Yeah, that is what actually destroyed wow for me, after cata become easy mode(after Forum being flooded by death complaints of people standing on fire) everybody in all mmo seems to believe it is okay to just rush and pull stuff, the tanks should have high dps and not necessarily tank anything, healers just need to spam heals and the dps cant really explain better than Kevonovitch "2 dudes punching eachother in the shoulders in the middle giggling like school girls.". I really hope FFXIV don't become like that and maybe they make it harder,at least for me if it is not challenging to play it is most likely not worth playing it.

Oh... and remember, tanks, you are perfectly allowed to use your AOE enmity generating move at the beginning of a fight to take aggro on a pack, or to use it in boss fights when adds pop... I have seen too many tanks who only use single target moves and wait for the healer to get the aggro before they remember that a pack is made of more than one mob.

Tanking is a group effort at the end of the day. There is only so much a tank can do to keep threat, lay out the rules on pulling and kill order (I use marking almost religiously). I have had mostly smooth runs to date, with only a few hiccups involving trigger happy thaums dealing way too much damage too soon. That being said, I find that marking and pulling with shield throw (guarantees you initial threat of the whole group) following up with a flash or two gives me aggro of the whole group for a while. Unless the dps get over eager on the first mob, which if that is the case it will be dead in seconds anyway so I may leave it and focus on the other mobs. Making an party chat macro can help too. Something along the lines of "Let me pull first, then go crazy after my first flash."
I would type more but stupid 1000 char limit...
