not round enough.
Mind Numbing content and still no PvP... Havent logged on in 2 weeks now :L
All I have left to do is Coil.. or FATE grind another job? Sorry unless FATE grinding is balanced vs proper exping/dungeons I'll pass, as much as I hate FATEs and would go the dungeon route on purpose, it's just ridiculous that my extra effort really doesn't amount to any better exp with the DF queue and all that. Or exp parties I heard are viable, but the initial time investment in setting up a party and then going out to exp is not really appealing when FATEs give so much exp and are so easy. So I guess after the next sub is over, I'll be back when they do something about the mind numbing FATE zerging.
