I don't mind all the reading... Though, I do wish there was more Voice Acting during some of the major storyline scenes. The voice acting is pretty good (I have Japanese audio on). Since I picked a voice for my character, it would be nice if he made some sound during the scenes.
I do at times glaze over the random side quests dialogue too.
It is nice that you can go in your INN and re-read the story or if you need a reminder what is going on. Plus all the cut scenes are there (great place to take screen shots).
The lore is one of the reasons I play this game. I find it odd that someone would choose to play a Final Fantasy game, but not care about the story.
I actually really enjoy reading the exposition on the various characters and locations in the game.
I guess if you don't like reading so much, there is the option to skip - and if you want to come back to it later you can generally rewatch/read in the inn. :D
