this might sound a bit harsh, but you can skip ifirit and farm garuda, if we where in the same world I would take you myself till you got the garuda sword it has a higher Ilevel and will be more usefull than ifirit in the titan fight
did about 10 garuda runs yesterday the sword dropped on the first run. Its random chance, and random chance can really **** you over sometimes after all just because you haven't seen it yet does not mean the next run your more lightly to see it you still have a 1/9 chance of getting it -

First off, I have to say, I don't believe that you beat Ifrit 205 times. I got my Ifrit weapon in like 8-9 tries. Everyone else I know did the same thing.
But, let's say all of this is true. It may well be. Get your level 50 GC weapon, and move on. You're a tank, it's far less important to have the Ifrit weapon than others. You are not barred from the rest of the content. In fact my FC Paladin didn't get the Ifrit sword, and moved to Garuda and got that one. -

n=20 > x~90 %
n=50 > x~99.7%
n=100 > There would be a 1 to 130000 for not getting a drop, which is still quite probable compared to winning the lottery. -

Well as dumb as this sounds, our FC runs started having the people that needed the weapon open the chest. 60% of the time it worked every time ^^
But seriously, it seems to work better that way for us, unless you count that Saturday when we did Ifrit 15 times, 5 runs in a row we got books, and the book dropped 9 total times that day. -

I think the real question to this entire thread is: Why did you run ifrit so many times? Those weapons are basically worthless. You could just get a GC weapon or run WP for a weapon there while collecting tokens. Then once you've gotten a few pieces of DL armor start running AK/Garuda. Seems a LOT of wasted time for a mediocre weapon.

Dude, I feel you. I've now done about 48 complete runs of Wanderer's Palace trying to get my Darklight Kite Shield, but it just won't drop. I could buy the ilvl70 Scutum, but I don't really like Scutums, nor do I want to spend 1.5m on something I'll be swapping out for relic, since I'm to do my relic bosses once I get a decent shield <_<
But yeah, at least you only have to deal with repeating a single, easy boss over and over, with no trash. Clearing the entirety of WP this much has been annoying as hell.

not to burst your bubble but I beat Garuda with a lv 34 (or something around that) White weapon on my paladin lv 50.
For a paladin the most important thing is your armor not your weapon. If you want to be "geared" then farm CM for tombs and darklight. If you really want that ifrit blade then do ifrit after every 2 CM runs. Once you have 3 or 4 pieces of darklight you'll be 100% fine for garuda. Once you have most of the darklight set you'll be ready for titan. Your green weapon is perfectly fine for both fights. You are not there to do DPS and while more damage on your weapon will help holding hate you really shouldn't have too much of a problem with that... maybe slight issues on titan but you should have no issues whatsoever on garuda. If your party doesn't do enough dps it isn't your fault it is the DD's fault. -

I've done Ifrit about 80 times and seen a sword drop maybe three of those times. Unfortunately you can't do much about RNG. -

Funny thing is I'm a WAR. I have seen more swords drop than any other weapon. I also have the SCH and MNK weapons too. All three from greed lotting. I wish the drop rate for that axe were the same for me.
PS the weapons are important to tanks, because when you go into AK with geared DPS, holding mobs can become an issue. -

What is wrong with the people on this thread. The guy is talking about the actual problem with RNG in this game. He's trying to do the right thing as a PLD which is to make sure his sword is up to date before he continues with the content since HM Ifrit is accessible as a fresh 50.
People complain about gimped individuals all the time and this guy is taking steps to rectify the problem on his part but is held back due to RNG. I did 30 ifrit runs to get my sword and only saw it pop twice. It's a terrible system because it probably doesn't trim the outliers like in this case.
People saying they got their weapon quickly or the OP could do higher level instances instead is all hindsight. He didn't think it would require that many runs to get his Ifrit sword.
Also for those that "hold hate" with a crap weapon, that's complete BS or you're not doing speed runs. When other people have primal weapons or relic you can't do shit against that. Any + to damage is important as a PLD since your enmity is based on your weapon not your armor. Armor helps your survival which in most cases isn't a problem due to skills and the fact that you have a healer. He's not doing Titan HM so he doesn't need to have the top armor right now, but a weapon is important to complete speed runs and tanking.
I did plenty of Speed runs with a PLD who had his lvl 50 GC weapon, it sucks compared to the ifrit weapon. He had full DL gear and yet he couldn't tank due to the fact that my weapon created more enmity using the same skills.
I personally applaud this guy for trying to go through the proper steps in order to make sure hes properly geared before trying to do other content in which people complain about gimps. So to you sir I tip my imaginary hat for trying to do the right thing.
That being said, after 205 runs I would just say screw it and doing CM runs and do garuda and try that out instead of Ifrit. You'll probably have better luck with that after being shafted by Ifrit for so long. -

Relic in ver.1 meant something.. now the "best" weapon in the game is easier & more common and can simply upgrade +1 with short time. So basically the game should be setup so everyone has full DL + relic, save up some myth and +1.. and then what's left? It's all linear.. What if he just thought ifrit weapon looked cool and he wanted to feel a sense of progression. Seriously you should wrk your way upto a relic, not have it be that easily obtained. Might as well make gear all skins since everyone basically has the same stats.

Imo, everything should be a token system. Bosses dropping gear is just silly. What they should do is have your GC hold all of the gear. Then create a token system for each tier of dungeon content (15-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50), Then make a token for each primal on normal and another token for each primal on hard. Then a Token for BC and another for Crystal Tower. Keep myth and philo the way it is. Then when you do Ifirit X Times for Y amount of tokens you can trade them in to your GC for the weapon of your choice.
This would prevent the need for a greed/need/pass system (solving all of those current problems) and allow people to get gear for their off classes when they are on their main class. This would also remove the need for EPGP/DKP systems.
To make such system work they could make the tokens partial. E.g. everyone gets X tokens, but someone who wins the roll gets Y More of them. And IMO, the tokens should drop based on multiplier's. E.g. Have goals on each boss fight and if all of them are meant you get the max multiplier. E.g. Imagine AK's first boss (-Kill the boss in under 5 minutes, -Take 0 dmg from avoidable AOE -Kill the priest before the summon) if you do one goal its X1, if you get two you get double tokens, or something like that. -

There are ilevel 70 crafted weapons. It's faster to farm the gil to buy these than it is to get primal weapons, unless you get lucky with the latter.

I take no pleasure in grinding out SE's poorly designed item-drop mechanics. I can just see how this is going to go in the months ahead, and I have no interest in it all. I need to find another MMO, or follow the FFXIV news updates to watch for a dramatic improvement.
I'll admit I am a bit biased, I'm a bit embittered by the way they handled RME in FFXI, and FFXIV is clearly going down the same path - I'm glad I got out early in FFXIV. I quit FFXI for the same shift from horizontal to vertical gear progression. I played FFXI for 10+ years.

It is better than 1.0 (which is not saying much), some of us had to suffer through no drops other than dark matter or weapons dropping to random members who do not even play that job. That being said, I applaud the op for being so persistent, but I would move on to Garuda and hope for better luck.
