1.0 did have NMs. They had one that spawned every 15 minutes (low level gear) and ones that spawned less frequently for better gear.

I'm aware, they were implemented later, and not on release.
And they were hard as F. hardly worth the rewards.
Also, being on a timer sorta ruins the whole hunt... They should be on a timer, but a random one, spanning from like 15 mins to 4-5 hours... That's just my opinion, but if they spawn every 15 mins, it's not very unique when you see one.
What's wrong with FATE NMs? Everyone can participate, everyone gets rewarded. Even if it is a laggy cluster of people. I like that the game's Notorious Monsters aren't dictated by whoever can claim the fastest (likely by botting.)
If this isn't satisfactory for you...well, last I checked, FFXI is still up. Feel free to go play that. '-'-b
NM fates are the biggest joke for a "boss" EVER. Seriously. Just killed the big B, and that was the least satisfactory fight I've ever had. FATES are the worst content in the game, worse than gw2. BRING BACK NMS!
That's why they bring back faction leves, and have special NM's, with cool drops in them.
Yeah, because running to a blue glob on the map where 250 other people are spamming it with absolutely no strategy other than zerg is as fun as actually having to have a competent party where people need to actually use their roles and skills to win. Cause showing up 0.01 seconds too late and it is already at 40% and who knows who has hate, is so much fun for a tank.
I would love to see some sort of hidden monster content in this game that generated a random loot or gear drop. They could be so uncommon that farming them would be a waste of time, as far as I'm concerned, but such a little Easter egg of an event would be a nice touch to a game that I think lacks some motivation to hunt and explore in the overworld once quests start slowing down and the hunting logs get depleted. I mean, I don't hate Fates. Some of them are challenging, especially when you get to them before a lot of people start logging on and they turn into a lag-ridden chore.
Anyway, want to fight a boss ladybug that will wreck your day? Maybe fulfill some sort of crazy requirements and watch it spawn before your eyes. I don't know what implementation would be, but I certainly think it would be a lot of fun to run across one.
