Don't get me wrong, I think the pvp will be fun.. but it will be a no brainer. Probably a gankfest :P

I think I have to agree with what one said, this combat isn't ready for a PVP atmosphere. Combat is nice, but overall it's a bit clunky to go against other players with. I'm an avid PVPer in another game, but here it would just be a sellout idea, imo.
I'm looking forward to it. I enjoy a bit of pvp that isn't overly frustrating due to mechanics, so we'll have to see how it's implemented.
I thought they said there will be different skills for pvp vs pve.
As for all the old farts who say because FFXI never had good pvp that it means FFXIV will never had good pvp, well, get over it. Yoshi P knows what he's doing.
There was no PvP in 1.0.
I will be frank. If the primary reason you play MMOs is PvP, then this will likely never be the game for you. PvP in FFXI was very limited, and I expect it will be the same here when it is implemented.Quote:
But... Me and my buds that all came from the mmo that shall not be named multiple galds multiple seasons are all pvp junkies
With that being said pvp will make or break this game for myself and about 35 of my friends
Crosses fingers that pvp is so epic and better then any other mmo out there
Thoughts, comments, opions on 1.0 pvp anything that will help
There are specific skills and mechanics being added to the game to accommodate PvP. These of course will only be useable in PvP and not impact PvE
But even as it is, the mechanics are not unfriendly to PvP. This game is very action-oriented compared to FFXI and suits PvP much better. Movement and control in this game isn't "clunky" at all. FFXI, now that was clunky movement.
That's not likely to be the case. Yoshida is a self-proclaimed PvP fan and he's the primary reason we're going to have it in the first place. We know he's not going to half-ass it- And the early testing during beta phase 4, while missing a lot of the planned features, was still fun to me.Quote:

It will be a welcome distraction but without regular releases of new zones/battlefields it will get boring fast.
