Thank you, and see, here's another confusing part. As scholar, I can go through my hunting log and my kills get credited to the Arcanist log. Same goes with White Mage and Conjurers hunting log, hence another reason I assumed DPS over Healing

Scholar is a healing role
scholar is grate at healing one person at a time
White mage are grate at healing groups at a time
both togeaver are brilliant :D
i can understand a difficulty if it was your first time healing from switching from arcanist but you should of known leveling up Conjurer that it was a healing role
EDIT: also if you have done your scholar job missions the spells you gain are all healing based AND becoming a scholar increses your mind stat which makes your healing spells stronger
No no, Scholar is a healer. If you want to do dps get your THM to 15 and grab Summoner, they level up at the same time...so when I do dungeons I'll go Scholar, but if I'm questing or someone needs a DPS I'll go Summoner. Also, your hunting log won't change whether your an Arcanist, Summoner, or Scholar. I imagine if they add new jobs to the classes we have now, it'll be the same deal.
So yea...don't go into a dungeon as a Scholar expecting to dps.
Think of SMN and SCH as the "dual spec" feature from that other game. It would have helped drive the point home if all the base classes had two jobs (each serving a different role in a party) at launch, perhaps even at the cost of having fewer base classes until later.
Scholar is the healer, if you want DPS get Summoner. They both originate from ACN you just have to level a different sub job to unlock.
For what is is worth, your Fairy will pretty much carry the heals for a little while, (especially if you scale down to earlier dungeons), so it isn't entirely your fault for being under the impression you can still DPS. Don't worry though, in a few levels you'll need to almost exclusively heal, and around the level 47-50 range the fairy gets a case of poobrain and you have to start fumbling with the unintuitive controls to have it functioning.
Might be worth starting to get into the habit now (if you wish to pursue SCH) to have a keybind for Embrace and Place. If you Place your pet close to the tank/melee it'll 'auto-heal' much more reliably; just try to have it in a position that doesn't get hit by boss cleaves and such. You can use the pet UI for this, but I find it far quicker/more responsive to have it on a keybind. Also, in the case of Embrace, make sure you have the one that is appropriate to the pet you are using (Eos or Selene) for your keybind, as they are not universal.
IMO Scholar still has room for some improvements such as removing the passive int skill for passive mind etc :)
Were people dying or near death while you're dps'ing?
If yes, then you're playing wrong.
If no, then keep doing what you're doing.
I think you're getting "Class" and "Job" confused. Arcanist is your Class. If you don't equip a soul to use a job, then Arcanist is DPS. Arcanist is the only class with two souls atm: Summoner and Scholar.
When you equip the Summoner soul, you are a DPS role. When you equip the Scholar soul, you are a Healer role. If you queue for dungeons as a scholar, you are queuing for the healer role of the party. If you do not want to be healer, then you need to either unequip the Scholar soul so you revert to Arcanist, or you need to equip the Summoner soul instead.
Most classes have room for improvement, some more then others.
I think the main thing that would help is a clearer class discriptions, especially in cases like this where 1 class can split into 2 roles.
I cant Judge for the sch quests, but the whm one was very clear about whm being a healer, Im assuming this is the case for sch quests too, if not.. thats another thing that could help avoiding the confusion.
