I was never against Duty Finder until now.

This has slowly been getting on my nerves for a while, now. I go and unlock a dungeon and sit outside to form a party to get it done with. I'm always surprised to see very few others waiting around as well. Most of the time, those who do occupy the are are AFK.

I get that Duty Finder is a huge convenience for those who don't have a lot of time on their hands or would rather rush and get as much possible in the time that Duty Finder takes to assemble a party.

But why is it so unbelievably rare to find people with the same mindset as myself who wouldn't mind waiting for just a few minutes to form a party with other players and get the dungeon run going? Pretty much nine times out of ten, I'll see someone go and unlock the same dungeon I'm waiting on, then immediately leave, having Duty Finder take care of all the work. Why not just wait a bit? If everyone who immediately left would just put up with standing around to make a party for only ten minutes (not all that much time in the grand scheme of things), then we'd all be inside and out in no time at all.

It frustrates me to no end seeing people walk away from a dungeon. Is any semblance of patience nowadays just gone? I've seen talk of Duty Finder ruining the sense of community since Beta, and never have I agreed with that claim until now. When making a party manually takes longer than they very long process of Duty Finder, I start thinking something's up.

I apologize for the rant, but this really been bothering more and more lately.

it's just more convenient. More fun. I'd rather go do other stuff while queueing up for a dungeon rather than start shouting for a party. I already do it all the time in all LS i'm in and the FC too. If people want's to join yey, if they don't want not my problem, there's a handy df for a reason =P

Even if you stand outside and make a group you still have to use DF to enter. Thats what wrong with it. You should be able to enter and leave a dungeon at will. Enter alone if you want. You cant so its a waste of time to stand around waiting on others. Since you have to que in DF anyway. Knowing its going to take long you continue your quest or what ever your doing till DF forms your group. Its not the players its the system. Everything is instance so there isnt any reason at all to wait around for anything.

The most frustrating thing about DF is all the anti-DF people. According to them, if you want to do anything at all, you should be in a hardcore Free Company, with an infinite number of friends, FC members, LS mates, and a strong enough connection to the community on the server to build a full party for all events with proper configurations at any time of day. Better get to knowing everybody on the server if you want to finish that dungeon for your plot progress!

I'm sure they'll show up here shortly to say that DF shouldn't exist, or shouldn't allow for any content above a certain level, or something else that removes choice from the players.

While i don't really mind about the DF because it can be really convenient if you want to get a group "quickly", i, in another hand, kinda miss how it was in P3 before the DF was implemented.

It was promoting to go socialize with the players around you in order to get a dungeon run. I remember when i first tried the dungeons that were available, the dungeons entrances were literally filled with people trying to make groups.
Nowadays when i try to do them on subclasses, there is barely 5 players waiting, with 3 of them being AFK waiting for DF to find a group.

Too bad we pretty much lost this when the DF has been implemented.

My least favourite thing about DF are the token people that remain silent for the entire run.

    Before a boss:
    "Have you done this before?"
    ...
    "There's some strange mechanics"
    ...
"Ok... Stand on the glowing panel if you get doomed"
    ...

    They subsequently die from doom.

    "Have you done this before?"
    - "yes, 5 times:
"all right then, lets do this"
-*dies to first room wide plume on ifrit hard*

I hate the ones who complain about pugs, when by being there alone they are now a pug. Then if something goes wrong because of someone new to the dungeon., maybe not first run, who hasn't gotten the experiance to go through smooothly. They up and quit. Then there's the 1 wipe quitters. The "Ah didn't get the loot I wanted" quitters. The "Why you not heal me when I DPS a mob the tank isn't and grab agro" quitters. (I do that so they will focus on the same mob) Silent Quitters.

All they need to do is pop out and reque. Wasting the time of everyone else. DF is a decent idea but far too easily exploited and abused.
