Drybone is useless before level 18 as you can't hand in the quests there until then.

Autumn,
Retry the boss fight. When you engage in combat, run as far as you can to the left side of the screen away from the mage. Kill the gargoyle at that point. The mage will not attack you from that distance. Bring a high potion or two. I managed to beat the encounter fairly easily on my JP server thaumaturge doing that.
You can also get a CNJ to level 2 or a ACN to level 2 and get Cure/Physick so you can heal yourself.
There are 2 levels to this fight 1st level is with npcs fighting along side you just attack lower tier mobs with the npcs and try not to get hate there will be a final boss you have to beat with then npcs . On the 2nd part with the masked mage pull the gargoyle over to the left and kill, kite and survive.
Good Luck
For the first phase, make sure you keep the healer NPCs alive and enemy healers dead. Also not which monster has the lowest health and help the NPC kill that one. Then go to the next one, the NPC will follow that target and you'll have a whole NPC party killing one mob in the end.
It won't attack you at all, the mage is passive. Look at the icon lol
How in the hell does this happen to people? Seriously, how do you end up with no quests to do at level 15?
Either you're not looking hard enough for quests, or you're just not looking at all. do you ever do leves? those are quests. What about your hunting log? To many people ignore their hunting for some reason. Every time i've started a new character, I manage to hit 17 or 18 before even starting the level 15 adventure's guild quest, and that's solely off of doing regular quests, a few levels, the hunting log, and FATEs.
If you had read the whole thread, the OP hasn't been able to beat the main story quest with the Gargoyle/Masked Mage. That's the bottleneck and they're trying to find something to do to increase their level to trivialize the fight rather than trying a different tactic to win. There's no reason why a level 15 cannot beat that quest, especially after how much they already nerfed it.
