Lucky you. I see it constantly while DFing in this game; I've never seen it be this bad anywhere else, actually - which is surprising considering the game's been out a month. Or people may not attack new players per se but they just up and leave;could you blame a DPS who had sat in the queue to get there for an ungodly amount of time for not wanting to wait even more? It doesn't excuse the reaction the OP got but it does explain it.
It very well could be. I just don't understand how the game has already got to this point. Someone asks if you're new, and automatically get defensive by responding with insults and immediately leaving...without even asking why someone wants to know, or even giving people a chance to explain why they are asking.
Just because someone asks if you're new...doesn't mean they're about to attack you. Folks want to know, so you aren't blindsided by a tank that starts boss fights and you don't know what's going on. That's when people get mad. Best to speak up beforehand :)
this didn't happen to me yet, but when it does - I'll just go to the dungeon entrance and leave the instance. I can wait, despite being a DPS *I have my supply missions and leves to do too*. I heard a lot of horror stories about DF in late game, so at least spiritually, I'm prepared. *now to level my crafting to high enough level to repair my stuff myself, sigh*
I usually start off the run by asking if anyone is new, if nobody speaks up, I tell them they better speak up now, because if I find anyone later who doesn't know the fights, I may become "unpleasant".
