Honestly, you should not need to purchase a new edition. Considering you can take your Playstation network ps3 account with you to the PS4, the download that is tied to your account should just be linked to a new downloader file that auto detects if your on ps3 or ps4 and downloads the necessary files.
Also PS4 release is 15 november for the USA and 29th of november for Europe.
As long as they let me upgrade for cheap I'll pay a little more just to play on PS4 when released.
That's only there because they announced it. There is no official PS4 ARR Artwork, Rating, etc. All they did was replace the 3 with a 4 on the cover...
@Syrellaris - The PS4 will not be innately PS3 compatible. Digital versions of things from the PS3 will need to wait for the Compatibility / Emulation software to be made. We'll probably see the actual PS4 version released before the PS4-PS3DC would support the PS3 Digital version. Also, Square-Enix has officially stated that you will need 1 Code for each system you intend to play your account on, hence if you want to play on PC, PS3, and PS4 that means you need 1 PC Registration (can be 1.0), 1 PS3 Registration, and 1 PS4 Registration.
Hopefully they'll have something like that.
I'd really hate if we should bye the game twice...
Worst case scenario you can keep your PS3 around for FFXIV only :P
Way I See it for DCU and that game sucks hard they just dl the game on ps4 and bam no purchase or anything and I mean for DCU I find that shocking. coming from a game where you have to pay 5$ to go through an instance again and get loot & xp a second time within 24hrs
What I'm saying even though I read on IGN where ps4 won't let you dl games from your ps3 download list I doubt we'll pay in the future for an upgrade.
SE hasn't said anything at all about the PS4 version (other than it's coming out) or what you'll need for it. Also the code is tied to your PSN account, and PSN accounts migrate across all Sony game systems. So it is entirely possible they could offer a discounted client when the PS4 version is ready sometime next year. We'll just have to wait and see what they have to say about it. I play on the PC, but will pick up the PS4 version for a back up whenever it drops.
