    Pvp crosses fingers

I hope to god pvp will be good in this game
From what I hear in 1.0 was a joke but never played it so can't comment

But... Me and my buds that all came from the mmo that shall not be named multiple galds multiple seasons are all pvp junkies

With that being said pvp will make or break this game for myself and about 35 of my friends

Crosses fingers that pvp is so epic and better then any other mmo out there

Thoughts, comments, opions on 1.0 pvp anything that will help

    1. There was not PVP in 1.0
    2. PVP is limited to areas in the Wolfs Den. How good it will be is debatable. FFXI had PVP also but it was meh at best and noone used it after a while.
    3. There will be no open wold PVP.
    4. If you are a PVP junkie I would not be surpised if you are quit dissappointed.
    5. This of course coming from someone who seems PVP as something among friends to test out skills and nothing more in general.

While techincally true, Frontlines is looking to be sort of open world PvP. They are zones in themsleves although you will be warned before entering that you are open to attack from player characters. Although when that appears is anyone's guess, I'd imagine coliseum will be first though.

Remember that it has been stated that both Coliseum and Frontlines rewards and progress will have no bearing on PvE content so it's completely optional.

I honestly don't see pvp becoming more than a fun, minor distraction in between doing other things. It really isn't the focus of this game or FF in general. Really the only reason it is probably being added is due to yoshi knowing players like TC want something to bite their teeth into, but I doubt it will have any real meat to it.

There's going to be rewards, therefore there will be a following. It isn't like in FFXI where ballista had no reward whatsoever, thus there was no incentive to participate.

PVP will not and has never been the focus for a final fantasy mmo if you think PVP is going to be anything like its counterparts you will be disappointed. This is not the game you want to play for pvp. I suggest you go play GW2 or WOW. I guarantee PVP will not ever be the focus here.

Keep your expectations low, you may be surprised.

I don't see PVP being anything serious. The combat mechanics aren't very pvp friendly in my opinion. I won't be surprised if you are disappointed.

There are specific skills and mechanics being added to the game to accommodate PvP. These of course will only be useable in PvP and not impact PvE

But even as it is, the mechanics are not unfriendly to PvP. This game is very action-oriented compared to FFXI and suits PvP much better. Movement and control in this game isn't "clunky" at all. FFXI, now that was clunky movement.

I will be frank. If the primary reason you play MMOs is PvP, then this will likely never be the game for you. PvP in FFXI was very limited, and I expect it will be the same here when it is implemented.
That's not likely to be the case. Yoshida is a self-proclaimed PvP fan and he's the primary reason we're going to have it in the first place. We know he's not going to half-ass it- And the early testing during beta phase 4, while missing a lot of the planned features, was still fun to me.

Don't expect too much, if they want the pvp to be great.. they would have to change a looot of skills in pvp
