I was never against Duty Finder until now.

If you want to make your own party manually, nothing is stopping you from doing so. If you have 4 people in a party and then you queue for the instance, it's an instant queue (assuming the servers aren't lagging/broken).

It has always, always taken longer to find a party manually than with a Dungeon finder. The whole point of a dungeon finder is to shorten the wait. The one exception can be DPS, since 80% of the people queuing are DPS, but DF is still usually shorter.

DF is mostly fine, they just need to make it like it was in P3 where you can simply enter and leave a dungeon at will without using it, minus the four-eight requirement. Should be able to just enter with a group of three, or two, or even alone. Yeah you can't beat it like that, but hey.. when people drop inside an instance it searches for people to replace.. Why not allow an odd number to enter with the option of it searching for more? I'm pretty sure a lot of the content right now is possible with three or seven people. I'm also pretty sure Tank\Healer\DPSx2 and Tankx2\Healerx2\DPSx4 aren't the only viable member combinations.. so DF should allow for a bit more lenience there..

I always walk away from a dungeon. Not that I'm out of patience (I just have to click on the DF and it will start in less than a minute anyway), but it's simply because I never intended to do the dungeon right away. With how it is atm, I don't think "in front of the dungeon" is the best place for people to wait anyway, since they would likely queue DF or for those not wanting to use the DF will simply just use the shout and while waiting they'd be doing them FATEs. Don't be discouraged by the amount of people in front of the dungeon. Also a lot of people are using their multiple LS and FC chats for getting grouped up, so while there seems like nobody's up for that dungeon, just give it a shout.

It depends on how many people are around the dungeon for me, if there are several there I will try and see if they want to form a group. Works well for the earlier dungeons, but the later ones usually don't see people waiting in front of them.

I personally like it, sure u come across some idiots, but over the course i have only had a few poor groups, most are honest people just wanting to have fun, u have to over look the few jerks/idiots that u come across. its much more fun to que, and then continue questing, or do fates, or work on another class... so ur still busy, and then when the que pops.. swap back to the class/job. and off u go.. very nice. wayyyyy better than sitting for hours outside an instance spamming. blah blah looking for group.. blah blah. over and over for hours. . like in prev. FF games. makes more sense. if you dont like it. dont use it, im sure there are others that rather just sit and spam in shout LFG.... :) for me, ill be doing other stuff while in the Que. or get into a FC and party with them.. lots of options...

Its funny because I am annoyed by the exact opposite. I think to myself, why are these people standing around shouting for a group like its 1995 when there is a DF service available that will match them up? If they just queue in the DF, then all those 20-30 minute DF waits will be reduced! (not sure if there are actually enough of them to make a difference, but it does not stop my knee-jerk road rage from thinking so!)

If you ever played FFXI and spent three or four hours sitting in Lower Jeuno with your flag up hoping for a party invite (back in The Before Time), you'll think of the Duty Finder as nothing less than a godsend.

I agree that it does make things less personal, and there's a desire to just Leeroy Jenkins everything rather than discuss strategy for the newbies in the group, but I think that would happen even if the Duty Finder didn't exist.

I've grouped with a lot of people outside dungeons, though rarely a fully group thats true.
And i would argue it does later on contribute to the community, i see so much chat around RT as people are standing around waiting for the next dungeon to pop.
So i would actually say people are doing what your saying, but just not at the dungeons themselves.

Other than the more End game issue with DF i think its a great addition.
If I want a dungeon run with a group and i don't mind waiting I'm asking my LS or people on my friends list.
If i'm just running it with random people, I just use the DF.
Tbh i hate standing around using /sh and as half the time the shouts for a group just get in the way of other convos, i would say that part of it has a negative effect on the community.

Even without duty finder, you can't enter the dungeon if your group don't meet the required size.
